  1. Hi, Melzo, I was on Zantac and TINY amounts of Phenergan for my second and third pregnancies, and was actually able to gain 12 pounds with each of them. With my first pregnancy, I tried to avoid meds, and ended up with uncontrolled nausea and vomiting for the whole pregnancy, developed preeclampsia and left the hospital 10 pounds under my starting...
  2. If he's going through a monster growth spurt, he might just be nursing more often to get you to produce more milk. Make sure you drink a lot! I suppose it's silly to tell you to get enough rest, isn't it?
  3. Thanks!!!I'm drooling just looking at it--but I don't have coconut oil or sweet rice flour. Could butter be substituted? What about the sweet rice flour?
  4. Everybody I know gets sleepy after a bowl of spaghetti! It's been a running joke at work for YEARS--and none of THEM has celiac! When half my coworkers went on Atkins, they all talked about how much better they felt after lunch...
  5. I was pretty tired for a few days when I had cellulitis--and that was when I was in my 20's and energetic! Sorry to hear about the tumor--frozen shoulder is no fun. Can they do anything about the tumor? Shrink it,or zap it with something Hey, Judy, I figured out how to get it to print bigger--is this easier for you to read?
  6. That sounds horrible! What are you getting shots for? Is it for food allergies or for mold or for something else?
  7. I REFUSE to pay $7 for a bag of brownie mix!!!! Has anyone tried to make these from scratch? Do you just use a regular recipe and substitute rice flour and xanthan gum?
  8. As far as I can tell, pounding down a ton of gluten would make almost anyone sick, celiac or not! Look at the number of anti-diarrhea and heartburn over-the-counter-meds there are! Or maybe all human beings are celiac, just some less so than others?
  9. The MD's and PhD's still don't get it, do they? I mean, this is our whole problem, isn't it? They look at a normal-to- overweight celieac and say, "No, you couldn't possibly have celiac, you're not wasting away," or they look at someone like me, with a sky-high IgG and, mild tummy symptoms, thyroid disease, and horrible rashes, and they don't care that...
  10. You don't HAVE to do anything you don't want to do! You are in charge of what goes in your son's mouth, not your doctor! If he has a problem chewing his food, then it can't possibly be good for his intestinal tract (with or without celiac) to have unchewed food passing through it! His stomach is probably producing extra acid to try to break down the...
  11. LOTS OF HUGS AND PRAYERS FROM THE OTHER END OF PENNSYLVANIA (I'M IN PITTSBURGH)--HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON1
  12. Is your one-year-old still getting any breast milk, or is he already weaned? For some reason, besides for being more easily digested than any other milk (including ALL formulas), the proteins and fats in breast milk go directly to bone and brain growth rather than fat. He may be thirsty, too. One year-olds can't always tell the difference between hunger...
  13. My second son had a full-body rash starting at 4 months (within 24 hours of receiving 3 vaccines). The pediatricean just shook his head and siad he'd never seen anything like it, and sentut to a dermatologist, who immediatley said it was a drug rash. It lasted for 8 more months, and morphed into severe blistering eczema. After about a year, it receded to...
  14. Oh, you've got it tough! I'm not familiar with Red Robin, but I'm somewhat familiar with autism (one of my kids has Asperger's), and I'm learning about celiac/wheat allergy/gluten intolerance. Stay with this board--the people here probably know more than any of the doctors, I'm not kidding. Okay. If it's gluten your little guy has a problem with,...
  15. I googled Boston Market Ingredients and got this website, which had all kind of helpful info: Open Original Shared Link. Here is what they said about Boston Market: Boston Market Update: In the last issue of _The Sprue-nik Press_, we listed an incorrect phone number for Boston Market. The correct number is 1-800-365-7000. We are sorry for this error...
  16. Hi, Judy, Sorry you're having such a miserable time! I had cellulitis about 18 years ago. I thought (but was never quite sure) that mine started from a bug bite on my leg. I was in Massachussetts playing in a music festival, so had not local doctor. A friend of mine called her local doctor, who told me to go to the ER, where I was immediately...
  17. I'm one of the less sensitive ones--SO FAR (you never know)--but I don't have an official celiac diagnosis YET, my symptoms didn't appear until my 40's, and I spent my first 30 years eating much less gluten than most people, simply because my mom didn't like bread (unless we were in Europe) or pasta, so I was just used to not eating it, anyway. One thing...
  18. Nancy, you deserve an A+ for effort! #1)DIET The only suggestions I can think of for your diet are, get rid of the diet soda (aspartame increases appetite, for one thing, and for another, my best friend's father when I was growing up was one of the scientists who developed it--and he would never let his family touch it. She told me that he said he...
  19. Whoops! I was thinking apartment co-op, not food co-op--and then "back to school" kinda flashed at me. Sorry! (rim shot?)
  20. Some green teas contain barley--read box carefully!!!!
  21. Modern Art?
  22. Okay, this is a very personal one for me, so I don't expect you to champion it , but: how about public elementary schools making instrumental music MANDATORY for all students, instead of either pull-outs or after school? Here in PA, the teachers whine about having to get the children ready to perform well on standardized tests, so they totally fight...
  23. Okay, for smell, we need computer printers equipped with scratch-and-sniff. Anybody have any ideas for consistency?
  24. Okay, we've all been asking questions about poop and discussing its various qualities, right? Well, I was wondering why there can't be a PHOTO of what a NORMAL poop is supposed to look like! And, for comparison, photos of typical celiac stools, stools that display evidence of malabsorbtion, etc.... We need a whole section of the board devoted to POOP...
  25. I'm just wondering whether the genetic "pre-wiring" for autism is linked or even identical to the gentetic "pre-wiring" for celiac. The stomach pains, joint pain, and brain fog you guys describe--imagine a toddler with DQ2 and DQ8 (breastfed until introduction of solid foods, including gluten) having to deal with severe stomach pains, joint pain, and brain...
