  1. anything that irritates the nose can make you sneeze, so i think that sneezing, in and of itself, is not necessarily a symptom of celiac disease.
  2. i don't think i could have put my kids gluten-free without a diagnosis, either. i recently read something by doctor green that said pretty close to what you just said about a real diagnosis being important---bcause some people will feel better gluten free at first, but then start to have other problems which are caused by other foods and they end up not...
  3. angie, the info you printed comes from a site promoting enterolab---which is questionable to alot of people. it seems like i read in one of your earlier posts that a "real" diagnosis is important to you. so far it doesn't look like you are going to get a "real" diganosis from a doctor. you can do the testing with enterolab and i can guarantee you that...
  4. karen---i had that same kind of testing done about 11 years ago. it told me i reacted to a number of things. i have since heard that that type of testing is not accurate. i'm pretty desperate to feel better these days-----if i could find the sheet of paper that told me all the things i reacted to, i might try eliminating them again----even if i don't...
  5. everyon keeps referring to the "gluten sensitive" genes that enterolabs has named. is there ANY scientific proof that what dr. fine claims to be the gluten sensitive genes really ARE gluten sensitive genes? i don't think that any other medical institution or celiac research center acknowledges gluten sensitive genes. i kind of think we are back to needing...
  6. 4.4 is in the normal range-----we have had testing done with the same reference range as you and have family memebers without celiac that test slightly higher than your daughter.
  7. didn't either doctor do a total IgA serum? what tests did they do, and which ones came back positive?
  8. this can happen to anyone, celiac or not.
  9. yeast is not a problem.
  10. it is now known that celiac is not a rare condition-----so probably more doctors are starting to check for it. they also now know that there are many varied symptoms other than the "classic" symptoms. it is probably partly due to the increased awareness. maybe we have also done something to our foods or our environment that has increased the incidence...
  11. jestgar----i've already heard someone say that their doctor told them exactly what you said---that the allergies just present with different symptoms rather than get outgrown.
  12. just to clarify things for us----why have you chosen to be vegan? you don't have to answer if this is too personal of a question. if bagels are a real love for your----you don't have to give them up!! kinnikinnick makes a pretty good bagel----my girls like them. oh yeah, one more question-----why won't a vegan eat honey? i have never hear this before...
  13. sally---what type of blood tests were done? were they legitimate tests by a regular MD, or were they a questionable type of test done by someone like a naturopath? specifically, i guess, was he tested for TTg antibodies and/or endomysial antibodies? it could be possible that if his testing was not a "medically recognized" test, then perhaps he really did...
  14. i can just about guarantee you they are not IgA deficient-----their numbers would most likely be ALOT lower than theirs are. my son is IgA deficient, and he hardly even registered on testing. TTG showing, but still in the normal range, does not indicate damage. raised levels of AGA can indicate other things than celiac. if it were me, i would not...
  15. ursula----i sure hope you are able to cure some of your intolerances!!! sarah--- even though you have to be genetically predisposed to have celiac-----not everyone that has the genes becomes celiac. something has to trigger the disease. i just hope that one day maybe they can figure out the trigger---and then maybe figure out how to turn it back off...
  16. well, a couple of years ago, the school sent me a letter telling me that molly is considered gifted and talented. tianna and kassie test VERY high on standardized testing, and tianna is a grade ahead in math. these are my 3 celiac girls----but the rest of my kids are also very smart. so, this could either just be luck or genetics----but then, celiac is...
  17. sally, a really easy way to set the record straight, would be for your sister to do follow up blood work on her child----that is, if he was diagnosed by bloodwork.
  18. this post made me smile!!! he sure is a handsome little guy!!
  19. the cherry kisses are gluten free----and pretty good, too.
  20. we bake all the time at home and have had tons of success. we mostly use bette hagman's featherlight mix and just use our old favorite recipes and add xanthan gum. we have muffins for breakfast on a regular basis. i just bought a new cook book over the weekend by roben ryberg---she is the creator of miss roben's mixes. all the recipes in the book use...
  21. they obviously aren't up to date on testing or they would have done a total IgA serum to begin with. if the only test that was high was the AGA IGA----then that could explain why one doctor would say positive and another doctor would say negative. do you know which tests they ran?
  22. isn't it great that people can have a sense of humor amidst problems!!!
  23. i think that is in the normal range, but doesn't tell you anything except that you are not IgA deficient.
  24. i think that both of these can be caused by celiac------which i would say he definitely has if he had a positive TTG and EMA. your son is pretty young still so the gut symptoms may just not be obvious---but if he has a positive TTG, then he has intestinal damage somewhere. those scopes can only go about 6 feet into the small intestine, which means that there...
