  1. more discharge than normal can cause the irritation you are describing-----you may have an infection of another sort, rather than a yeast infection.
  2. tell them you want a copy of your medical test. if it is the anti-gliadin that is positive, it can be caused by other things than celiac-----but i can't imagine what that would have to do with lactose. did you test borderline lactose intolerance or borderline celiac when you were 8?
  3. and those empty calories can dampen their appetite for other foods, which can help explain the poor growth.
  4. luvs2eat---tell me how you did your onions----i was just thinking about making homemade fried onions for the greenbean casserole.
  5. health valley makes a gluten free cream of chicken soup. it is not condensed, so i thicken it with cornstarch when i use it.

ARCHIVED Should I Tell My Old Doctors?

you know, i really don't see it as a "failing" for a doctor to have missed celiac-----the information just was not readily available. it is only recently that it has been realized that celiac is a common disease and not a rare disease.
  7. if all this is true----then doesn't this mean that an intestinal biopsy isn't really the "gold standard" for diagnosing celiac?
  8. would it be admissable to state that you sell a gluten free product and if someone is interested they can pm you for more info??
  9. gfp-----i sure appreciate how practical you are about things!!
  10. too funny!!!!!!!
  11. you must use a different reference range than the hematocrits i've seen, because 17 isn't very low on the ones they use around here. ok, i looked this up and it is something different that they measure to indicate anemia that i am referring to.
  12. what do you think the purpose of wheat is in briquettes?
  13. i just discovered that you can buy tinkyada pasta in bulk from azure standard. i havaen't seen it online---but i got their free catalogue and found it in there.
  14. i always tell people that i don't believe in potty training----i'd rather change a diaper than clean up an accident. all of my kids have been over 3 before than were potty trained except one, and that is because she basically trained herself. sometimes, if they potty train when they are a little older, they will be dry at night at about the same time. ...
  15. i bought some whole quinoa today, but i don't know how to cook it---and what is the best way to eat it once it is cooked?
  16. hey ladies-----i missed this thread---or i was ignoring it. do think that could be some sort of sub-concious attempt to avoid my age?LOL!! i haven't read everything---but i've seen skin and hair coloring covered. get this------at 40 years old, i was pregnant, wearing braces, and had acne. how do you cover the gray in your hair, but still keep the...
  17. i was wondering if ingrediends such as cellulose gum, guar gum, acacia gum---or any other"gum" used to be considered on the "not-safe" list of ingredients. i have heard someone with a celiac relative say that a celiac can't have anything with any type of "gum" in it. these products are all listed on the "safe" list. are some of these people just not keeping...
  18. i have reflux problema and this is the feeling i have been having alot lately----food feeling like it never goes completely down, and then i burp alot and feel uncomfortable. i have actually had food get stuck in my esophagus, it was pretty painful. it lasted for about 45 min. and i couldn't swallow anything. i am seeing the surgeon soon----probably time...
  19. i would think it means you have a problem with those things.
  20. thanks!
  21. it usually happens right after i eat corn----but my throat feels the same way tonight after dinner and i didn't eat anything with corn??
  22. according to those tests, it does not look like you have celiac disease.
  23. i think i may be starting to have a problem with corn. we have been using so many more corn products since my girls were diagnosed with celiac that i think maybe i have either started an intolerance, or i am using enough of it now to bring an as-of-yet-unknown tolerance out into the light. did that make sence? when i eat corn products i get a thick, yucky...
  24. if you are IgA deficient then the normal tests are worthless and specialized testing has to be done. (one of my kids is IgA deficient). to know if you are getting accurate results, a total IgA serum needs to be run besides the antibody tests. it sounds like this was done by your doctor, that is why it was included in the report.
  25. we are feeding a family of 9 gluten free meals and the expense can be overwhelming. i know we could save so much money if i were to make many more homemade products----but i am not well physically or mentally right now and i just can't do it. (i do not have celiac and a gluten free diet did not improve my symptoms) i think starting this thread was a great...
