  1. The mistakes I've made that I think may be common were; 1. The ingredient barley malt. Its in cereals and some rice milks maybe even some soy milk. 2. I bought a mix for buckwheat pancakes and had them two days in a row before I realized it also had wheat listed. I thought it said buckwheat and it did but it listed wheat right after it and didn...
  2. What's so hard as I read these posts is once you've been violated with your husbands misguided intent it must go into other area's. How can you ever trust him with anything? His word won't mean anything to you I suppose. I would talk to him about what this can lead to down the road. Gail
  3. LOL great attitude she'll have no problems with boyfriends when she gets older. Gail
  4. For those who don't mind going to Green Bay for some shopping you can go to any Festival Foods store and they'll have a natural food aisle that has your gluten free choices. They have a selection from Grandma Ferdons(sp?) the bakery from Hayward. She has a lot of desserts so I don't buy them since I prefer to bake my own. They'll have all your Kinnickinick...
  5. If you've had a panic attack you know how debilitating they can be. For years I've had them and hardly get them anymore since I've been gluten free. I still have strong memories though of where I would get them and the memory itself will trigger one on. I used to have layered hair cuts with highlights which took so long in a salon chair that I decided...
  6. I was upset last night that Gina got booted. I loved her spirit, she really loved being there. Her video at the end made me tear up. I know this happens every year so hopefully this is the one big surprise. I'll stop watching it when Sanjaya stays before anyone else that were in the top two catagories last night. Really that is starting to get to me....
  7. I agree it was boring last night, I had a hard time paying attention. My husband loved it because he's a Tony Bennet fan. I'll have to play him and Frank Senatra whenever I'm making a big Italian meal. I agree Guhlia that Blake was not his best the last two performances. He has such a big following that he can get by with it though. He has a velvet...
  8. I was doing some research on high fructose corn syrup this weekend since its in everything the worse being soda which is whats getting children in trouble with weight and diabeties. I was amazed how bad it is for the liver. Not only that but just "fructose" which I always thought was better then table sugar. Well here's the results of a study that I copied...
  9. I think with every holiday I go through sugar cravings. Now with Easter all you see is the pretty Easter candies and brings back memories of Easter baskets and fun. Its seems the only time I buy a bag of snicker bars are during one of the holidays. Memories will bring up cravings for a certain dessert or sweet and of course you associate the fun along...
  10. Hi Goodlife, Its true those with gastrointestinal reactions to gluten run very high in lactase deficiency because of the damage that has occurred to the upper intestinal tract. The classic reaction to dairy products due to lactase deficiency is gastrointestinal pain, diarrhea, and anxiety attacks. The anxiety attacks occurs because in the presence of...

  12. I have sensitivities to everything it seems but I have to eat and decided that I can't afford to lose anymore weight, so after reading a book titled "Brain Allergies" by William Philpott, M.D. I decided to do the rotation diet. I'm having corn but then won't have it again for 7 days. I'm alittle more relaxed with it then he is though. He won't have you...
  13. I know french fries are high in sulfites. The reason being they would turn brown once peeled and exposed to the air. Some people will have a sensitivity to sulfites if you want to do a google search on it. I can't recall all the foods high in sulfites other then wine, greens in a salad bar (so they stay fresh looking, dried fruits, and I believe lunch...
  14. I think the final three will be Jordin, Blake, and Melinda. Melinda has a great voice but her acting like "little ol me?" everytime you compliment her is getting old. There's no question she sings good though. Jordin is funny when she tries to squash down when standing next to Ryan. I think Ryan gets annoyed with it. Blake would be my no. 1 choice....
  15. Here's a stab at what it could be, if your soil is low in PH you add lime right. Adding lime raise the PH. If your area is rich in lime maybe thats what your body is craving by going down in the basement and breathing it in. I've even heard of adding ashes to the soil in place of lime all though its not as good, well you also crave ashes. So could...
  16. You would of course have a better understanding of this subject then me but I'm just repeating what I've been told for years. If you live in a cold climate during the winters you don't depend on just your area for fruits and vegetables. I just did a quick reference check on areas and found this: SELENIUM The selenium content of our food depends entirely...
  17. Remember the old clips of the beatles appearing on the Ed Sullivan show and girls in the audience where crying and passing out? I think thats why they had the cameras on that little girl crying. I thought it was so cute. She was just overwhelmed by it all. I thought Lakisha totally blew it last night. I didn't like her last week either but it was...
  18. I forget what t.v. show had this deficiency as a story line. It was years ago and I think social workers were trying to prove child neglect because this girl keep eating dirt and garbage stuff. Does it help to take mineral supplements? I know we're all deficient in selenium and brazil nuts are about the only thing that's full of it. Basically our soils...
  19. There's a Celiac website which mentioned that a veterinarian, diagnosed with celiac disease, developed a theory about how celiac disease and the excitatory neurotransmitters glutamic acid and aspartic acid play a role in the damage caused by this disease. We have recently found that many persons who report a sensitivity to MSG also report an inability...
  20. There is differences of opinions on what diet to follow. Some say starches are o.k. and others say no especially in the beginning. I think once you start to feel better you can add brown rice for example. I do believe however yeast thrive on starches because its a source of sugar. I think milk is bad too. Yogurt might be ok if you make it yourself and...
  21. This what angers me also RiceGuy. For instance, and I learned this from Rachel, they spray a chemical called Auxigro on vegetables as a pesticide that has L-glutamic acid in it. Its right in the vegetable and you can't wash it off cuz it remains in the plant itself. There just seems to be alot of cover-up. I don't like it. I just want to know where...
  22. Candida takes awhile to get under control and it sounds like you have it pretty bad. I don't think it would of went away iin just 7 mo. because you were eating rice and milk. Thats enough to keep them alive and well. Even some vegetables. I hope you get the diagnoses you want if its celiac but don't be surprised if its not. I've opted to forgo the...
  23. The reason you don't want to use cornstarch to thicken gravies is because it turns clear. That's ok for some things like maybe to thicken a stir fry, soup or barbecue sauce but in your gravy, traditionally its an opaque creamy color. But that never bothered me. If I'm having company I'm alittle nervous about it though. Gail
  24. I don't know if China has smarter and healthier people then other countries but if they do it might be something as simple as eating less saturated fats or they walk more or get more fibrous vegetables .... who knows but I don't thing its because they eat MSG. Some people aren't as sensitive to MSG as others. If your celiac or gluten intolerant your gut...
  25. Something that helped me is taking 200 mgs of SAMe twice a day in between meals. I think I even went up to three times a day for awhile. It really elevate my mood and had lots of energy. Its alittle expensive so I don't take it all the time anymore. I also cut out all grains except alittle brown rice once a week. For some reason I just do better eating...
