ARCHIVED Does This Test Still Exist?

Quest Diagnostics (a blood test company) has a page on Celiac and the tests that can be ordered for it. You can print this page from website out and show your doctor that it still exists....My God, the test wasn't around years ago so why would they suddenly stop "making' it....that makes no sense at all. I don't have their web address but sure you...
  2. I think I put too much liquid in? It came out like a flat bread, but was soggy in the center. I used Chebe Italian Flat Bread Please tell me what I did wrong.....
  3. I did this at a local restaurant at 2 in afternoon and the waitress kind of rudely told me to get lost in so many words (manager wasn't expected until height of dinner meal 6PM) and she was too busy to talk to me....very disappointing and I didn't return at 6 PM since that is a real busy time for them on a Saturday night.
  4. A lot could be said to "not" be officially diagnosed...especially for life & health insurance issues.
  5. God bless all those who are participating on our behalf....
  6. This restaurant sent me a flier...just wondering if anyone had gluten-free meal there? Their website doesn't state anything about gluten-free...
  7. My husband and I are the exception, not the norm as he has celiac disease & other food issues. This being said we do not eat food prepared at anyone else's home - we will bring a meal for him. He's only just recently been going to restaurants which have gluten free menus (Outback, Charlie Brown's, etc.).
  8. I have an interest in doing this too....from what I learned, however, there are more registered dietitians than jobs at this time (due to hospitals closing down a lot of these professionals are competing with each other for jobs). But if you have a source of clients then go for it. It could be the most enjoyable work you've ever done. I believe...
  9. Most everybody on board knows my husband has celiac and I don't; but I wanted to mention that I can't drink herb tea as they bother my allergies (don't know if the tea has natural mold/sulfa or it's because I have allergies to plants, but herb teas give me a terrible stomach ache and diarrhea). Always have... Debbie
  10. Spoon glutening is high hazard when eating at other person's house. This was one of the rules my mother in law could not get used to. That's why we had to stop having meals/holiday meals at her house. As she got older (80's) there was no way she could learn to do it differently. It became a "Russian Roulette" eating there.
  11. I always (no joke intended) hated that plastic liner. I felt it repelled the moisture it was supposed to soak up. Give me cotton any old day (however due to surgery, haven 't needed this stuff in years).
  12. Due to cross contamination potential, I will not buy or take hand me down any kitchen gadget or baking dish or glassware or utensils or table settings, etc. that was pre-used (even slightly). Not worth the risk.
  13. We use Kinnikinnick cornmeal and cornflour too and breadcrumbs, guar gum and rice bran. I get corn bran from somewhere else: I don't recall right now.
  14. A tip from Loreal was that fragrances may contain gluten; non scented does not mean it does not have a fragrance in it - it just means that it has a "fragrance masking agent" in it. Fragrance free is your best chance of something having no gluten in it. I use DHS Shampoo as its fragrance free and from reading the ingredents appears to be gluten free...
  15. If you are looking for Italian sausage Look in supermarket for the brand Premiero...I BELIEVE when I contacted them last year they said they were gluten-free. But this might just be a NJ/NY regional food here.....
  16. Spunky I guess it's one of those things that you have to go through before your understand the "other guy's" point of view. Prior to my husband being celiac, I thought gluten - free diet was a quirky fad like vegan is a fad. I couldn't see the purpose of gluten free living as much as I could see the purpose of vegan. A vegan diet would be...
  17. Hi I was slowly recovering...the procedure inasmuch as it was "same day" took a lot out of me (probably because I was so sick before it). It took almost 6 weeks after surgery to look at food again. Now I eat regular diet but I do limit my fats. And vegetables go thru me.... The Questran is a good product (quells the diarrhea). I gained about...
  18. I highly recommend it as well. My non gluten peeps who eat it say they cannot tell the difference. Some even like it better than wheat! My problem with the dough was it was impossible to roll out....so I dvided it into balls - each ball the size to match the pie pan. Mushed the ball into the center of the pan and with my clean hands/fingers mushed...

  20. so true...
  21. Very sorry to sound negative, and I don't mean this in a "mean way" but if you're looking for advice, I'll tell you to stay home rather than deal with an issue that seems to be your "cross to bear" for your entire married life. It doesn't sound like they are feeble - sounds like there's no respect (esp. since you offered to pay the price of the gluten...
  22. The horse was an extreme choice and unnecessary as a service dog would do just as well. I am not questionning the horse's intelligence and many people will know more than I do about this, but wouldn' t the cannine have more intelligence for a job such as this? (Over the minihorse?) And wouldn't be it true that a dog is trained to go to bathroom regularly...
  23. You are missed! Happy Happy Birthday!
  24. It is entirely possible to have celiac and a wheat allergy together. Both are immune disorders; but celiac is much more serious and complicated. You cannot determine a wheat allergy from endoscopy. Wheat allergy will give you gastro symptoms too and skin conditions. People who don't know any better lump these two conditions interchangably...
  25. Open Original Shared Link has best breadcrumbs Left bad taste in mouth: Gillian's Aramath - funny taste Corn crumbs : passable but kinnikinick better
