ARCHIVED Weight Loss Suppourt Thread (shannonl) And Any Others Who Want To Join
Kaycee replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Welcome back Autumn. I didn't have a chance to notice you were missing, as I was missing too. But I was thinking of everybody here and feeling I was letting everybody and myself down by hiding. Lonewolf, great you have lost two pounds, makes my pound sound a bit small, but I am happy to take any lb that decides to go west. And Mayflowers you have lost... -

Lonewolf, it is good to be back. Weekend is nearly finished. Weekends aren't too bad, my worst eating days are Thursday and Friday. I know I will overeat those days, so I give myself a treat then, chocolate or a wine. My mum arrives from the south island tomorrow and her request is for sausages. Not too spicy, but sausages none the less as they do... -
I feel a little bit envious of those who were overweight and have lost weight without trying, since going gluten free. I wish I could say the same, but it looks like, I have missed the boat, as I am now over a year down the gluten free trail, and there has been no weight loss. But I do put it on when I get glutened, which seems to be pretty much everybody...

ARCHIVED Bag Of Gluten!
Kaycee replied to CMCM's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I see bags of "gluten flour" in the supermarkets too , and yuck, it makes my stomach turn. How could anybody with a conscience even consider marketing the stuff! Cathy -

Hi, I am back. Have had a couple of so so weeks, down in the dumps and like someone said previously, things all turned to custard. Yes I know that saying quite well. I have had to re-look at my diet. I have to keep my chin up and my motivation going. I decided it is time to give myself a bit more praise than what I do. So now in my food journel... -
ARCHIVED Frozen Muffins Really Really Good, Bread Not So Much.
Kaycee replied to larry mac's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
CL I am drooling over the waffles. I might just have to invest in a waffle maker. Thanks for putting in the chocolate chip muffins and the brownies. It just wouldn't have been right without you putting something like that in. Cathy -

ARCHIVED How Strict gluten-free Diet Has To Be?
Kaycee replied to dalma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome Dalma. Yes you do need to be weary about medication that you are taking. I would advise you not to stop taking your medication until you have seen your doctor, who could advise you on alternatives. Your medication might already be gluten free. I know it is quite a lot to take on, and it sounds like you have come to terms with gluten free food... -
ARCHIVED Any Phd Chemists Out There?
Kaycee replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Karen, we are a sick bunch. You with the unusal smell and the eating of cigarette ash. Would you believe my earliest memory was eating dirt! I think that is a terrible thing to attribute to my first memory, but the indignity of it was that my brother was going to tell on me. Cathy -

lm, have you mastered the bread yet? Here is a recipe I came across, you might like to look at it. 385g gluten free bread mix 100g milk powder 18 grams baking powder 2g sodium bicarbonate Add 350 mils of water, or 300mls of water with 1 egg. In a bowl mix the dry ingredients together. Whild stirring, add the water or water/egg mix and continute... -
ARCHIVED I Just Made A Chocolate Cake !
Kaycee replied to georgie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Georgie you could always replace the butter with margarine. That doesn't have dairy does it? The slice is so bad, I will have to try it again and modify it before I would even give out the recipe. As it was I cut down from 150g of butter to 100grams and it was still too oily! It wasn't a Healtheries one, so that is good. I've just found a double chocolate... -
ARCHIVED I Just Made A Chocolate Cake !
Kaycee replied to georgie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Georgie, I did enjoy. That is exactly the same cake I cooked for my first gluten free attempt. We get Simple flour here as well in NZ. I like it because it has no soy or dairy in it. I made a slice today, and it was not a success so I won't pass on the recipe! Too much butter in it! I am also in the throes of making a Simple loaf of bread, in the breadmaker... -

Kat, please stay and let us know how you are going. Food like cigarettes are an addiction and we will support you, and you can support us. You saying giving up wheat was the hardest thing. I disagree. Smoking for me was hard, and I had lots of practise, but the hardest thing for me physically was giving up coffee a few years back after a 15 cup a day habit... -
ARCHIVED Getting Back On The Wagon
Kaycee replied to super-sally888's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You are not the only one who has done that. I think drinking makes it harder especially for me as a few drinks makes me think I am invincible and I loose the art of caring about myself. I usually stay away from alcohol now, not because I am scared of what I might do, but more because it has lost its appeal. So Sally, like you said, forgive yourself... -

ARCHIVED Is There Something About Gluten Free Bread Etc... ?
Kaycee replied to buttonburger's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Pasta used to be one of my favourite food, I would always make an excuse to have it, but now that I am gluten-free I make excuses not to have it, because I don't feel like it. Bread, I used to eat by the loaf, well maybe not in one sitting, but I would have my fair share, but now, I am lucky if I eat a gluten-free loaf in a month. For me, it is because... -

Kat, Well, here I am another one putting my hand up to being a non smoker. I tried quite a few times to give up. Finally I gave up while pregnant with my last child, nearly 19 years ago. Not long after that the price went up and I thought, no way am I going to pay that much for smokes. I am not saying it is easy, it was hard. Good luck Kat, and hopefully... -

Autumn, you poor thing. Take care. I hate that when getting glutened happens. It always seems to be a witch hunt after, and in the long run no definate answer is to be found. It is so frustrating. I seem to get tummy aches, followed by diahroea, but that hasn't happened for a while. And the brain fog. I haven't had that for ages, but I do remember stumbling... -

Mayflowers I have got here too late then! I'm very late 40's, not quite menopausal, wouldn't have a clue if I was perimenopausal or not, but imagine that is me. But you said nothing about being 50, does that mean in a couple of months this trying to loose weight and not being able to do it will be just a problem of the past. Somehow I don't think so. ... -

Autumn, sorry you're not feeling too great. It's not fun and I know when I get sick I tend to eat more. My walking has been pretty good. Today was an easy day, as I was cooking and cleaning and shopping. St Patricks day, on Saturday. There will be quite a gathering of the Irish in town on the Saturday, so I might just head on down and join in the... -

lm Would love to say you are crazy, but then so am I. I have this baggie thing too! Do you recycle yours as well? Enough said. I made blueberry muffins today. They probably won't get to the freezer, so I'll save a couple of bags there. And I made a banana cake for the birthday boy. I know where you are coming from about the muffins. I freeze and... -

Another day down. Hubby's birthday on Friday and a workmates tomorrow and she will be bringing in morning tea for us. She is so sweet, she wanted to know what I could eat. So it looks like there will be rice crackers and brie for me. I deliberately forgot to mention chocolate! But morning tea shouts are not a patch on what they used to be. Once upon...
