  1. He's so stinkin' cute!! Do you have to spend a lot of time grooming him?
  2. I think that you could replace the xanthan gum with guar gum. It is a bean ground into a fine powder. A lot of people that can't tolerate the xanthan gum use guar gum. It's less expensive, too.
  3. I had mixed results with the Ener-G egg replacer, too. I prefer to use oil, water, baking powder combination or fruit. I have always wanted to try the flax but seem to rely on the tried and true. I just don't have time for a "flop" right now, lol.
  4. Thanks. I make ranger bars for her instead. I will try this, though. She will not eat the bread unless it's toasted, and I make her bread every 3-4 days.
  5. Does this foccacia bread need to be toasted to taste right? I need to make my dd a treat for tommorrow, and I was thinking of trying the cinnamon sugar route. But, it won't work at school if it needs to be toasted.
  6. That's pretty much what we did last year. My daughter wanted to pick her own Webkinz, so I took her shopping. After much deliberation, she chose a cute white bunny she named Candy.
  7. ((hugs)) Angie. I'm sorry that is happening. I agree with everyone else. It sounds like she has a lot of growing up to do, but it doesn't excuse being rude and hurtful. It is too bad that he is choosing to not come to the party. Maybe it's for the best right now. Enjoy that party with the family that does come and enjoy that sweet little birthday girl...
  8. Thanks for bringing this thread back up! Soft pretzels were my dd's favorite treat too. We are currently trialling egg, so I can try this recipe!
  9. Wow, Julie, I can't believe that your school would have them trade lunches. That is crazy! Everyone has had some great ideas and it's nice that she shares a buddy with someone else. AFA the treats and such, I'm in the same boat with the prepackaged stuff. Carleigh just doesn't like or want those things. I'm still waiting for her to decide what she...
  10. Me too!! Thanks so much!! You just helped me with two dinners for this week!! And, my daughter is free of all of that, so I won't have to make any modifications!
  11. Yay!! Congrats, Angie!! Happy Birthday, Annika!
  12. Hi everyone, It's been a long time since I've been in here. Summer flew by so fast, and I didn't wear much makeup, lol. I guess I'll have to go over to EM and see all the new things there.
  13. Sounds very interesting. I'm known around here as a "food nazi", I really don't like to buy anything packaged anymore. I only buy what I have too!
  14. Thanks for posting this, Julie! I love baked potatoes, but I really don't like them in the microwave. I love my crockpot and have seen baked potatoes but haven't tried it yet. Wth kids at two different school and activities after school, the crockpot is my life saver!! I think I'll do a baked potato and salad night next week!
  15. ((Angie)) Happy Birthday to Annika!! I'm sorry to hear that she has such food restrictions. You've gotten some great ideas from the posters here. I hope that something works out for you! IMO, I wouldn't try the eggs.
  16. Thanks for all of those, Purple! I'm going to print them and try out the Italian ones. I had to at the one that actually calls for MSG, though!! I'm on a mission to eliminate HFCS and MSG from my family's meals. Do you have any idea how many hidden names there are for that? Crazy!
  17. Thanks, Lisa and dksart! My dh went there alone for lunch, and he said that they had a big disclaimer about cross-contamination at the bottom of the menu. He didn't think the food was very good, anyway. He said the cherry limeade was okay, so maybe we'll go for drinks sometime only. Too risky for me!
  18. ITA about the Dari Free, Julie. I use it in my dd's bread to replace the dry milk powder, and I hide it in smoothies. She will not drink it straight or in anything savory.
  19. I'll agree that sorghum flour is our favorite blend too. Don't get scared when you see the price of xanthan gum. It lasts a long time. I LOVE my crockpot and make something in it a few times a week, usually. One of my family's favorites is: Italian Meat 4lb. chuck roast 1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce (we use Classico) 2 T. McCormick...
  20. Sonic Drive in is opening here in a few days. I was wondering if anyone eats there. I just went to their website and didn't find any useful information for dealing with allergies or celiac. The nutrition guide is strictly all the calories, fat, etc., but nothing that I wanted to know. After the hype dies down, I guess we'll go down there and see if...
  21. Julie, I think we avoid a lot of the same things. It is really frustrating not to be able to just dump a can of soup! I'm always looking for things that don't use soup. However, I have made the following recipe for a couple of dishes. It is a basic thickened white sauce. My family liked it with the Tater Tot casserole I make sometimes. I haven't used...
  22. Congratulations to you and your daughter!! Please post the recipe! I have some bananas that need to be used.
  23. Wow, way cool about the find on ebay! That is really cool. Here is the link to the cones that I buy. I get them at my local co-op, but I would think that Whole Paycheck, I mean Whole Foods, would carry them too. Open Original Shared Link
  24. Wowsers! That's great. I'd have to buy the new gadgets to make these. I just buy the Cerrone cones.
  25. I don't know. I guess I was trying to see if it would keep it from sinking. Since I have made those modifications above, my bread has been turning out. I have to make her another loaf today. I hope your next loaf comes out for you!!
