ARCHIVED Could This Be Symptoms?
TCA replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I hope you're not freaking out, as you stated earlier, because it sounds like you have enough on your plate. Your daughter's symptom's do sound identical to my daughter's, though. She can't tolerate any formulas, so I am on a gluten-free diet and pumping for her. We just found out about an additional milk and egg allergy, which I'm also avoiding. I hope... -
ARCHIVED Toddler Glutened!
TCA replied to VydorScope's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I just wanted to add that the last time Cole stayed sick that long from a glutening, I finally figured out that the Log Cabin Pancake syrup I had been giving him had been reformulated and had gluten in it. Cole is usually only sick with D a couple days. They may just be completely different, but just thought I'd mention it in case you guys are in the same... -
ARCHIVED Looking For gluten-free, Cf, Egg Free Cheese
TCA replied to TCA's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the education. I've tried the Road's end gravies before and they're pretty good. I'll have to look for the chreese. Can't imagine a liquid cheese, but I'll try it! Thanks! -
It is for me, but it's better now that I'm gluten-free. I just know my aunt and cousin have it too and they have them too. You need to take some probiotics.

ARCHIVED List Of gluten-free Foods-help!
TCA replied to jknnej's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Popsicle brand is by Unilever and they always list gluten as does Kraft, so as long as the labels don't read Wheat rye, barley or oats, you should be good to go. -
My friend has decided to try the diet. Alex is already on the ketogenic diet, so it's not a far stretch to the gluten-free one. I hope it helps. I don't know why you couldn't read the post. Sorry!

ARCHIVED Waiting For Test Results For My 7 Year Old
TCA replied to HeatherG's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My kids also showed symptoms while breatfeeding. I've gone on a gluten free diet for my daughter who is nursing and her health turned around almost immediately. It was so amazing to watch. If I ever get glutened, she has the same symptoms again. I hope you find some answers. My daughter wasn't tested, but son's tests were inconclusive with a very... -
ARCHIVED Child Going Casein Free
TCA replied to mart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just baked a batch and they are sooooo yummy. Eating while I'm typing. Must try them! A cold glass of Very Vanilla Silk soy milk goes great.! -
ARCHIVED Looking For gluten-free, Cf, Egg Free Cheese
TCA posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've done cf before, but I never found a cheese alternative that was completely casein and dairy free. If something says VEGAN, what does that really mean? Is it supposed to be free of all egg, dairy, meat, etc? I've eaten VEGAN foods before, but I'm not a vegetarian, so wasn't so concerned about the real meaning. I'm dying for an omelette right now.... -
ARCHIVED Child Going Casein Free
TCA replied to mart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
we're on a cf, gluten-free, and egg free diet for my daughter (still nursing) and myself becuase of her allergies and our gluten intolerance. I think the best tasting thing I've found for drinking it Silk Very Vanilla soy milk. It's made with kids in mind, but I like it too! It's kinda like a milk shake. I use almond and silk vanilla soy milk on cereal... -
ARCHIVED Testing And Diet Questions
TCA replied to AndreaB's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We ended up doing the celiac gene test from prometheus on thek ids because other tess were inconclusive. We were trying to rule celiac in or out. It's way expensive. After insurance, we still owe 250 each. The other tests were all inconclusive, so the GI thought this would be the closest we could get to a diagnosis. Since they had the genes and so... -
ARCHIVED Uncle Ben's Rice & La Choy Lite Soy Sauce?
TCA replied to LLatham's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does it say wheat in the label. I"ve found most soy sauces that have wheat will list it. All soy sauces do not contain wheat. The walmart brand say gluten-free right on the label. -
ARCHIVED The End Of The Road
TCA replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Tyson chicken strips are gluten free (non breaded, of course). These are just the plain ones frozen in the bag. WalMart's brand says gluten free right on the bag. Perdue Chicken breasts are also gluten-free -
ARCHIVED Reliability Of Test Results?
TCA replied to Tony'sMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Is she still on a bottle or nursing or is she eating now? The pictures is a baby, so that's why I'm asking. I'm with Ursula, try the gluten-free diet and see if she gets better. My son had 2 negative biopsies, but the diet was so amazing in how much it's helped him. I don't know why they're so inaccurate. One thing I read said it's because the damage... -
ARCHIVED Peduatrician Just Called...
TCA replied to celiacmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son went through 2 negative biopsies before I knew any better. Tests on kids under 5 are most often inconclusive or false negative, but you don't get false positives. His blood work was also inconclusive, with very high IGg and only slightly elevated IgA. The diet trial has worked miracles. I'm not doctorphobic, and I don't think the biopsy is a big deal... -
ARCHIVED My "little" One
TCA replied to sommer rose's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Try not to be so hard on yourself. All of the same tests were run on our son and he's no worse for the wear. I think you're doing the right thing by investigating the possibilities. I guess by the time we found celiac I was just relieved that he was doing better. It wasn't a matter of fearing what the diet might be like for him. Make sure you tell... -
ARCHIVED The End Of The Road
TCA replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I just want you to know that you can stop panicking about the dr. bills. By law they cannot for you to pay those immediately. As long as you are paying something, even $5 a month, you should be ok. I"m not saying you should pay as little as possible, just that you can pay what you can every month and be ok. I know because my father's insurace was dropped... -
ARCHIVED Almost Like An Epidemic.
TCA replied to chrissy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Vaccines may be a trigger for some kids, but both my kids had symptoms before recieving any of their vaccines. We have opted to get the vaccinations. My daughter has a heart defect and has enough problems to worry about without getting any of the big sicknesses As for the epidemic, I'm frustrated because I know so many people who fall into the symptom... -

ARCHIVED To Work Or Not To Work
TCA replied to dionnek's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I worked part time with our 1st child, but our 2nd has many health issues, so I decided to stay home for now. I know what you mean about sacrificing your career, but I am so glad I did now. My husband and I are both engineers and I see his career moving forward and mine won't for some time, but I'm really content with that for now. I've been at home for... -
I was at the In-laws for Mother's Day and got glutened accidentally. The good thing was that I had an appt. with the new dermatologist on Monday and the blisters came back, but only between my fingers and couple on my palm. She was able to see it, though, and thinks that it is DH. She couldn't get a good biopsy, though because of the locations. She said...

ARCHIVED Does This Sound Familiar?
TCA replied to sarahelizabeth's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This all sounds so much like my daughter. We went through soooo much with her (even an unnecessary fundoplication surgery). If I could give you one piece of advice it would be this: Give him nothing but breast milk for a while and you go on the gluten free diet while nursing him. This literally saved my daughter's life. Formulas make her sooooo sick... -
