  1. it would probably be a good idea to have your doc run a celiac screen before you go gluten free if you suspect celiac disease. i have had skin problems all of my life, but i don't have celiac disease. one of my girls has had rashes most of her life and she does have celiac. another of my girls has was might be dermatitis herpetiformis, though i don't know...
  2. jerry----even if you are genetic clones, it still doesn't mean you BOTH have celiac.(though it does sound most likely) that being said, i have identical twin daughters and they both have celiac disease. it sure is nice that your mom was so receptive to the idea of celiac disease rather than blowing you off. my family was pretty good about it, too. when...
  3. i keep thinking that maybe dumbledore isn't really dead. i have been watching harry potter again this morning. my oldest son was here and i just rambled on and on about the harry potter stories. he just listens to me even if i repeat the same things as the last time i rambled on and on about it!LOL!!! anyone else want to put on a robe and ride a broom...
  4. it is the aga antibody that can be raised in other conditions.
  5. doesn't really sound like DH.
  6. i'm betting on snape still being good----i think there is going to be a plot twist---like maybe snape killing dumbledore was all about saving malfoy from becoming trapped in with the evil ones.
  7. last year molly brought an assortment of candy bars to keep in the cabinet at school. this year she just wanted to bring a bag of suckers to keep at school. last year, when she was diagnosed, we learned that her teacher knew all about celiac because she has a niece with it. this year, she spend most of her day in the classroom with her honors reading teacher...
  8. my youngest was failure to thrive for 2 years. she originally had reflux which was bad enought to require surgery----reflux was taken care of, but then she continued to be failure to thrive. she developed esophageal thrush, once it was cleared up she started to gain but then got sick and lost weight. she developed obstructive sleep apnea which caused her...
  9. i think it would be really inappropriate to ask everyone not to bring treats to school that contain wheat. celiac disease is our challenge---not everyone elses. it might be just as disappointing to the child who has his heart set on bringing twinkies for his birthday to not be able to bring them because one child in the room can't eat them. we don't EXPECT...
  10. i love the books and i love the movies (been watching one today) i thought the book was coming out on the 13th?????
  11. i knew a bit about celiac disease before my girls were diagnosed because i have a friend with it-----she had actually been telling me to be tested for it because of my fibromyalgia. (i don't have celiac)
  12. i guess i don't quite agree with your thinking on this subject. my oldest son has more celiac symptoms than any of my children-----and he does not have celiac disease, his symptoms are caused by other problems. my youngest celiac child did not have a lot of obvious symptoms, we tested her because we knew the disease was genetic and her antibody levels were...
  13. i think it is chrons disease that can also cause raised IgG levels----possible some other autoimmune conditions.
  14. which test was positive----the anti-gliadin or the Ttg----they are two separate tests.
  15. could mean celiac or it could mean another condition.
  16. maybe gluten isn't the cause of your low iron levels?
  17. what IgA test did you request? total Iga serum, Ttg Iga, AGA IGA?
  18. his IGG and IGA of what?
  19. gloves, a plastic apron and a cheap white filter mask------there really is no reason you can't do this assignment.
  20. we like pamela's wheat free bread mix----we even eat it plain and untoasted. we also like robin ryberg's buttermilk bread from her cook book "the gluten free kitchen.
  21. why not have the celiac panel done? at her age you may not get her to go gluten free without a "real" diagnosis.
  22. janel----i don't know a whole lot about the conditions i mentioned, but one of my friends has a child with FPIES and i know she would be happy to talk to either you or your friend. i will have her give me some sites and pm her e-mail addy to you tomorrow----if i happen to forget, send me a pm. (i have memory problems sometimes)
  23. we have 11 kids. 2 of "his", 2 of "mine", and 7 of "ours". our kids ages are: 31, 28, 23, 21, 17, 15, 15, 11, 9, 7, 3. the 3 kids with celiac and the one with the gene are all "ours", so it gave us no indication of which of us is carrying the gene. we live in burley, idaho. it is a small town right on the snake river. to put a signature with info...
  24. our ped gi told us to have the girls retested after 6 months---but we have tested sooner than that also. if your gi wants you to test again in 3 months, i'd do it. even if the levels aren't back to normal, you will still get a good indication of how well you are following the diet because they should be down some by then.
  25. one of my girls spent 3 months in the hospital this last summer. she was transfered from one hospital to a children's hospital after the first 2 weeks. the dietician seemed very knowledgeable about celiac disease----she had worked in a GI clinic, and they said that they had alot of celiac kids come through their hospital. after she had been in there for...
