  1. So it seems your symptoms fit severe GERD or Eosinophilic Esophagitis. (I understand medical costs would be very steep for you to get testing. At this point you need an endoscopy with biopsy for diagnoses.) The reason why a food journal is still not helping, is eosinophils, once activated, are active for up to 12 days. That does not count time to heal...
  2. Thanks for the update! Sounds like things are going to be better for the two of you. Happy Spring!

  4. There is a list of "usual suspects" that present with these symptoms. In some cases there has been some issues with misdiagnoses, so it is a good thing that you are aware of Celiac. (I have heard of some patients having gall bladders removed before eventually being diagnosed with Celiac. I have read some reports of non-functioning gall bladders before...
  5. He needs to be eating gluten for Celiac testing. There are some other issues that can be causing nausea. Are you going to get a refferal to a ped. gastro.? The majority of issues can be diagnosed by an endoscopy with biopsy. (In this case you should keep the diet "normal") An hernia can also present with a lot of nausea. Parasite testing can be run...
  6. Still waiting...... (for baby bunnies) Friday will be day 31.
  7. Part of the story seems to be missing. There is a small blank spot near the picture. It would be about the results of giving a booster shot to Celiacs with low titers. The way it is worded it seems as if a booster may not even be effective.
  8. Interesting switch up for me. I would say the OP has described my life to a T. Always careful about what I eat and I try to never overeat, because that causes pain and more bloating. I swear I can feel that food moving through my system most meals. Had my gall bladder taken out about 2 years ago. Had tests done to see if it was an emptying problem too...
  9. Loey and all the dear psillies, Happy Holiday to you all! It's Easter in our house and baby bunnies are due next week!
  10. With my daughter's case I would opt for the endoscopy with biopsy. She was diagnosed with Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitis. The scope can rule out other diseases and get a baseline on the amount of damage. It also rules out any doubt, "Do I really have to be on a gluten free diet for the rest of my life?"
  11. It is said that autoimmune disease symptoms are excerbated by female hormones.
  12. OK at 105 you need to start trying to get that fever down. Because my daughter has had the "vomitting cycle" and trying to take fever reducers by mouth just aren't an option some times. (The hospital has given Tylenol suppositories, which you probably won't be able to get.) A cool water bottle/ice pack under the armpit does work. If she is currently...
  13. Schatzki ring is commonly found in Eosinophilic Esophagitus. There is now evidence suggesting there is a connection between Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitis. What may be the simplest explanation of this, gluten is "triggering" your immune system to damage normal healthy tissue. Keep a food journal to see if there are other allergen triggers for...
  14. Ok genetic testing is not 98% accurate, like it is stated. We had conflicting results in that I was not matching my biological daughter (at least enough that from test results could not show mother-daughter relation) So we talked to a representative from Prometheus Labs that did the testing. (I figured obvious mistake, do the test again, because we...
  15. This is actually true! I was talking to elder milk farmer's daughters and they were telling me about the finer points of milk. (OK so I nearly blanked out from boredom but did manage to retain some information.) Different breeds of cows are known (actually bred for) the small differences to their milk. i.e. Higher fat content in this breed opposed to...
  16. Get the refferal to a pediatric gastroenterologist. There is a list of suspects that present this way. H. Poyri hernia parasite infection Celiac Eosinophilic Esophagitus congenital defect sorry I'm forgetting a few others.... All of these conditions can be ruled in or out by having an endoscopy with biopsy. You can also get a baseline of what...
  17. Now I just have to find some of those products. It look's like there has been another merger/buyout between Julie's and Glutenfreeda. Now I have to figure out when this happened?
  18. When it comes to switching to gluten free bread, TOAST or GRILL it. Even Ener-G bread is edible when it has been grilled or toasted. (If you have to eat it because of other food intolerances.)
  19. You could try working backward. Choose a well respected per. Gastro. Call that office and tell them you need a pediatrician for care and referral. They will give you some names and numbers.
  20. I can't wait to try this. Thank you for posting. What did you use fr your crust?
  21. Thank you for posting the info karen:-) I have a teenager who is eating a lot. Growing a lot too. So I am having a hard time keeping up with home cooked meals for him. I feel better when he is out at a friends house to send food with him.
  22. Welcome to the board. At first it is information overload. Ask questions here as you go along. All first degree relatives should also be screened. It is a horrible shock to find out everything you were trying to do right, was wrong. Things can be pretty rough at times. Keep gluten free favorite candy or treats on hand at all times. When you have to...
  23. Sounds like your son will have an endoscopy with biopsy for gold standard diagnoses. Keep his normal diet. Until after the scope.
  24. Many hospitals were doing the WLS, no not so many. In fact I'm not sure of any local hospitals doing them. They were having so many patients back in the hospital. A local hospital was going for "the top WLS center "title, to NONE. So with the fear of pending lawsuits, there goes your true statistics of WLS induced celiac disease ! I was in close enough...
  25. I suggest you take Biotin vitamin supplement. Most Americans are laking Biotin because it's main food source is animal liver. Wether you avoid it for taste or the warning that animal liver is too toxic from environmental pollution. It is beneficial for hair and fingernail growth and metabolism. A good daily vitamin supplement may be a good idea. Talk...
