  1. As others have said, it simply means you're showing an autoimmune response and you have celiac. The "lympho" language does not mean you have cancer, if that's what you're thinking. richard
  2. Mine was 177 with anything above 19 positive. It was normal 14 months later but probably was actually down before that. richard
  3. Use natural, all wood charcoal. Briquettes have all types of crap in them. richard
  4. Two things I can think of. First, I have heard but haven't confirmed independently, that the tests can't detect barley "gluten," just wheat. The other is that many of these malt drinks, including beer, probably have a very, very low level of gluten. It's probably there, but might be so low as to be unmeasureable. richard
  5. I really don't think that your basic peel-off type sticker is ever a problem. The old type sticker that you lick, like a stamp, possibly could be. I wouldn't worry. richard
  6. "Lovegrov, I am SO sorry to hear about your daughter! What happened, if you don't mind my asking?" Grace died of cardiac arrest Jan. 12. You can read more at the following link. There also a picture. Open Original Shared Link Since then tests have shown possible long QT syndrome in our son. This is an electrical problem that can be hereditary and...
  7. All distilled alcohols are gluten-free as long as there's no gluten added after the distilling. This is true even if wheat, rye or barley is used. richard
  8. I think you would need more details as to why some people think Zoloft is so terrible. Anti-depressants do affect people in different ways, and I've heard of some people who became virtual zombies taking Zoloft. On the other hand, my mother and a couple of friends consider it a lifesaver. Zoloft helped make me functional again when I went into depression...
  9. Doing just an Iga is insufficient. A certain percetage of people are Iga deficient and will NEVER test positive because of that. The full panel is Iga, total Iga (this shows if you are Iga defincient or not), Igg and Tta. The rash, as long as it's active, can also be biopsed for DH. richard
  10. "I see I am the only "old fashion" one here!" Your way is the only way I'll eat it. richard
  11. I couldn't remember the topic where I was asked for a dry rub recipe, so I thought I'd put it with the recipes. Imagine that. Simply mix all ingredients and store leftovers in an airtight container. You can add or subtract ingredients as you wish. I put this on the night before and then wrap the meat in plastic, but if you're smoking it for a long time...
  12. No problem that I know of. The adhesive on tape is not a wheat glue. richard
  13. While you DO need to check it, MFS is almost always gluten-free. It's very, very rarely made from wheat. richard
  14. I can't tell you if your daughter has celiac but I can tell you that nobody has all the symptoms, so her FTT really means nothing. What do you have to lose by trying the diet to see if it makes a difference? richard
  15. I've been gluten-free for clsoing in on four years and cannot remember ever finding a product with hidden gluten in the caramel coloring. If anybody knows of specific products please tell us. richard
  16. I'll try to remember to look up and post my favorite rub. You can find all kinds online with a search. The one already posted here is a good basic one, although I always include paprika in mine. Other good additions include cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper (not too much, and white pepper, which, believe it or not, hits different taste buds than...
  17. This is simply my opinion. I have no scientific evidence and I am not a doctor. Until just recently Coke has always said all its products were gluten-free. And except for the occasional root beer, soft drinks are just about universally gluten-free. I suspect that the flavors Coke won't absolutely say are gluten-free are flavors that have ingredients Coke...
  18. The two Pebbles cereals are definitely gluten-free, although some people avoid them because they're made in a facility with a whole pile of cereals with gluten. As far as I know they've always been gluten-free. Malt O Meal has or used to have some cereals that are or used to be gluten-free. The "malt" in the name doesn't mean all of them have it. richard
  19. You can rub it into your scalp all you want because you can't absorb gluten that way. The real danger is that most people get a little into their mouth and swallow it. richard
  20. "Since I cannot have condiments, that means the rest of the family goes without normal BBQ. " All of you should be able to have BBQ, just don't put any sauce on it until after it's cooked, which is how I do it anyway. Put together a dry rub (there are many recipes out there but it's generally made from pure spices and herbs) and coat your ribs, Boston...
  21. I think it's very easy to start thinking that every time you or somebody else feels bad it's due to gluten. I definitely wouldn't assume celiac just from this. However, if neither you nor your wife have been tested, you should be. All first-degree relatives should be tested. richard
  22. Not all men are like that. My wife took care of me when I was extremely ill from untreated celiac disease, but as soon as I had the energy (for a time I couldn't even carry on a hpone conversation) I was on the computer and calling companies. I now do the vast majority of the cooking and meal planning. richard
  23. Maltodextrin in foods in the U.S. is NOT always gluten-free, but if it's made from the manufacturer is by law required to clearly state that. Occasionally you will see "wheat maltodextrin" or "maltodextrin (wheat)". Some maltodextrin from Europe is made from wheat because of their fear of GMO corn. richard
  24. There's no gluten in milk or butter, hidden or otherwise. richard
  25. For the person who said they don't drink any more because they don't like rum or tequila __ virtually all distilled alcohols are gluten-free. Even if they're started with wheat or barley. Vodka, bourbon, gin and on and on are pretty much all gluten-free. richard
