  1. Yay! You just made my day. We love to get a ham from Honeybaked Ham Co. for Christmas! I've always had to something different for Carleigh every year.
  2. MMMM, all this leftover talk has me hungry! Turkey broth.. I wanted to add that I make stock in my crockpot all the time. Yumm! Here in Minnesota, everyone makes turkey wild rice soup.
  3. I agree with Lisa. We recently had a Sonic open near us, and I looked at their site and e-mailed them. No response back from them. The only thing my dd has from there is the cherry limeade drink, which is very good!
  4. Sue, this is the way my dd is still. Sometimes she will willing want to talk about it, and other times she doesn't want me to say anything more than necessary. Dma, welcome to the board. Glad that you found us! I live in surburia where there are resources and restaurants around. We still don't eat out very often, and I carry food with us to any...
  5. My dd was also diagnosed at nearly 7 years old with a wheat allergy and possible celiac disease or gluten intolerance. Her blood testing came out inconclusive, with 4 markers positive. The allergist told us that if we wanted to definitive answer to get the biopsy done. By the time we reached this point, we were just desperate to make her feel better. ...
  6. Very cool! I'll have to try this. I've never used nutritional yeast before, though. Where do you find that in the store?
  7. Glad that she is doing better. Hope you have a much better week!!
  8. My dd eats gluten and casein-free, as well as a few other things. There's a definite learning curve there. I make a lot of her food (bread, cookies, bars) from scratch. She doesn't care for any of the cheese replacements that we've tried. Occasionally, she'll want some on pasta, but usually she wants it plain. These are the special items that I buy...
  9. Great idea! Do you mind posting your chocolate cut-out cookie recipe? You are lucky that your schools let you bring homemade treats in. Our school only lets us bring store-bought treats.
  10. ITA with everyone else. That is way too much stuff for party, especially since it is Halloween. If there is noone else that is gluten-free, I'd let her do the waffle bowls and bring your son a brownie to eat with his ice cream. That way you have the leftovers at home for him to enjoy later. Definitely give him an extra big scoop of ice cream, too. ...
  11. ((Rissa)) sorry to hear about your sick kitty. I hope she gets better soon! I've never been a cat owner, but I know how attached I am to my dog. Take care!!
  12. I use Patti's recipe and love it! In fact, I'll be making some pumpkin and bat cut-outs tonight for the school party on Friday.
  13. Alli, What is prairie bread? Thanks for posting your lunches.
  14. ((Hugs)) Maybe she will change her mind about muffins soon. My dd has outgrown the rice intolerance, but we still do very little cereal. I remember her having tostitos and apples a lot at the beginning of our gluten-free journey. Now she eats toast, fruit, muffins, potatos, grits, leftover dinner
  15. Here's a link that I found that describes the difference between beet sugar and cane sugar, and also brown sugars. Open Original Shared Link
  16. I use the same mix as Purple uses. My daughter was intolerant to rice for a few years. I made a lot of quinoa as a replacement. It is awesome cooked with some broth and sauteed veggies.
  17. Hey Gina, See the little girl in my siggy? That's my daughter and she's 9 1/2 years old. I bet she would love to be a penpal for your daughter. I'll ask her when she gets home. Were you looking for letters or email?
  18. Hi, I really love that you are posting your menu plans. I have gotten some ideas from you in the past. I just came across this blog and thought you might enjoy it. www.5dollardinners.com
  19. Wow, Mamaw, thanks! I wish I lived near a WF to take advantage of this. You're great at finding deals for us!
  20. Oh my! That sounds great! We are contemplating our next vacation to be at WDW. How do you find out about the dining plans, etc? Do you think that they could work with my dd's extensive list?
  21. My family lives just north of Fort Lauderdale in Pompano Beach. When we go there, we have eaten successfully at Pizza Fusion and Smokey Bones. They are both on Federal Highway and would require a taxi ride, though. I'll see if I can find anything out about what's near you.
  22. Great idea!! I'm going to try the pumpkin muffins, pizza, and apple crisp. What gluten-free oats do you use? Here's our lunches for the week. Monday: Roast beef roll-ups Carrots and celery sticks w/bbq sauce (Sweet Baby Rays) to dip Apple Snack: Glutino pretzels Tuesday: Hot dog in a thermos...
  23. Hi, Julie. I'm glad that you found something that will work for you. Let me know how it comes out with the tuna casserole. My dh just asked recently for that. I haven't made it in a long time because I didn't think it would work w/the recipe I've been using.
  24. I've melted them and put them into molds before, too. I add a little bit of oil to them to help with the consistency. This is a picture of the candy that the Easter bunny brought my daughter.
  25. Great ideas in here!! I love my crockpot these days too. Since you are only cooking for yourself, you could get your freezer stocked well with single servings quickly for those nights that you can't cook. This is another Mexican recipe. My family absolutely loves this. I have frozen it for later. I posted this recipe a long time ago here and...
