  1. One of the fellows I see at physical therapy has horrible, horrible joint pain, especially in his hips. He's had scads of X-rays, MRI's, etc, but nothing indicates a problem. I have no reason to suspect gluten, except I remember reading a couple of posts here (which of course I can't find! ) connecting the two. So if you know of any links, could...
  2. T, does she gag on spoon-fed liquid? Maybe it's just a learned swallowing kind of thing, where she needs to go very, very gradually from total liquid by mouth to liquid with something mixed in (is she already doing that with breastmilk and a little avocado mixed in, or is that allthrough the tube?), to avocado with a little milkmixed in, to plain avocado...
  3. My oldest (the one who had open-heart surgery) had what I suspect was a mild version of Meg's choking/gag reflex. I had to make all his foods very soupy so that he could swallow them without gagging. Things like cheerios, raisins, hot dogs, and peanut butter were impossible until he was at least 4 years old, and I cut grapes in slivers til then. I didn...
  4. Open Original Shared Link Nini--is this doctor anywhere near you? Sounds like a good one.....
  5. Hmmm, I wonder if you can talk to your nutritionist and see if she can come up with a recipe for a home-made formula, maybe with goat's milk, or even rice milk, though I don't know if it has the necessary protein. Depending on the brand, it should have calcium, but you need to be on the lookout for any kind of barley malt or malt syrup. I know you're...
  6. I took synthroid for a while, and then my doctor switched me to levothroid, saying she had heard of too many problems with synthroid (this was in 1991). Somehwere along the way, I ended up on Generic (original doctor, who was great, retired), Generic had too many variations, and I got put on Levoxyl. I got switched back to synthroid last year after a year...
  7. Would it be too crazy to asak the people from church who want to help if they could wear masks and gloves and help you house-clean and deal with the toilet? I know, I know, I'd have problems asking something like that, too--but that is what I would do for you if I lived near you! Besides, if they are helping with the cleaning, then whatever cleaning products...
  8. I've made rice crust pizzas from scratch--they're ridiculously easy and not even time consuming if you already have cooked rice hanging around. Considering that I don't eat wheat anything and my husband is Asian, it's not surprising ALWAYS have rice hanging around! That's why I'm so ticked off--wheat/yeast crusts are much more difficult and time-consuming...
  9. I can't offer anything helpful here, just wanted you to know that you're not alone. I have the same bloodwork--only my IgG is off the chart, everything else is normal (but I'd been gluten-free for three weeks before the bloodwork). Anybody else have the same? I'll be very curious to hear what the final answer is here!
  10. Oh, how awful for you, T! Do you think it might work better if you mix a little Neocate with a lot of your milk, and gradually increase the amount over several days (or weeks)? That's how we were able to get my oldest son to tolerate cow's milk. I think changing what's going into her tube cold turkey might be problematic whatever you put into it if she...
  11. I've read several times now that exercise has the same or better rate of positive effect as psych meds. Is there any way you might be able to add exercise to the yoga (which is great and I wish I could do it right now but I have to wait until my shoulder is better)? Even if it's just going for a walk for 30 minutes a day? Outside air is better than inside...
  12. Sorry if this is a repeat post, I couldn't find anything about it in my search. The ingredients list grain alcohol--wouldn't that make it a gluten-containing product? (In other words, do I have to dump my 2 mega-sized Pams that I bought at Sam's Club?)
  13. I was so excited when I saw a frozen Amy's rice-crust pizza--until I turned it over and found the price--$8.99 (and an 8- 10-inch pizza would only serve one real person--my 5year-old and 7-year-old could easily split it with no leftovers). Holy Toledo. I've always loved Amy's products, but the price tag on this is ridiculous. A rice crust is NOT expensive...
  14. Even HIV/AIDS is a grey area. Please see Open Original Shared Link. Apparently, there are no scientific studies that PROVE that HIV causes AIDS, while Peter Duesberg did prove that AZT( in the large doses that they used to use to treat AIDS) actually could CAUSE every known symptom of AIDS.
  15. Hi, Andrea, There's another thread on this board about vaccines ("weapons of mass destruction"). Shayesmom posted lots of truly frightening studies--one says that babies die at a rate 8 times the normal rate within 3 days of the DPT. Why aren't these things in the newspapers?
  16. Thanks, shayesmom, I only just saw this today--i printed it out for my husband. I'll also show it to any docotr who tries to insist on more vaccines for my kids!
  17. Lots of good information in those websites--thanks for posting them. My oldest had that horrible strange screaming/fever after his 2 month shots (oral polio, DTP, and Hib). I kept calling the pediatrician, and I only got to speak to the nurse, who told me on my third call in three hours that yes, the baby sounded "a little fussy." This was a baby with...
  18. Yes, I seem to be allergic to anything and everything with metal in it exept for my wedding ring, which is a narrow band of 24K gold. I wear a plastic watch, and I can't wear necklaces or earrings. I had a horrible reaction to a safety-pin that was in a second-hand shirt that I had bought (it was holding one of the shoulder-pads in)--and I only wore it...
  19. Using Airborne may or may not help, but you should certainly consider washing your hands whenever you leave school, whenever you eat, and the minute you walk in your own front door. Also consider keeping Wipees in your car to use as soon as you leave the grocery store. I'm not kidding--just think how many people have sneezed, blown their noses, and then...
  20. Welcome back, gfp! Glad to see you're still around!
  21. Count me in, too--I nursed the first for 2 1/2 years, the second for 22 months, and the third for 2 1/2 years. I think bf helped my oldest son recover from open-heart surgery, and kept him from being profoundly autistic as well. One of these days, they'll find the cure for cancer in breast milk!
  22. Here is a good recipe for gyro meat: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/cooking/re...6_30420,00.html. I've made this with ground chicken and it tasted really good, which surprised me. It does not contain gluten--but the frozen gyro meat our supermarket sells DOES. I assume that many gyro meats do--it's basically a meatloaf, after all. Also, the mix for...
  23. I asked for a skin biopsy because of a DH-type rash. The biopsy came back negative (this might have been because it was done 3 weeks after 1)going off gluten and 2) a 10-day course of prednisone). The fact that it came back negative doesn't bother me so much. What bothers me is that the biopsy sites did not heal well--they itch like mad (4 months after...
  24. What's the difference between instant potato spuds and potato flakes?
  25. Hi, Mamaw! The McIntyre Square Giant Eagle (on McKnight Road across from Border's) currently carries Bell & Evans chicken--I haven't seen chicken nuggets, but I imagine that they'll carry them! Their Bell & Evans fresh chicken is way in back, on one end of their fresh meat counter. Are the chicken nuggets going to be fresh or frozen? BTW,...
