  1. I agree it's so frustrating, especially if you get your prescriptions changed or need something new....
  2. I agree...sounds like a scam or worse. My last transaction on eBay was with a seller who wasn't sending the product I purchased. I no longer purchase from eBay as eBay doesn't care who they allow as sellers (they SAY they do, but this one was selling boot-leg Disney films and stating they were originals). Mea cupla as I should have read the remarks...
  3. My fear with Universal healthcare in US would be: 1) excessive taxes like in those countries with socialized medicine - take note of their tax percentage..Is there any reason why celebrities/musicians/actors from those countries become residents/citizens of US? 2) the system will be clogged with cases they can't get to 3) the bureaucrats will...
  4. The health insurance companies do have bargains with the drug companies: it's called "formulary" and this will hurt celiacs. How? if you definitely want a brand name prescription because you know it's gluten free and you're too sick to go calling every generic company to find out if their formula is gluten free, you might not be able to get the brand...
  5. Avoid her but it the subject comes up again, look her dead in the eye and say that it's none of her business if you have 10 wedding dresses. My sister in law has 2 diamond engagement rings from the same man she married. Perhaps your co worker is a "green eyed" monster. And I too had purchased a sale gown about a year before I got married ($50)...
  6. JUST a warning! I did this and the water shrunk the dress. I'm not kidding. I learned that the lining was made of unwashable rayon. It was a size 10 and now it's about a size 4.
  7. Is Almond Breeze a milk dairy product or a soy product? and where in store would I find it?
  8. Just be careful with Mrs. May's stuff as they are imported from China...we used to buy them and noticed they didn't state "gluten free" only "wheat free." I called Mrs. Mays here in north america & they couldn't answer the gluten-free status question. We have since stopped buying the product. So proceed with caution -- due to recent newstories...
  9. This decrease in benefits for Medicare is scary....doctors will want to refuse to take on new elderly patients and those on disability and the dependents of those on Medicare would suffer too, like children of people on disability. This just further proves that the government should not be in the business of health care. I am not against importing...
  10. Tinkyada It re-heated in casserole just like wheat pasta does. Doesn't taste rubbery or grainy.
  11. Warning: logic being applied - what I am about to say isn't for sake of an argument but it is based on economic principles. I am trying to put this simply for all to understand. Keep in mind I too may not necessarily agree with our system (USA) but I can explain it. As someone who has been in insurance business all my adult life and understand rate...
  12. Before I make an opinion (private opinion) on this I'd need to know: credentials of doctors offering the alternative treatment in other countries locations of those other countries types of alternative treatments and the ailments they are for peer review of the alternative treatments (both in that country and in USA teaching hospitals) mortality...
  13. Thanks - Just wanted to know if anyone has personal experience with this type of condition and what happened to them. Was it ever found to be cancerous?
  14. Let my start off by saying I do not think US govt. can do a good job with healthcare - I do not trust them with my health - case in point is US govt. military hospitals and especially how a veterans hospital misdiagnosed my husband and disrespected him...anyway I think that we are going to see a great change in our healthcare system as many people are rising...
  15. This is my official diagnosis and it's recommended that I have gallbladder removed. what am I dealing with?
  16. Well however it goes, my husband was as healthy as "horse" as they say until he was 27 - woke up one morning with the big D and it was all gone as of that day. Who knows that was going on inside his guts prior to that fateful day when the diarrhea started? Perhaps he had celiac from a child and at age 27 it caught up with him?? I don't know. I guess...
  17. Lorka The itching and buring means it's not getting better. And every time you have a compacted/hard bowel movement you'll reopen the fissure (deep in the tract). The healing of the fissure is causing the itching and burning. Also, a untreated fissure can turn into a fistula (or a dead end fistula). I know you said you went to doctor but...
  18. I always gained weight on Pill and once really read the Physican's Desk Reference about the side effects of weight gain. It mentioned that at higher doses (like mine was) diabetics had to watch out as it could change their glucose levels. Now, I am a firm believer in watching carbs to lose weight. I believe Dr. Atkins - that higher blood sugar levels...
  19. Thank you and may God watch over you and yours. (I couldn't open the link from the prior poster) If celiac gets in the way, then please give a thought to protecting your health. While you are prepared to serve your country, as your fellow countryman(woman) I do not expect nor want you to lose your health by doing so.
  20. To me, the most expensive part of celiac, other than bread, is the breakfast cereals. Other than these two products, we aren't buying anything different or special that is more money than normal.
  21. Lorka: I've been through what you're going thru. Have you seen a protologist yet? My health problem was hemorrhids and two fissures (from the stool cutting the lining as it was leaving my body). I too had vaginitis - it seems to go along with this condition. The fissures had to be closed by surgery - no other way. I also had to have a spincterectomy...
  22. I have a suggestion that may or may not help: join a celiac disease support group in your area...sometimes these local chapters buy in a group and maybe get group discounts or when combining their mail orders the shipping charges are shared by all (which would be less than if you ordered it yourself). The group may even know where the best prices in area...
  23. I'm going to go out on limb on this one and say that the nurse probably wants to stress that all reasons for the symptoms should be explored before you claim it's celiac. She probably does not want you to overlook another condition (or you might have celiac plus something else). Inasmuch as my husband has a blood test diagnosis (he got endoscopy...
  24. Gosh, that's way too stressful. Good luck. My husband has diagnosis and he is still disrespected.
  25. This situation is non unusual. There are a lot of "Doubting Thomases" . Just this morning I was telling my husband that there's someone in his family who still doesn't believe that smoking causes lung cancer, etc. (because she smokes -- we're talking about a 54 year old woman not a kid -- & has to justify her smoking and she's one of the doubting...
