ARCHIVED Dr. Green's New Book
teankerbell replied to CMCM's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah, all you have to do is touch your face, then put your hand near your mouth and down the tube it goes. I would still try to avoid it if possible. -

ARCHIVED Manufactured gluten-free Products
teankerbell replied to MallysMama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can't eat Pamela's cookies - they hurt my stomach. I am casein intolerant - I think there is dairy in those. But they are GOOD. And I have had problems with Amy's products. I use Lindeburg's risotto, rice, rice cakes and rice chips, Barbara's cereals and Imagine soups, gluten-free Bagels from the health food store. Jelly Bellies and Cheetos are good... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Is Not That Hard!
teankerbell replied to chrissy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Christine, I found out that roasted nuts are not gluten-free so I steer clear of those and eat only raw. But yes, when you are forced to do something, you either deal with it or let it get you down. I refuse to let this get the best of me. It is just the cards that were dealt to me and life goes on. I would rather have to control my diet than have... -
Steamed rice is fine at an Asian restaurant. Nothing is added to it. I don't know about Fried rice though, depends on whether or not they add soy sauce to it or what kind of oil they use or if they are using a wok that is contaminated. If you are allergic to eggs, then stay a way for sure, but I would still steer clear of it, personally. I went to Big...

When I lived in Mexico for a few months, we use to go to the market after church at night and eat Arroz Con Leche (rice pudding) and enchiladas (yeah a weird mixture but sooooo good!) Anywho, since being diagnosed, I have been looking for some safe dessert alternatives and I have gone back to eating more Mexican food because their food is less bland and...

ARCHIVED My Rhuematologist Floored Me Today!
teankerbell replied to Nancym's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Right, I feel I did my part to let them know and it is up to them now to decide what they want to do with the information. I can't wait till Easter to see how my mother will handle my food requirements. It will be the first major holiday for me. I have a contingency plan to bring my own stuff, if I find that my mom is getting too bent out of shape with... -
ARCHIVED My Rhuematologist Floored Me Today!
teankerbell replied to Nancym's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you Patti for the information and thank you for the support. The message board has been so helpful to me! I think I will try to get the book, soon and pass it on to my family. My parents feel that since they are symptom free, there is no concern. I told them that one of them passed the gene to me and (dad has had polups in the colon, mom skin... -
Frustrated, yes. Sometimes bewildered. Angry, no.

teankerbell replied to teankerbell's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Thanks for the help! We are flying so bringing a cooler would be a pain, but I think I can improvise. Meanwhile I will have DH call the hotel and see if they can accomodate us. Thank you again! :-D -

teankerbell replied to Nancym's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Patti, What is the name of Dr, Green's newest book? Yes, I am Dani s in DaniKali's step-mom. She has been really helpful with this whole gluten thing for me. I am no where as sick as she is with celiac disease. Right now we live about 1,000 miles away from each other but I hope she feels some sense of support from me on her difficult situation... -
I am going to be traveling in a couple of weeks. I was wondering if anyone has requested prior to arriving to get a small fridge for the room because of celiac disease? How cooperative have the hotels been? Do they charge you extra for this? I was wondering because I would like to eat out as little as possible. Thanks!

ARCHIVED My Rhuematologist Floored Me Today!
teankerbell replied to Nancym's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My Rheumatologist couldn't really specifically say that I have RA after my RA factor and inflammatory numbers started going down after several blood tests. But she said I have some sort of auto-immune problem for sure. And that was that. Couldn't really help me much more. But quite mysterous because why do I feel so bad and what is going on that is causing... -
ARCHIVED Help! Cornmeal!
teankerbell replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I will never, ever eat anything by Quaker Oats ever again. When I called them, they were specific about not being able to guarantee any of their products are safe from cross-contamination. And that was the BIGGIE for me. I noticed that I wasn't feeling better after being diagnosed and going gluten-free. Apparently, I was glutened by their rice cakes sis... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Is Not That Hard!
teankerbell replied to chrissy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am a newbie (about a month into it) and I agree too. In the beginning it was hard. I was use to eating bagels for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and spaghetti for dinner with a roll. I am casein sensitive so eliminating cheese and chocolate was extremely difficult. Looking for satisfying substitutes was really a challenge. But this website has... -

teankerbell replied to gointribal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Mine is below the belly button. It feels like the intestines are folding over in half. Like a piece of paper getting folded in half.
