  2. I called Garnier today and they list Wheat, Rye, Barley, or Oats on the label (as does Suave). They even offered to send me a list of chemicals that contains any gluten. I was very impressed!

    ARCHIVED Nursing

Be glad that you nursed your daughter. My daughter had heart surgery at 9 days old, after which the doctor INSISTED Formula be added to her diet for extra calories. I explained that my son did not tolerate formulas at all and asked for other alternatives. I was told, incorrectly, there were none. After months of suffering, I took her off all supplements...
  5. Your story sounds so much like mine with our son. He had 2 negative biopsies at 15 mos and 3 yrs. He had inconclusive blood work, see below. His Ttg and EMA were negative, but that was probably because he didn't have severe damage yet. The biopsies showed irritation. He started on a gluten-free diet the first of the year and is soooo much better. It...
  6. I made the Bob's Red Mill Homemade Wonderful Bread Mix and it was really good, plus I can get it at Kroger. My son is really pickyy, but we have found lots of things that are ok for him to eat. We're also noticing that he's trying more foods now that he's been gluten free for a while.
  7. Thanks so much! both of you are so sweet for your encouraging words and information. I actually called Dr. Fasano's office a few weeks ago. He was supposed to get back to me, but never did. I guess I need to keep trying. We have so many Autoimmune diseases in both sides of our family. My husband is a Type 1 diabetic, as is his brother. His grandparents...
  8. I too have hypermobile joints and lots of body/joint pain. I went gluten-free in Sept. since I was nursing our celiac dauther and have never felt better. I had no idea celiac disease could cuase all of this, but I haven't hurt in months, except last week when I got glutened and I felt awful. I guess they get it from me. I never thought about the hypermobility...
  9. Could I get that bread recipe? The only one I've found that my son likes is Bob's Red Mill Homemade Wonderful bread. I read that you realized your son had had it since birth. What were his symptoms? We're trying to make sure we're not mising anything with our 9 mo. old. Thanks!
  10. I am nursing my daughter and she gets soooo sick if I eat gluten. i also read about introducing gluten via breastfeeding is good, so I'm in a catch 22. Please let me know if you find any conclusive articles!
  11. My son was just diagnosed this week (after 2 years of testing) with Celiac. We were sooo relieved to finally find it since we had suspected it for some time. Ou daughter is 9 mos. old and was born with a congenital heart defect and had her first surgery at 9 days old. She's due for her second surgery this April. She had HORRIBLE GI issues after they...
  12. I have a list from OreIda that lists their regular tater tots as OK (got it last month) and no wheat is mentioned on the ingredietns. Are these ok or not? I hope so since my son loves them! We do their fries a lot too. I also make oven fries with olive oil, onions, and Canadian Steak Sesoning. They are sooooo good!
  13. I'm also on a quest to deglutenize my medicine cabinet since my kids were just diagnosed. I was a t Sam's yesterday reading lables and the Vaseline Intensive Care lotions they had there had Oat protien so be careful!!!! I ended up getting lubriderm and called the company to confirm and they said it was gluten free!!!! It works really good too. Silver...
  14. Thanks so much for all the info!!! We're going through the testing in the family now and this helps tremendously!!!!
  15. Our daughter is a special case. She was born with a heart defect and had surgery at 9 days old. She sufffered with terrible GI issues for months and the doctors couldn't figure out what was going on. I had suggested Celiac and they dismissed me. Finally after she went through a stomach surgery and was still having serious issues, I ignored the doctors...
  16. My daughter had an NG tube for 5 mos. after birth due to a heart condition, but now has a MicKey Tube. It's not hard to manage and is allowing us to pump enough breast milk into her to keep her healthy until her next surgery in April. she'll 1 year old then. It's been a life-saver for her (seriously).
  17. My 3 year old son was just diagnosed too adn I think I'm finally getting my arms around the diet. I've been gluten-free since Sept. due to nurshing my celiac daughter (9 mos). My son was diagnosed last month. Here are a lot of things he eats: Oscar mayer hot dogs Ore Ida french fries Oscar mayer bologna Hormel pepporoni Kraft cheeses Hormel shaved...
  18. My son's IgG was very high (53) and the IgA slightly elevated (21). At first the GI said he didn't have it, but after the genteic test and an extremely successful gluten-free diet trial he now has a diagnosis. HIs Ttg and EMA were both negative, but his biopsies (2) were negative too. I later found out that the TTG and the EMA are both inidicators of intestinal...
  19. I took about 3 weeks for my 3 year old son and 3 days for my 5 mo. old daughter. From what I understand it varies considerably with the individual.
  20. I'm sure most of you have heard about the link between Celiac and diabetes. Both our kids have Celiac and my husband is diabetic (Type1). Severe thirst and frequent urination are common sypmtoms of diabetes. I would encourage all of you to get checked. A gluten free diet includes less starches, thus lower blood sugar in people with diabetes. This might...
  21. Hunt's snack cups ar gluten free too, jello and pudding! My son loves the jello. Even have sugar free for diabetics (my husband). We're just a family of special diets!
  22. PB Cookies 1 C PB 1 C sugar 1 egg mix well, roll into balls, press onto cookie sheet. Bake 375 for 10-12 mins. Delicous!!! Kids crying gotta go!!!!!!
  23. I posted this under the parents' forum and thought I might get more response if I posted it here. Sorry if this is repetition for some of you: Our 2nd child was born with a congenital heart defect and had open heart surgery at 9 days old. She's now 9 mos. and will have another surgery in April. The nutritionist kept pushing formula even though I was pumping...
  24. My son has been gluten-free 4 weeks now. His diarrhea had stopped after 2 weeks, but today it has been bad again. He spent his first weekend with grandparents and they really tried to follow the diet. I can't figure out if he got glutened here or with them. We picked him up yesterday afternoon and his diarrhea started back last night and has continued...
