  1. I just wanted to take a minute to validate the captain's comments. For some people, at certain stages in their healing, loved ones going completely gluten-free may just be the best support they could ask for. Also, many people here ask friends and family to take (what would seem to an outsider) crazy precautions. You could see the whole 'frozen food...
  2. *snort* I was telling the pirate and he offered me an Altoid...
  3. Annnnndddd...Why not? Should be a shared experience, no?
  4. Do you keep a food diary? It might help you pinpoint what's going on.
  5. Unless inappropriate pieces were hanging out, or your shirt said "born to bust balls" with a picture of round pinatas on it, we probably won't be seeing you in the next P O W mailing.

    ARCHIVED Quail

After many years of extraordinarily clean eating, I am pleased to say that I'm not sensitive at all. I don't think I eat anything grown on wheat straw, but I do use straw (of undetermined origin) in the chicken coop. It's wet enough here that the straw isn't dusty by the time I clean it, and I wash my hands after doing anything with the chickens....
  7. I also think that a lot of people, once they start really looking at what they're eating, start to choose foods with less chemicals, or better for you. I eat peanut butter.

I have the man do the slaughtering part. It's very quick, and probably a lot less stressful than anything the production farms do. Also, my chickens aren't the meat birds that grow to full size in 8 weeks and have to be processed soon after that timepoint because the ones that have managed to live that long start dieing from the stress of the rapid growth...
  9. Seriously?? Wonder how long it took them to fire THAT marketing genius.
  10. *snort* Always suspected that was topic.
  11. Just to be sure, you could have her change clothes when she gets home and throw them in the wash (probably want to do that anyway).
  12. Do you take it with food? I take three giant pills in the morning (spaced a bit apart) and don't have anything worse than fish burps (yuck).
  13. *snort* And as you get older..."I can't see....honey, can you read this? Turn another light on. Crap, wait, I'll get the readers..."
  14. tequila helps?
  15. just before my time. Never quite knew what y'all were talking about.
  16. Unless it has really good pictures.....
  17. Dorothy Parker - One more drink and I'd have been under the host. It serves me right for putting all my eggs in one b@st@rd. You can lead a horticulture, but you can't make her think. Brevity is the soul of lingerie. That woman speaks eighteen languages, and can't say No in any of them. And there was that wholesale libel on a Yale prom...

    ARCHIVED Quail

I've only named a few of my chickens. Trying to stay distant because they are destined for dinner after their egg laying years, but I have chicks, one of whom I'm sure is a boy, so I've named him "Stewie". The turkey is named "Drumstick", but he's not all that bright, so it's defaulted to "Dufus".
  19. So you need a company that doesn't sell any enriched products, or processes the enriched stuff in a different plant? Boy, that's a tough one.
  20. The self checkout doesn't care, but you might have to use an amex card. I have one that I only use for Costco.
  21. Is corn cc washable from rice? I would think that cc might be variable from batch to batch, and if you had a washing method you trusted, it might be worthwhile just to wash the rice every time.
  22. I know people that share a Costco membership (no Sam's here). They shop together (save on gas) and purchase separately (just hand the card to the next person). If you know anyone you like well enough to spend three or four hours with once a month or so, it might be worth it.
