  1. Welcome, @iwillmoveamountain! Of course you are not wrong to pursue getting testing for celiac. My advice is to drop that doctor and find a new one, preferably one who is celiac savvy, and who will listen to you and test you for the disease.
  2. Welcome, @ModernLifeIsWar! Celiac has over 300 symptoms, but it looks like you have some symptoms that appear a lot in those diagnosed with celiac. I suggest you take these symptoms to your doctor and ask for a GI consult and to get the full blod panel to test for celiac disease. The gold standard is an endoscope, where 4 or more biopsies of the intestines...
  3. Love it! So glad you got it fixed!
  4. As to the bold part: this is not completely true. If you you have celiac disease, then your intestines and other body systems are affected if you eat gluten. However, if you are sensitive to gluten but don't have celiac disease, the gluten may make you feel horrible, but your body not be damaged by gluten. That is what distinguishes celiac, an autoimmune...
  5. I don't use Firefox, but have you tried going into your account settings? Over on the right hand side of that page is notification settings. There might be something in there.
  6. Do you eat gluten, and we're you eating it on a regular basis prior to testing? If you were not eating hluten, you can get a false negative.
  7. My heart goes out to you and your family, Marcindy. I hope they find out what else is going on with daughter.
  8. Thank you!
  9. Gem, I had not heard of ALCAT, so I looked it up and see it has to do with allergy testing. I had allergy testing done through an allergist in my insurance network, and I am not allergic to any of the 20 common foods on their list. I, however, am lactose intolerant and can't handle much soy.
  10. No, I am eating gluten on purpose after being gluten free for about a months. I am doing this because I need to to be tested for celiac. I either have non celiac gluten sensitivity or celiac.
  11. Nelly, I agree with the previous posters. Please make that doctor's appointment today.
  12. I cannot stress this enough. I am on week six of a gluten challenge because I thought it would be a good idea to try gluten free just to see how I feel. Well, I felt great, but now I don't feel very well at all. Two more weeks and I go in for blood tests.
  13. Meat does not have gluten in it. In prepared meats, it's the sauce or seasoning or breading that may have gluten in it.
  14. Well, there you go. You have to be eating gluten 2-3 months (8-12 weeks) prior to testing, because it takes that long for any antibodies to build up. If your doctor will not allow you to eat gluten for the required time and then retest you, then I'd suggest finding a doctor who will. Your health is important.
  15. Were you eating gluten prior to all testing? If you were not eating gluten, or you were "gluten light," the tests can come back as false negatives.
  16. Welcome, @ChiaChick, I am sorry you are not feeling well. Celiac can cause a multitude of health problems. If I were you, I would get tested. This means you need to eat gluten 4-8 weeks prior to the blood tests, and 2 weeks prior to the endoscope, not just gluten light. It's good you got your sons tested, too. However, with your health problems...
  17. Welcome, @lily414 I don't have an answer to your question, but I think it's important to go through with all the endoscope. I know your 11 year old doesn't feel well, but make sure he eats gluten until all testing is done. Please let us know how it goes.
  18. Manufacturers marketing in an attempt to glom on to what many see as the "gluten free fad," just to up those sales. Don't these people know how serious celiac disease is?

  20. Welcome, @edithann3 Please see this conversation here regarding enterolab. Enterolab is not very reliable when it comes to their testing. Since your mom has celiac, have you been to your doctor for celiac screening to see if you have the gene? I would really stick to your medical team when it comes to disease. If you are off gluten, no celiac...
  21. Teeccino is a coffee substitute, tastes almost like real coffee, and is delicious, but it unfortunately has not caffeine.
  22. Welcome, Stephm. Do not go gluten free prior to blood testing and endoscopy. In fact, you must eat gluten until all testing is done, otherwise your results will most likely be a false negative. Besides, it's a pain in the butt doing a gluten challenge after eating gluten free for just awhile. Tell your dermatologist straight out that you believe...
  23. Welcome, upsilama! Just so you know, it looks like you have posted the same topic twice in here. My guess is you didn't realize everyone's first post is moderated and you re-posted. I am going to try and remove the second one.
