  1. We were there in January. We only ate lunch at one of the local places, but it was fine, and I didn't get sick. It was a little place at the Havensight Mall called Delly...something...can't remember the name right now. There wasn't that many places to eat there, so it's easy to find. Also, if you have to take a can anywhere, the rates are set by WHERE...
  2. We booked a last minute deal to Ocho Rios, and are leaving this Sunday. Has anyone been there since dx and if so, are you able to provide any info? Diet wise is Jerk seasoning supposed to be safe? Are there any MUST do excursions etc? Thanks in advance.
  3. On St Thomas, there is a place called "Delly...something" at the Havensight mall. They have great food at great prices. I had the ahi tuna ceaser salad. They use an oil and vinegar style dressing, and were more than happy to leave off the crutons. As for the others, I can't say. We jsut got back from a cruise to that area. I found the food on the...
  4. Well, here's the final report on the cruise! There were only 2 minor glitches that did not result in a glutening incedent. The first night, they had prepared some gluten-free pasta for me for dinner. Brekafast was buffet style, but they had some gluten-free bread on board, and were concious of me needs and used fresh pans etc for all my omlettes...
  5. I just got back from a cruise, and it was fine for me to be gluten-free. The only problem arose before we sailed, and I found out we were supposed to send in some form to "purchase" a number of gluten-free items at no cost. Turns out though that there was at least one other person on the ship that was also gluten-free and there was bread for breakfast...
  6. My DW jsut found a recipe for a cheesecake, but it uses those Mr. Christie Maple Leaf cookies as a crust. Does anyone out there know of a good replacement? Even just to munch on? Thanks
  7. I am SO glad to find other people with this problem. Pre dx, I was 6'3" and almost 200 lbs, healthy etc. By the time the doc figured out my "problem" I was down to 155 lbs and fading fast. I was afraid I would disappear. Since then, I am one of about 4 people that he local dietician has told to actually ADD fat to their diet. It's all supposed to be...
  8. Sounds like bitter irony to me as well. But perhaps, to those who are only allergic to wheat, and can tolerate all the otehr silly grains we are unable to eat as well, it may be good. But I can see how at first glance that recipe could be a silly idea.
  9. There is a gluten free, almost exact replica of Cheerios called Perky-O's. I'm the gluten-free one in our house, and I love them. The closest I've found to date.
  10. Always best to go right to the source...a good russian made vodka, but you'll pay for it. We drink Smirnov or Polar Ice, and we go through about one 40 every month or so....depending on company dropping in, or the odd night ya need 4 or 5 ceaser's Never had a problem with either of those two brands.
  11. There is hope There are some friends of ours, who despite repeated losses, have carried to term, and now have a VERY vibrant baby girl. So yes, it IS possible. I know that "All things work together for good.." Our thoughts go out to you and your husband on this holiday season. Prayers,
  12. I have been eating them for a while, and LOVE them. Have not had a reaction at all. Even the rest of the family loves them. They have a few good flavours...the original, seseme and the sweet and salty are my favourites though.
  13. I'd like to add to be careful with the no boil however. The noodles will tkae longer to cook, as does all the gluten-free pasta. My mother made one last time I went to visit, so I will ask her how the leftovers re-heated and post as soon as I can.
  14. This is a little late, but happy birthday Hope you are well.
  15. I started a similar thread here about a month ago. I'm going in January, and am looking forward to it. The general idea is that mode of the major cruise lines are fine. Did you tell them when you booked your trip? We did for mine and were told it would not be a problem. Call them and ask. When are you going?

    ARCHIVED Green Poo

Just to add a third option here, my daughter had green poo for a while, and it turns out that sometimes, purple drink crystals can make your poop turn green. I'd love to be able to quote my source right now, but can not remember...if I can find it, i'll make another post with the link. Just though that might be something else to consider.
  17. Happy brithday to you. Have a wonderful, special day!
  18. I let them know what I couldn't eat, and they were more than happy to help me. Clean pan, and glass noodles or rice instead of the other noodle choices.
  19. "The Wok Box" on Albert is good, but more fast foodish than sit down. The menu is all from souther asia, Indian, Chinese, Thai etc. As far as Teppanyaki, save your money anyway. The Soy sauce is not gluten-free. My wife and I went with some freinds for supper, came out over 100 dollars poorer, and still hungry.
  20. My wife looked it up on mysask.com, they have a yellow pages search thing.
  21. 2403 22nd St West Saskatoon, SK 683-6310 Hope that helps!
  22. Good evening, In addition to our cruise, we have a few days in to kill. We will be spending time in Ft. Lauderdale before our cruise, and Orlando after. Besides Disney, can anyone offer up suggestions for keeping me gluten-free on our trip? Thanks in advance, R
  23. We're going on Holland America, and our travel agent already called and informed them of my gluten free request. They told her it would certainly not be a problem, so I am excited. We're not leaving until January, so I will keep checking this thread from time to time for more information/reviews etc. Thank to all of you who have replied so far. I will...
  24. My wife and I have just booked a cruise for this January, and are very excited. I'm just curious though. Has anyone here been on a cruise? They tell me gluten-free is not a problem, but I'm understandibly cautious.
  25. OMG...Happy belated Birthday. Sorry I missed it. Hope it was awesome!
