There are a lot of members who do not participate any longer. It's hard to keep track of them. But I am proposing that one day a year all those who have in past and present been a member check in and say Hi and tell how you are doing. I am undecided as to what day of year it should be....not a holiday or a religious holiday....how about the first day...

Product: Anything in pot on stove or in oven & one pot contains gluten-free food Source of contamination: using same spoon to stir all pots - gluten from other pots get put in the gluten-free food pot Solution: keep stirring spoon for the gluten-free food separate. mark spoon with dab of magic marker or nail polish to help keep it straight -
ARCHIVED School Carnival Nightmare
debmidge replied to zarfkitty's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Aside from the celiac issue, flour is a food product and will attract bugs and rodents ... who thinks these ideas up? -
I think the the length of grieving or whether or not your "bout" with this grief is over or not is also dependent upon what other medical conditions you have as a result of the celiac ravaging your body. For example, if you were mis-diagnosed for years you may have a host of other conditions which has a greater impact on your every day living than just...

ARCHIVED Have I Been Glutened Or Are They Gallstones?
debmidge replied to Amelia01's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Amelia: my alkaline phosphate (spelling) was high too and liver AST and ALT were elevated for 3-4 weeks before and 3-4 weeks after surgery. It meant inflammation, pre-infection stage. I do not know if MRI is most visual of all tests. CAT did not pick up my gallstones at all nor did it tell doctor that my gallbladder was diseased. All I know... -
ARCHIVED Portuguese Wedding Shower
debmidge replied to Energy Seeker's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
As well as many of you know I am not celiac, but my husband is....so I have to say that even without celiac I cannot digest spicy foods so even for non celiac guests, a Portuguese menu might not be the best choice. I learned this many years ago when we were invited to a wedding (pre celiac diagnosis for my husband). It was buffet: husband could... -
ARCHIVED Have I Been Glutened Or Are They Gallstones?
debmidge replied to Amelia01's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had my gallbladder removed 8/16/07..... I have to interject here....my HIDA scan was showing that my gallbaldder was functioning, but the HIDA was useless in diagnosing my inflammed gallbladder disease. The gallbladder was going thru the motions but the gallbladder was on the track to becoming infected (serious like appendicitis). HIDA just shows... -

ARCHIVED Have I Been Glutened Or Are They Gallstones?
debmidge replied to Amelia01's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Had my gallbladder out 8 weeks ago and for 3 weeks before surgery and 3 weeks after surgery I couldn't eat at all I was so nauseas; perhaps if I did eat more I would have vomited. I had heartburn and indigestion, intestional pain with belching and rectum gas and felt as if I was dying. I lost about 17 lbs. I had gallstones but my particlar problem... -
ARCHIVED Avon Products
debmidge replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ok, here's the bad news: according to Avon Service Center Rep. Moisture Therapy with Oatmeal is gluten free --- logically this isn't possible so I am unsure if the Service Center's info can be trusted. I like the old way where you got the gluten-free product list.... -
ARCHIVED Am I Being Too Controlling?
debmidge replied to megsbaby's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My mother in law @ 80 years old didn't understand the gluten free thing either... She thought if you cooked the food for a real, real long time and at a high temperature it would "kill" the gluten off.....oh but that's how she always cooked..... Once we were invited to my sister in law's place for dinner and she was buttering Italian bread & eating... -
ARCHIVED Avon Products
debmidge posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Avon no longer provides a list of gluten free products What the consumer is to do is to call them at 800-445-2866 and ask about the item you want answers on. I called them about Skin So Soft Fragrance Free Body lotion (soft & pure) and Care Deeply with Cocoa Butter body lotion and they told me they are both gluten free It's obvious... -
I really have to comment on what a wonderful product this is. I add this to my gluten-free bread mix and it gives it such a good texture to the final product. I blend it in with the gluten-free Pantry mix; I use about 5 level tablespoons with not much extra water. It produces a dough very similar to what gluten bread dough would feel like; and...

ARCHIVED Finding gluten-free Products
debmidge posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What products do you have a difficult time finding? I mean maybe you can get it, but it's the last one on the shelf, in the back of a health food store and the bag/box is dusty and you can't tell what the expiration date is and you'd rather not buy it but you're desperate......and the food stores and Whole Foods, etc. don't carry it any longer - and you... -

ARCHIVED Whole Foods gluten-free Food Line
debmidge replied to Gemini's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My Whole Foods eliminated the Gluten Free Pantry line altogether and replaced it with the 365 Brand. I would prefer not to change at this time as I am satisified with gluten-free Pantry and I don't want to make bread using a learning curve with a new mix. Love the convenience of the mixes and fact that I don't have storage space to store all separate... -
ARCHIVED Stool Question
debmidge replied to Runner1978's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Runner It is entirely possible that you could have two digestive conditions going on: celiac and something else. This post is not to put the fear of God into you, but to annoy you enough to see your gastro as I never think it's a good idea to have a symptom and put off going to doctor as if you have something wrong it could take a wrong turn and you... -

Are you seeing a gastro? You need to mention this to gastro. This could be a bile issue -- like a bile duct blockage. -

orthodontist will know if you have enough room to handle a wisdom tooth; oral surgeon will extract it. If the tooth breaks through the gum, it's not an impacted tooth. If oral surgeon feels that wisdom tooth will not come thru properly it's impacted tooth. Some people have enough room for that extra tooth; depends on the size of your gum/jaw. ...
