ARCHIVED gluten-free Hair Products
debmidge replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had a phone discussion with a L'Oreal rep last month and she said that Fragrances in general can be suspect (of gluten) and there's no way to tell if there's gluten in a fragrance (unless of course you have a reaction). She mentioned that unscented doesn't mean that there's no fragrance in it - it has a "masking agent." And that Fragrance free has no... -

ARCHIVED Should You Thank The Catholic Church?
debmidge replied to Alexolua's topic in Publications & Publicity
Dear Yellow Rose: It's great idea to post those websites. By the way, what is in the small vial that is prepared in advance of the mass and is on the altar with the rest of the chalasis? Deb P.S. I find that this is a very, very emotional topic (even for me a non-celiac Catholic). It's similar how the people in the restaurant topic feel ... -
ARCHIVED Should You Thank The Catholic Church?
debmidge replied to Alexolua's topic in Publications & Publicity
Fidd-Fadd: This theory makes sense....that since here in US we are taking so long to diagnose celiac disease that by the time the disease is diagnosed, the patient is at their worst health which interferes with their ability to practice their religion fully. Very good point. Deb -
ARCHIVED Realized Something
debmidge replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Public Libraries have large book called "Physicians Desk Reference" (usually in the Reference Book Dept.) which is the actual reprint of the drug company's report on their drugs (ingredients, interactions, dosing, etc.) and you may find the ADVERSE REACTIONS for the drugs you are interested in. As for me, Dilaudid gives me the best pain relief ... -
ARCHIVED So, I Hate The Writers Strike.....
debmidge replied to angel-jd1's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
This is not a criticism of the shows you like to watch as they are probably on after I go to sleep anyways and I don't watch them & don't know what they are all about..but I have basically stopped watching TV years ago as nothing interested me. So I am not missing much I feel. I don't watch the reality or dancing or Idol shows anyway. Oh,... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Has Now Affected My Marriage
debmidge replied to MrMark's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Mr. Mark: How long have you been on gluten-free diet? How long have you been married? How many children do you have and their ages? Were either of you married w/children before? My reply is going to be based on : this is only marriage for both of you, you're both under 10 years of marriage and have 2 children under 10 years of age. My advice... -
ARCHIVED Need To Make A Bed Comfortable
debmidge replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have had insominia for years and years and I tried all those suggestions. I have white noise, fat N fluffy matress topper (but the bed itself is too hard). Sleep # - My husband doesn't want one. I take Ambien for so long that I am immune to it now. I think too much at night; not only write it down but will call my work #and leave myself a message... -

ARCHIVED Celiacs In Nj, Pa And Ny
debmidge replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The package I have in fridge says "Trenton" however I wouldn't be surprised if they have their executive offices in Piscataway. I think the plant is in Trenton. It has to be the same company because no other company can use the TAYLOR PORK ROLL name due to trademark infringement.... When I have a moment this week, I'll call the Piscataway Chamber of... -
ARCHIVED Liver And Gallbladder Stones
debmidge replied to ricardo29's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Totally agree (I had gallbladder removed 8/07) and I add: if you pass a stone or more than one, it could scar your bile duct tube which is a severe problem in that you'll need special surgery --- not all general surgeons have done this type of surgery. A bile duct tube is very delicate. My reading of this topic last year led me to discover that the... -
ARCHIVED Period Loss
debmidge replied to Bananna's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sounds like you need to see ob/gyn to get hormone testing and medical advice - it doesn't mean you need to take hormones but at least it'll give you the answer to the question : are you in premature Menopause? And is your body too far into it to reverse it? The doctor may just want you to continue to menopause naturally and it may or may not have been... -
ARCHIVED Celiacs In Nj, Pa And Ny

Franceen: I think it's the only product which Taylor makes (Taylor Pork Roll). I also checked my Clann Thompson and didn't find anything on it.....I'll check again. -
Yes, Chef is willing to accomodate, but however owners probably are more interested in keeping the customers orders in a flow rather than taking the time to prepare something special that'll require too much special handing. I recall that when Burger King was a new fast food restaurant, they advertised with this song "Hold the pickle, hold the lettuce....

If that manager keeps that up, that company will eventually be sued for Employment Practices/Discrimination/Harrassment. She needs sensitivity training and more management training otherwise she's a liability to them...and I am serious. Someone else may not be as nice as you.

ARCHIVED Celiacs In Nj, Pa And Ny
debmidge replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I wrote to them 2 years ago and did not get a response. Thanks for telling me about FDA vs. USDA because I was thinking that it was definitely gluten-free. Let's cross our fingers that it is gluten-free! That'd be wonderful!! YUM! -
ARCHIVED Celiacs In Nj, Pa And Ny
debmidge posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ingredient statement leads me to believe it's gluten-free. Does anyone eat this and it's OK (gluten-free)? (I limit post to NJ, PA & NY as it's a regional item, but if you're in another state & you can purchase it there - I was under impression that it's not obtainable outside of this area -- and you know about this being gluten-free... -
ARCHIVED Cosmetics

Disappointment that happened for me late last year. AVON stopped printing a gluten-free product list and now says you have to call them at their 800 number on each product. Well I tested them and called about a body lotion that I know has OAT protein in it and they told me that it's gluten free. So much for overseas cust service reps.....and Avon for... -
ARCHIVED Skin Care Need To Be Gluten Free?walmart Products
debmidge replied to horsefarmer4's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Last month I called L'Oreal about one of their skin lotion products and rep told me that anything with fragrance could have low level of gluten in it. I do gluten-free skin products because my celiac husband has this tendency to kiss my face and I don't want him to get any gluten on his lips. Anyway, the L'Oreal rep said that unscented has ... -
ARCHIVED Cream Hill Estates Oat Recipes
debmidge replied to hayley3's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
How do these oats measure up to Bob's Red Mill which special bag states they are separate from wheat source too? I purchased Bob's Red Mill and now I am second guessing my choice that I didn't get this Cream Hill Estates Oats....did I do wrong thing? -
This is a great list and this is what a special class for servers should include. Unfortunately, this (the items 1-7) is part of the nature of the problem: the restaurant does not want all this responsibility. They want quick and easy ....a march of customers coming and in out which do not require special handling which will clog up their assembly...
