  1. Well keep a food journal to see if accidental gluten really gets life threatening. Unfortunately most doctors will want you to do a gluten challenge to diagnose Celiac.
  2. I have heard of the bariatric surgery "triggering" Celiac. A person may have a genetic inclination for Celiac, but Celiac starts when the immune system reacts to gluten as a trigger to damage normal healthy tissue. There is Non Celiac Gluten Intolerance that the medical community is now starting to recognize. Even if your Celiac testing is negative...
  3. Lower right quadrant could be your colon. Have you tried a probiotic? Keep in mind some food triggers can cause damage for 12 days, before healing process time. I think it is in your best interest to keep a food journal.
  4. My daughter was diagnosed Celiac about 16 months old. Went on a strict gluten free diet and everything was fine until she turned 6. Then it seemed as if she was getting glutened. "D" started back up and she complined her stomach hurt. Made myself crazy trying to find hidden gluten. The she started vomitting. Made appointment went ped. gastro. 3 month...
  5. Men usually like to see boobs. The boys in my 5th grade class got busted looking at the tribal women from Africa topless shots! All shapes and sizes are interesting to them.
  6. Holy crap Loey! I think thieving from inheritance is just one of the lowest things that can be done. I have been so screwed over everytime there was an inheritance issue. My dad never settled anything when my mom died. He remarried and his wife has made sure NOTHING will go to any of the children from the marriage. (I know that is HIS fault for...
  7. There is a list of usual suspects that can cause the same symptoms. Remember the younger the patient the more there seems to be a relation to added vommitting. H. Ployri. parasite infection congenital defect (a teenage boy who posted a lot in his younger years and early diagnoses had surgery to correct the situation. It's been years now and he is...
  8. Lips like sugar ~ Echo and the bunnymen
  9. You can use a trick to see if you are getting shampoo in your mouth. Add baking soda to your shampoo. (not harmful to your hair and some peeps think it works great for a gentle deeper clean) See if you taste the baking soda during rinsing under the shower. If you taste the baking soda, you got the shampoo in your mouth. During Aveda product training...
  10. You might want to have some popsicles on hand after the endoscope. The throat can be a little sore/dry. Maybe a quick stop for a 7/11 Slurpee, if you have someone to sit in the car with your 8 year-old. (Those are name brands that I have never found gluten in. ) Those test results are high enough to change the diet right after the endoscopy. You might...
  11. This is why I warn newly diagnosed Celiacs. You will find out who your friends are. You no longer have rose colored glasses for the people in your life. You will see exactly who they are. What they choose to put value on. You have seen true, unconditional love from your mother. Thank your lucky stars you have such an awesome woman in your life! ...
  12. Yes testing would be a very good idea. If some of the symptoms are caused by something like H. Ployri., it can be treated. Or it can even be Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitus. (That is my daughter's situation. More cases are being diagnosed and now a connection between the 2 disorders is medically recognized.) A doctor's note with proper diagnoses...
  13. I gave up when I could barely eat. Even water was an issue. I felt like I was being stabbed in the back too. (at the time, I did have some betrayal of friendship too)
  14. In untreated Celiacs there is a connection to non functioning gallbladder. So it does depend on how long you have been gluten free. If you are able to determine if there is another food intolerance. I was gluten free for 5-6 years and then it was time to come out. The pain, nausea, and "D" that had started at that point was clear to me what the problem...
  15. They say that what happens in New York is an indicator for what will happen in smaller cities accross the country. It can play out on average of 3 years. New York city clothing stores have been closed for business due to bed bug infestation. Probably every airplane flight is just transporting the little blood suckers. YUCK This is a growing problem...
  16. I know there are a million trillion family variations for kugel recipes. The ultimate in ironic? This recipe goes very well with ham!
  17. I'm glad you have figured out what the problem is/was! If you are a clean freak, you must have gone ballistic. What did you have to do to get rid of them?
  18. Anpther holiday approaches so I could say But wait there's MORE!! But I have vented enough and I should have married an orphan!
  19. Unfortunately, I know your pain! Someone took off with about 1/2 of the gluten free chocolate birthday cake I worked my a$$ off to make. Just took it home with them. Iwas making about 3 cakes for kids birthday parties for the past few years. Now I know people (who can eat gluten) were just sitting waiting to take it home. I was recently sent an e...
  20. I love the sarcasm in Portal games. The song is kinda catchy too.
  21. I didn't suggest hosting the event for fear of the expense. People eat gluten free at my house all the time, and tust me they don't leave hungry! Stick to a meal that is naturally gluten free like... shish kabobs and rice (some deli/ butcher counters have these made up and ready to go. marinate with Italian dressing if you make these up yourself...
  22. Eat before you go to the restaurant. Go for some drinks to the event. (I have amuch better time with family if I drink!)
  23. OOooh please post a picture of the fluffy baby!
  24. Do you have any of your old testing results? Some GI docs hand over pictures of the endoscopy right after the procedure. If you have any info post it. If you are going to be tested, you need TO EAT gluten. Keep a food journal to help determine hidden gluten or find another food intolerance.
