Last summer I was diagnosed with RA - RA factor came back positive and inflammation levels slightly high. The usual RA symptoms - pain, stiffness in the joints, extreme fatigue, can't get out of bed. So, I have had 2 blood tests since then and the levels have come down, but I still felt crappy in general. Along with some minor intestinal problems - extremely...

ARCHIVED How Many Of You Decided You Had Problems Despite Negative Tests?
teankerbell replied to munchkinette's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I did the blood test, it was negative. I did the stool test, it was positive for gluten sensitivity and the Celiac gene. I faxed a copy of the results to my doctor to put in my files. He said if getting off gluten makes me feel better, then we have our answer. The blood test doesn't show if one is gluten sensitve. It looks for acute Celiac disease, therefore... -

ARCHIVED Any Outback Problems?
teankerbell replied to silly-yak-mum's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I went to Outback Steakhouse in IL and I had no problem. They did accidentally serve me the salad with croutons but I sent it back and they had no problem with that. Also, when I ordered I specifically asked the waitress to ask the cook to SCRAPE the grill before cooking my meat. I also ordered teh chicken plain. They gave me BBQ sauce on the side (I... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Eat At Boston Market?
teankerbell replied to sspitzer5's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I went to Boston Market in the Chicago area. Although they could not give me a gluten-free menu or had a clue of where to begin, they were very helpful. I asked them to give me the ingredients they use for the rotissierie chicken and they went and brought the bag and read the ingredients to me. Regular Rotissierie Chicken is gluten-free. All the veggies... -
ARCHIVED Amy's New gluten-free Products
teankerbell replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I ate it 3 days in a row with my chicken and that is the only thing I had not had control over those three days. In other words, everything else I was eating those days was what I made except for the rice cakes and I know Lundberg rice cakes are fine. My stomach hurt within 20 minutes of eating. Now when I made my own salsa, I had no reaction. -

teankerbell replied to momandgirls's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Go to Whole foods and get the Organic Chicken Broth. Some vinegars can be contaminated. If you go to Whole Foods website, you can print a list of gluten-free foods. Also, they label their shelves if it is gluten-free. Read the labels carefully, and look for the allergy alert. She should stay away from dairy for now. -

ARCHIVED Questions About Enterolab
teankerbell replied to momandgirls's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Azteca corn tortillas are gluten-free. The two companies I called stated that they use different machinery for the corn and flour tortillas and with that information, I believe any other brand you buy is that way. Instant rice will work and risotto. Buy lots of fruits and veggies, applesauce those are safe foods and travel pretty well. Juice is another... -

ARCHIVED Questions About Enterolab
teankerbell replied to momandgirls's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My blood test came back negative but the stool test from Entrolab came back positive for gluten sensitivity, postive for the Celiac gene and positive for Casein sensitivity. I am going with that - I don't care what the doctor says. The diet is helping (only 10 days into but better.) I am not doing the biopsy. I have my answer. -

ARCHIVED How Long Does It Take!?
teankerbell replied to lemonade's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have been on a gluten-free diet for about a week and it has been really hard. Finding out that even though I think I am doing the right things, I am still ingesting Gluten via Cross-Contamination (CC). I spent 3 days in row eating something with Amy's Salsa and even though it says it is gluten-free and there is NO allergen warning, I was apparently glutening... -
ARCHIVED Conflicting Results
teankerbell posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My celiac blood panel came back normal but my stool test said I have a problem with gluten and I tested positive for the Celiac gene (see stats in my signature). Earlier this year I was diagnosed with RA, but then after a couple more blood tests the rheumatologist wasn't really sure if it is RA. Too early to tell she thought and at least I have some... -
Last week I noticed the discrepency between their allergy list and ingredients list. The allergy list said it the fries were gluten free, the ingredients had wheat and milk listed. I was NOT happy when I saw that - it is confusing, then it came out in the news! I guess enough of us complained because before the news broke it was corrected on their website...
