I understand your frustration about socializing while having celiac disease. I also have allergies to nuts, dairy, all forms of gluten including oats, strawberries and MSG. I don't worry too much about spices and herbs at home because I grow them and never use spice mixes and always buy organic. But when we were in Spain I always asked whether the food was gluten free. I had been gluten free for 4 years [diagnosed by a naturopathic doctor] but was tested by my medical doctor. The night before I ate a Sunday Roast beef dinner in a pub- gravy and Yorkshire pudding. Yes, that would cause your symptoms. So sad because ratatouille doesn’t call for pasta! That happened to me in Lisbon. We went to a seafood restaurant and the waiter assured me it was gluten free.
