No one in our family is Celiac that I know of. I am allergic and having my family tested by enterolab for wheat/milk/soy/egg/yeast. I am curious as to whether anyone here has had a child with Henoch-Schonlein Purpura. They don't know much about it (medical profession). My daughter just got over it and still needs to see a kidney specialist for a few...

The following is a list that was in Dr. Russell Blaylock's book Excitotoxins. He has written extensively on the dangers of excitotoxins and the link between them and neurodegenerative diseases. One of many links it seems. He is a now retired neurosurgeon. Hidden Sources of MSG As discussed previously, the glutamate manufacturers and the processed...

ARCHIVED So Does Igg Antibodies Matter Or Not..
AndreaB replied to HeatherG's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had the IgG and IgE allergy test. From my understanding the IgG traces immune reactions over time. If she has had a food panel done and the wheat (or others) shows up high or moderate then that food should be eliminated at least for a time. If it is in the low range I was told it would be up to me what I wanted to do. I was in the moderate range for... -
ARCHIVED Height/weight Loss

Has he had a recent food panel allergy test done recently? Was he borderline on some things that may have increased? Does he eat eggs/dairy/yeast/soy. Enterolab may not do you a lot of good check out there site www.enterolab.com to read more about it. Is your son in preschool/daycare where he might be around or eat some of his allergen foods? I'm not... -

I would recommend the enterolab tests also. I am having my family tested even though no one shows any symptoms because I tested allergic to wheat/soy/dairy. We haven't sent in our tests yet. Enterolab can at least rule in or out some of the main allergens. I can't have my infant son tested yet but he will be in the future. Mart, Let us know how... -
ARCHIVED Child Going Casein Free
AndreaB replied to mart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Mart, Hang in there! Rice dream makes a frozen dessert that is gluten free. Orange Vanilla Swirl. What state do you live in? They are available from Azure Standard. I have not seen them in the stores around here but it doesn't mean they aren't somewhere. I don't know which health food stores carry them. Soy can cause intestinal problems just... -
ARCHIVED I Have Alot Of Questions
AndreaB replied to youngmum3nz's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son developed eczema just after he was two months old. He is now six months old. I talked to a friend of mine who is a doctor and she recommeded another doctor to me in our area that does allergy testing. He wanted to test me since he was reacting to something I was eating. I tested allergic to soy & wheat/gluten which I had been eating a lot of... -

Wild Oats in our area has the nut milks in the cereal isle. The boxed cartons. Also Safeway carries some of them if you live where Safeway is. -
ARCHIVED Azure Standard
AndreaB replied to lonewolf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Liz, I haven't ordered from them since I found out I was allergic to a lot of items I used to purchase from them. I used to get all my grain from them and grind it myself. I also buy nuts as they are much less than stores. For instance cashew pieces raw for a 25 pound bag is around $100. I need to place an order for those soon. I know they also... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease Or Wheat Sensitivity?
AndreaB replied to dh204's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am allergic to wheat, wheat gluten, spelt and rye on the gluten spectrum. Not barley or oats. I had carob chips a few weeks ago which are barley malt sweetened and also have soy lecithin. My infant son had an eczema reaction to them. Don't know which of those ingredients tipped him off. He doesn't seem to have a problem with me having rice dream milk... -
ARCHIVED Vegan Diet And Wheat/gluten Intolerance Or Celiac
AndreaB posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had an allergy test done and got the results the beginning of April. Among other things I found I was alleric to some main vegan staples. Soy/Wheat/Some Beans. I am curious as to whether anyone was on a vegan/vegetarian diet before becoming sensitive to wheat and or soy. I was on a lacto-ovo diet for 4 years before becoming vegan for 3. My family... -

ARCHIVED Any "home-canners" Out There?
AndreaB replied to jenvan's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi all! I would love to learn to can. I bought a pressure canner, water canner and some jars. Then my hubby changed jobs and with the pay cut I never had all the extra money in the summer to buy boxes of fruit/veggies. Now I have a 6 mo old and canning all day isn't on the horizon. Any tips about starting would be appreciated. My old neighbor cans... -
ARCHIVED Vaccines?
AndreaB replied to odcdinah's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Loraleena, I totally agree with you. I just had my two oldest vaccinated for hep a last year and my first born son also had the varicella. My heart is breaking that I hadn't learned this earlier. We have no obvious problems but some things manifest over time. Vaccines are one of many that affect behavior. My newborn had his 2 month vaccinations before... -
ARCHIVED Vaccines?

Fiddle Faddle, It's called the almighty dollar. It seems to be affecting the minds of more and more people in positions. The pharma companies don't want to lose all the big money. Bush has also signed into law a bill called the New Freedom Act (or somthing like that). It is designed to mandate psychological testing on children to see if the show any... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab
AndreaB replied to Guhlia's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The person who answers the phone and emails (Phyllis) is very nice. My youngest is 6 months old and he is too little. If they are eating solids which a 26 month old would be doing then they would have enough stool to be tested. My older son is 3 1/2 and not potty trained yet. They told me I could collect from the diaper. They need 1/2 cup. If that... -
ARCHIVED Testing And Diet Questions
AndreaB posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I went in for allergy testing IgG and IgE because of my son's eczema. I dropped soy and wheat products because of the results and my son's eczema has almost completely disappeared. He seems to be pretty sensitive to both. Does anyone know if gene testing is adequate for a celiac diagnosis. We are going to use enterolab for the family as we don't have... -
ARCHIVED Tinkyada Pasta
AndreaB replied to skipper30's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have a vegan recipe I use. It uses cashews and water to make a cashew milk. Plus other ingredients including yeast flakes. I've heard those are a no-no but haven't had any definitive answer. Does anyone know why yeast flakes would be bad? If they are o.k. then I have two "cheese" recipes I combine to make macaroni and cheese. If you are going... -
ARCHIVED Tinkyada Pasta
AndreaB replied to skipper30's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My family loves Tinkyada also. We have just recently switched from wheat pasta. I am dairy allergic as well so unfortunately can't have the alfredo. The vegan alfredo that was really good has soy products in it which I'm also allergic too. Anyone interested in a vegan alfredo sauce let me know and I'll post it. Has a lot of soy in it. Actually, I'm... -
It is hard to give up chocolate. I gave it up for barley sweetened carob chips. Got tested for allergies because of my son's eczema. Am allergic to soy/wheat/dairy mainly. Now I can't have carob chips or chocolate chips because of soy lecithin. I can still have carob powder which is good mixed with peanut butter and vanilla rice dream frozen dessert...

What is the SCD diet? I'm not familiar with all the abbreviations and am newly gluten free myself.

ARCHIVED Vaccines?
AndreaB replied to odcdinah's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Fiddle Faddle, I had my three year old vaccinated against chickenpox. Since all the reading I've done since I wish I hadn't. He hasn't had any reactions. He'll be four in September. My oldest had chickenpox when she was 11 months. There is a lot of info out there about vaccines, more than a lot of doctors would like us to look at. I believe most... -
ARCHIVED First Cause Of Autoimmunity?
AndreaB replied to SurreyGirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I too have recently decided against vaccines lately. I go Dr. Blaylocks book too late to not do the 2 mo vacs for my son. He broke out with eczema 1-2 weeks later. I was tested for allergies and have since gone on a soy/gluten free diet. Pnuemococcal has soy protein in it. He will more than likely not be getting any more vaccinations. If any, it would... -
ARCHIVED Vaccines?
AndreaB replied to odcdinah's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Some more websites to look for. www.nvic.org, www.thinktwice.org, www.mercola.com (do a search for vaccines). Also Dr. Blaylock, (do a google search for Dr Russell Blaylock vaccines) the neurosurgeon who wrote about excitotoxins says to definately avoid the live vaccines and if you get the others space them out six months apart. Dr. Blaylock has also... -
ARCHIVED Almost Like An Epidemic.
AndreaB replied to chrissy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
TCA, I am going to have my whole family (except my infant son) tested by enterolab. We don't have any symptoms to speak of, I'm allergic. I just want to know and no matter what we do it's not covered by insurance. My husband wants to go gluten free no matter what. After everything we've read that soy and gluten can do to the intestine and the fact...
