Thanks for the suggestion--I will definitely try it! -
ARCHIVED Breastfeeding And Elimination Trials
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Guhlia's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Forgot to mention--it could also be a contact dermatitis type thing. Soaps, laundry detergent, bleach, and especially fabric softener could be a factor here. -
ARCHIVED Breastfeeding And Elimination Trials
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Guhlia's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My middle child had this. In his case, it was somehow triggered by vaccines (started 24 hours after his 2-month shots). It lasted 8 months, and for 1 of those, I was gluten-free and cf, and it didn't seem to make any difference to his rash. By the time he was a year old, all that was left of his rash was concentrated on his inner elbows, and when I... -
ARCHIVED Is Gluten Intolerace Always Hereditary?
Fiddle-Faddle replied to ruthla's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Lots of disagreement on this subject! Many believe that dietary response is the most accurate form of diagnosis. As far as hereditary, the predisposition is hereditary, but just because you are predisposed to get it doesn't mean you WILL get it. Something has to trigger it. Many people with Lyme Disease have a kind of non-celiac gluten intolerance... -
ARCHIVED Study: No Link With Autism And Vaccines
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Offthegrid's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This makes me SO MAD!!!!!!!!!! It's only telling part of the truth, and presenting it in a misleading way. Yes, vaccine manufacturers stopped producing most vaccines preserved with thimerosal in 2001. But they were allowed to continue to SELL the thimerosal-containing vaccines that had already been produced, and doctors were allowed to continue... -
ARCHIVED Alternating Diarrhea And Constipation
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Joyous's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Alternating diarrhea and constipation was one of my symptoms, too--but they were both mild enough that I pretty much ignored them. If you had asked me if I had intestinal problems, I would have said, "NO!" I was that good at ignoring them. Both the diarrhea and the constipation completely disappeared when I went gluten-free. (What prompted me to go... -

ARCHIVED Hoping Her Son Grows Out Of It
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Worriedwife's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Please educate this nurse as soon as possible before she harms a child by telling the parents he doesn't have celiac when he does. This is very important. Worriedwife, if I were you I would print out some info from celiac.com or from one of the other major celiac websites. Highlight the portion that says that doctors USED to think celiac could be outgrown... -
Hi, Rvberto, I'm north of you, in Pittsburgh, but come down to Morgantown a few times a year for work. If you are celiac, then you should know that studies have shown that even small amounts of gluten (1/16th of a piece of bread, for example) does cause intestinal damage even though the person might not feel any symptoms. If you were diagnosed as...

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks, everyone. I was starting to wonder if I was missing something (and I suppose I might be); I just about fell off my chair when Noah's mom told me that the doctors had taken out some of his lymph nodes, but I couldn't say anything, obviously. I mean, I've been crying my eyes out--I can only imagine the anguish she feels. I don't want to add to it... -

It works--just copy and paste into browser. THat's quite a rash! What does the doctor call it? -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I bet that you guys would know a lot about the lymphatic system. My #2 son just had to go to his friend's funeral (poor little kid was only 8 1/2 In the last couple of weeks, our whole community has cried their eyes out.). THis little boy had had meningitis as an infant, but recovered. However, he continued to have fevers and swollen lymph nodes... -

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I think most if not all of the commercial baby formulas are sweetened with either high fructose corn syrup or corn syrup solids. It's cheaper than sugar, so that's what they use, but high fructose corn syrup is definitely linked with diabetes. It's also addictive. They do need to have a high sugar content, because breastmilk does; obviously, the baby... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
With bottles, you are constantly buying formula, washing/sterilizing bottles, mixing formula, measuring intake--and the diapers are SO much smellier!!!! If you want to leave the house, you must pack bottles, formula, ice packs to keep it fresh, and you have to have a way to heat it, too. Not to mention how much more often the baby will get sick because... -
ARCHIVED 9 Mo. Old Daughter--desperate For Help
Fiddle-Faddle replied to mom2stelly's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Please research vaccines, as they can have some serious complications for at-risk babies. There are many vaccines your baby simply doesn't need right this minute, like Hepatitis B (unless you or she is an IV drug user). I understand the premise of vaccines, but the number of babies with horrible reactions has gone up exponentially with the increased number... -
ARCHIVED 'loving' Father, Grandfather?
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Ursa Major's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ursa, sounds very frustrating! I wonder if you and your daughter might be a little bit alike? Perhaps what affects you as her bossiness and overbearing-ness about "her way" (no sugar, no lard, etc.) is simply her way of trying to convince you of what she feels is obviously best. In the same way, you are trying to convince them that gluten-free oats... -
ARCHIVED Multiple Symptoms But No Answers
Fiddle-Faddle replied to amande01's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It is possible that your gut never did heal if you never went off dairy. Most people here report problems with dairy even after going off gluten. Many of us were able to add dairy back into our diets after a couple of months off. The above poster might be right about an anti-candida diet. Your diet does seem very starchy, but I guess most vegetarian... -

If mercury can be in the soil, then it can conceivably be in soybean crops, and in cattle feed, and in baby formula. www.lenntech.com/Periodic-chart-elements/Hg-en.htm I had no idea it could be in mushrooms. Guess I'm going to avoid those from now on! -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I totally agree. Leaky gut just lets gluten and casein through. -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I would guess that the majority of toxic chemicals in the mother would have already crossed the placenta before birth. One of the roles of the breast is to manufacture immunoglobulins specific to whatever the mother has been exposed to; but the actual virus or bacteria is not passed through into the milk. I wonder if the same holds true for toxic metals... -
In that case, you can honestly say you need to be tested because you KNOW you had a tick bite! Lyme can masquerade as all kinds of problems. Isn't it possible that you had some kind of bacterial infection, or some kind of parasite, which caused your initial symptoms, and THEN got bitten by a Lyme-carrying tick, and the spirochete that infected you simply...

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
She probably received 3-4 vaccines before she was ever fed by her mother. Most hospitals/doctors are still giving first shots when the baby is a couple of hours old. Unless she was poisoned in utero (possibly by dental work during pregnancy, or by something like Lyme crossing the placenta), or unless it is a congenital condition like cystic fibrosis,... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Of the babies I know who had repeated upper respiratory problems, the problems of one were definitely caused by dairy, and totally resolved when she was taken off it. The others ended up with ear infections, tubes--and developmental problems on the autism spectrum. Those that were breast-fed did significantly better than those that weren't. None of the...
