  1. Did my morning walk again, think I already said that. It was quite dark and eerie as me and Maureen heard a morepork, which is a native owl, and it does says morepork, hence it's name. Love owls. Work was, so hot, even with windows and doors open it was stifling and sending me off to sleep. Air conditioning? What's that? Wish we had that, but no, it...
  2. Hello Kat, thanks for that, I'm quite happy to call you Kat. Now I will know who I am talking to, because at times even my mother could not remember whether my name started with a K or a C, hence I call myself Kaycee! Well on here anyway, for years it was always Catherine as my dad wanted my whole name, as that is what they christenend me as. I shortened...
  3. Autumn, that is so awful about your friends family. We will be thinking of you. And yes I know what you mean about those carbohydrates. They make me hungrier, I am trying to limit them. I am now trying to go as natural as possible with the food I eat, except for the chocolates. I really avoid all those additives as when I eat too many of them, my body...
  4. My day of bikinis are also long gone. But hubby remembers a certain green one from what feels like 30 years ago! Got a photo of it somewhere, but I am sure I can't find it! Been busy busy. Been under a bit of stress with ero (school inspectors) not a good report, but we will survive, they keep picking till they find something negative. Yesterday I...
  5. My son is now the proud owner of Wii. I am maintaining my weight. I would like to loose another stone and a half which makes about 35 pounds. Probably 15 kilos. It is a struggle. If Viola can get away with DQ Sundaes, that could be the secret to loosing weight. Nice thought. And Viola, I found it very easy to loose weight in my twenties, but now...
  6. AutumnE, glad you are feeling better. Lost 6lbs, thats great, but like you said most likely water! Aren't husbands funny, playing on Wii's. But there are worse habits. I read that bit out to my son, who is a Wii fan and couldn't understand what the problem is, as like he says Wii's are fun, all you have to do is flail your arms around. But in having said...
  7. I'm still here too. Not gone far. A bit unhappy with my diet, a bit jaded. It feels like for the last 3 years, I have written down every single morsel that has gone into my mouth. Firstly in an effort to loose weight, and it worked and then this time last year to keep a track of gluten and any reactions. I am doing well on the gluten-free diet, but...
  8. We down here drive on the left hand side, same with Australia, must be an unwritten commonwealth requirement. I don't have any trouble with driving. No problem with staying on the left hand side. I think my sense of direction is fine and I can read a map. The only problem is really directions, and like you I say go your way or my way. My husband is...
  9. Autumn, sorry you're not feeling well. Take it easy. Yesterday for eats. B: Yoghurt L: Stir fry curried vegetables with white rice (smells Indian says one of the staff, so it was good), apple. banana, 4 rice crackers with double brie and pickle. Sounds a lot now, and I think it was a lot! I like it when others come into the staff room and say...
  10. A budgie is a budgie. A native Australian bird. Could be a parakeet, I think at the pet shop when I noticed them offering me a parakeet food mix, I said, but it is a budgie, and she said they call them parakeets elsewhere. I am not so sure.
  11. Haven't been here for a day or two. Been so busy with work again. After 7 weeks off it is hard going. Have been walking at 5.30 in the morning with a friend. We gossip more than anything, had to watch my words this morning as her teenage son was with us this morning. I am practising for a 5km beach to basin walk next month. It is not much longer than...
  12. The thought of being slightly dyselexic and ambedextrous and probably the fact I can't spell might have a bearing with the left and right thing. I do muddle up numbers, but not letters. I'm usually pretty good at spelling the queen's english. I do automatically know my right hand from my left, but when I am giving directions, I do not associate it with...
  13. Nancy, you have mentioned that before. What I want to know is why you think there should be different types? I am just curious. And I would like there to be accurate information describing the difference between coeliac, gluten intolerance (aren't they the same?) and gluten sensitive. Even I am confused about those differences. Cathy
  14. The fact that they claim bourbons do not have gluten in them is really annoying me, because I cannot drink Jack Daniel without getting a reaction! Cathy
  15. That is so much snow! What about global warming? Must be a myth. Cathy
  16. Larry mac, that is so much me. Two slices per bag. I tried one slice a bag, but no, not enough. With the muffins, I free flow freeze them, and then put them in the bags, they don't stick together that way. I use the large freezer bags too, to put all the little bags in. I've got one for gluten free meats, and another for cakes and muffins and bread...

    ARCHIVED Dishes

Sinenox, We don't have a dishwasher at home and all dishes are done by hand. We have a dishwasher at work, and that is where I strike problems. One day, my coffee cup came back with a noodle on it after being through the dishwasher. I don't know if dishwashers are more sanitary, but there is always a chance things will be washed with gluten on them...
  18. Welcome Moondanse. I think baked goods would last a few days or even a week. The bread is different, and would probably be at it's best for a day or two. Once the bread is cool enough, I slice and freeze it, just taking out what I need when I need. I do the same with the cookies and muffins etc, as I am the only one who is eating gluten free, and they...
  19. Karen, I could say you described me to a tee! Cathy

    ARCHIVED The Only One

Jo. Coeliac does run in families. I am one of 8 children, my father one of 11 and my mum one of 3 children and all of those cousins etc of mine, and my four sons, and nobody but me has coeliac. It is probably no-one else except for about 4 people in my immediate family that have been tested and they all came back negative. But it is the others who have...
  21. Not too bad a day. Quite hot and tiring. Friday is usually my bad day, and I pig out a bit, but I know I will back on the wagon tomorrow. I get to Fridays and I am tired and cranky and need a bit of spoiling. B: yoghurt and fruit. S: fruit and corn crackers. L: salad with tuna. Banana, peach, plums S: More crackers with peanut butter and cheese....
  22. I'm so tired, second day back at work. Maybe I am not eating enough and or/still stressing about hubby. It is doing my head in! He gets crook and I fall to pieces. He went back to the dr for results, and he came back with antibiotics for and ulcer. Lets hope that is that sorted out. I'm not being very sympathetic, and I should be, but some men think they...
  23. Thanks for that, but for me it is not the caffeine, I can drink a cup just before bed and sleep. Why couldn't we be all the same and react the same way with everything, but then that would make for boring reading. Cathy
  24. Dori, sorry you have been feeling so bad. Are you eating enough? It sounds like you might not be getting enough iron. Can you not manage your cholestrol if you eat meat? Surely a tiny bit won't be too bad, if all fat is cut off. I don't know how I live a normal life and work and bring up a family as well. But I do. Sometimes it is so hard, and...
  25. I have dark circles, and I still have them! I have only been low in iron when I have been pregnant, but that is now nearly twenty years ago. All my other iron readings have been good except for one about a year ago. So I don't think it is the low iron being my problem for the dark circles. I wish they would go, but I have given up on expecting that. Cathy
