  1. Well I am taking this one step at a time as it's all new to me. It's as if I've been living on another planet and suddenly came here.... so I got this hibatchi type of small grill - about 14 inches long and 6 inches tall and wide - I don't know nuthin about a chimminey so back to the lighter fluid....does one use this fluid with the wood chips/lump...
  2. I am not calling anyone "old" but the older we get the less our bodies make "intrinstic factor" which is needed to absorb Vitamin B12. Since we all age differently at differing rates we do not know when or if this will be occurring to us. Someone please make observation on this if I remember this incorrectly, but I thought B12 was related to anemia...
  3. Jay: You pose an interesting question that many really can't answer. In my husband's case, he was ill for about 27 years (see his capsule below)..when he was given the blood test for the antibodies the result indicated "strongly positive." I asked the gastro then if my husband just came down with celiac and if not, how long has he had it? The doctor...
  4. From a recent job changer to another: Best Wishes! I was the best decision I ever made!
  5. I called Novartis Consumer the other day and they informed me that Gas X and Gas X with Maalox were gluten free. I also saw this statement on my Clan Thompson site - I was pretty surprised as last I heard they were not gluten free..... So two sources, Novartis Consumer the manufacturer and Clan Thompson advises they are gluten-free.
  6. My husband tried this and it stirred up his restless leg syndrome (and his whole body shook while he was sleeping as well as his legs were "bicycling" while he was sleeping).
  7. If they heat it long enough, does it turn into a diamond ? But seriously, I have a question: When you use the wood stuff, do you have to use a "starter" like you use with charcoal grill? I'd prefer not to use something like that.
  8. My husband's depression was severe and went on for years. He found he could not take anti-depressants as they gave him extreme shaking - even while he was sleeping. They all affected him neurologically like this. Then we found out he has celiac and the majority of his depression is gone (still there, but it's due to situational issues). He used to...
  9. Grey Your dilema sounds like what my husband went thru before he was diagnosed. What was doctor's advice about diabetes? Not saying you have it, but I'd be curious to hear what they had to say about it. After you get their advice you can do with it what you will. It took several months before my husband's symptoms finally died down. Eat as little...
  10. Watching that brought back the memories of the days when my husband was so full of gas, prior to gluten-free. How I forgot about those days until I saw this clip.
  11. This is all new territory for us...we never had one as we used to live at very strict apartment complex which would not allow them. We can where we are now but we were so "out of the grilling" loop we never considered getting one. Today I picked up a glass top outdoor table and a cheapo hibatchi and now need the element for the fire....I saw 365 Brand...
  12. Carla Would the McCann's happen to be the selection McCann's Imported Quick Cooking Irish Oatmeal In the 1 lb box?
  13. I ran across Heartland Ingredient's cold cereal: Raspberry Flavord CerOs (gluten free) Purchased it; it tastes better than it smells.....very good gluten-free cereal ...low in sugar as compared to sweetened cereals; has fiber 2 g per serving Ingredients: pinto bean flour, white rice flour, beet sugar, salt, raspberry sour (maltodextrin-corn) citric...
  14. It's my receipe - this is the kind of receipe where you and adjust it to how you like it. Read through before using ... I found I had to "tinker with it" - it makes enough for us for 2-3 nights of dinner - rarely 3 if my husband goes overboard - which he usually does. Like it cheesey ?: add more cheese Like it dry? : use less milk Not enough meat...
  15. What does Millet taste like? Bland like white rice? spicey? Bitter? Unique? Have an after-taste? What "family" is it in? wheat, rice, etc. Is it coarse? What would I make with it? Breads or desserts? Does it subsitute well for other ingredients?
  16. Use things; love people.
  17. ER Betty I didn't see your post until after I PM'd it to Dide. Dide please share with Betty - thanks.
  18. I tried searching for this thread and couldn't find it under charcoal; I am looking to know what brands of charcoal or wood chips are gluten-free safe to use. Some posters gave me actual links to sites and I wanted to go back to that thread and I really can't find it. Can someone re-direct me to that info or please repeat the info? Thanks Debbie
  19. If you are all wrapped up in yourself, you are overdressed.
  20. What is the Product name? You might have to do this to it Example: J*e*l*l*o otherwise it could repeat "lame advertisement."
  21. My husband's favorite casserole: Macaroni and cheese with ground beef...... For years it was his favorite (prior to celiac disease diagnosis) and now I am thrilled to make it with gluten-free macaroni and Kraft American cheese......when he first went gluten-free he was afraid to eat it again even with gluten-free ingredients and now finally he relented...
  22. ..please refresh my memory ..what's millet? P.S. Found Commodities page and corn is still less expensive than wheat (per bushel) at this time. Hope all the drought areas get their rain. I heard it's been a 2-yr drought (pretty much that long)...
  23. You don't want the pylori bacteria either, the antibiotics for that are strong. I don't know what would be the best choice however...it just stinks when you don't feel well.
  24. I purchased Panasonic however this happened: I callled home from work and my husband couldn't hear me...only when I called from work phone...when I called home from my cell it was Ok. I brought the Panasonic back. Now I bought a Radio Shack and it is like two tin cans and a string! Very tin sounding and muffled. I have to return it too.
  25. Lisa: In Canada, if you contact the Bureau which licenses doctors will they tell you where your doctor went? where he'she's practicing now? I know here in NJ there's a website for this purpose. Deb
