ARCHIVED Then Last Item With Gluten You Ate...
DingoGirl replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
never wanted one in my whole life, would look at those funnel cakes, and think, wow, how utterly vomitous. Now, what I wouldn't give (only half joking...fried dough is somehow really appealing to me now). my last thing.....the day of endoscopy/colonoscopy, and he told me right then I had advanced Celiac and not one villi, I didn't care, my friend drove... -
HI SillyYak - I am so sorry you're depressed. I can tell you what happened to me - - I was depressed for YEARS, alternating wtih mania. The mania's really fun but the crash afterwards.....debilitating. Anyway, I've been gluten-free for almost four months. In the first 3 - 4 weeks or so, I felt so fantastic, and then went into a deep crash. I don't really...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Hair Products For Naturally Curly Hair?
DingoGirl replied to Green12's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What? This is interesting. My hair grew out into a completely different thing on top of my head in the last year, very frizzy and kinky now, each strand is much thinner in diameter. But, I thought it was because of the nervous breakdown/Siege of Terror of 2004 (I was in a state of terror, adrenaline pumping every second and lost so much weight....it... -
ARCHIVED Paint Called Temper Or Somthing?
DingoGirl replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Nope, tempera is a type of paint, and originally contained egg yolks, pigment, and binding agents. I taught art to children for a few years, used TONS of tempera, I don't think it contains eggs any more but not sure. And I didn't know anything about gluten at that time...I am sure, like most other bulk paints now, that it is largely chemical in makeup... -
ARCHIVED Budgeting Tips For Frugal Celiacs
DingoGirl replied to Claire's topic in Publications & Publicity
Excellent tips.... Here's what I did with a chicken - felt very proud of the mileage I got from it: Bought $5 already-cooked chicken from Costco (they are much bigger than the ones at Save Mart and $2 less!). Ate that for a couple of days, with veggies. Then used some of the chicken for quesadillas. Then pulled off remaining chicken, mixed with... -

ARCHIVED I Hate This Disease
DingoGirl replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know EXACTLY how you feel. It's just the dogs and me, and I haven't dated since the breakup in January....can't imagine what that will be like but it makes us seem SO high maintenance. I, too hate having Celiac and being alone. But, have faith, there is someone out there for us... And I agree, we definitely need Lynn here. -

ARCHIVED Omg - The Envelopes At The Atm!
DingoGirl replied to DingoGirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Aaaaaaagh!! Sorry it happened to you too, Lollie...I guess we can file this under "reasons why we can't figure out we've been glutened" - - - because I haven't even THOUGHT of it all this time that I've been DOING IT!!! -
ARCHIVED For Women - Question About Periods....
DingoGirl replied to DingoGirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Mortamer, I am so sorry about your miscarriage. Many hugs....I can't speak to this directly, but I know there are huge connections between Celiac and infertiility and possibly miscarriage. You can search the threads or post a new topic about that. Your periods might change now that you're gluten-free - mine have gotten MUCH heavier....yours might... -
A surprise discovery, every couple of weeks as I deposit checks into the ATM, I just lick that envelope without thinking. I am so careful at work and home, use a sponge every time, and have now realized that I am glutening myself with that!! So....I took the bottle of DOG WATER and swished my mouth right then and spit....I think some of it hit the ATM...

ARCHIVED What Type Of Doctor Do You See Regarding Your celiac disease?
DingoGirl replied to glutenexpat's topic in Doctors
Welcome, T - I was lucky, was very sick, blood in stool for a long, long time (I ignored it), severe anemia, very weird poop, etc. My regular doctor sent me to a wonderful gastroenterologist. He immediately suspected Celiac, rearranged the next day's schedule slightly and got me in for colonoscopy/endoscopy. I saw him one month later, and then he scheuled... -
ARCHIVED Why Celiac's Are Special, Heavenly Creatures
DingoGirl replied to fairydust's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is how women and birds are alike....birds like sparkly things too, as they will often pick up something shiny to use in the construction of their nests, and also you will note that they poop on cars frequently.... (birds, not women) Welcome, Fairy Dust Celia! Susan -

DingoGirl replied to cdiane's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
A friend just gave me a loaf of Ener-G Light Tapioca - - I toasted two of them last night w/ butter and honey and they were, to me, very much like white bread fluff.....prett good, actually. (sorry if someone has already mentioned this - didn't see it on the thread) Susan -

Oh, you are young and your brain didn't get fried from Celiac, did it....I don't read complicated books any more, was relegated to celebrity gossip magazines and the newspaper in the last few years....will pick up books again, hopefully, when I can remember plotlines...

I remember being a bit startled the first time there was a normal poop, in February of this year. Like welcoming an old, long-lost friend back.....

Ahh.....nostalgia....spent half a summer in Italy about 20 years ago. Anyone remember the name of that famous gelateria in Florence? Vivoli's? Vivace's? Something like that...best gelato in the world, and I should know, we trekked there TWICE a day. Surely most of their gelati should be gluten-free! Ciao - Susan
