  1. Awesome story! Open Original Shared Link Why yes, yes it DID happen in Washington! Imagine that!
  2. I don't think anyone is saying it's wrong, just wrong for some people. Diabetics should never skip meals, people who take meds that require food should never skip meals, people on thyroid meds shouldn't skip meals... I'm confused though, are you saying that eating gluten light works for you, as long as you fast after eating gluten? Or do you always feel...
  3. Sorry you're back. Anti-inflammatories? Imodium? What are the issues you need to get through?
  4. I gotta say, just reading that makes me never want to have a colonoscopy. Granted, I've never had constipation, so I don't have that perspective, but geez....all those laxitives...zowie
  5. yeah. Or you could consider just trying the 'clear liquids diet' part for a day and see if that helps. Might be less harsh than the full plan.
  6. I agree with IH here. Your body is designed to empty itself out. Why on earth would you want to put yourself through the stress of a forced "clean out" if you don't have to?
  7. Silly girl. Food has nothing to do with health.
  8. I'm just thinking that other males have reported discovering low testosterone after going gluten-free. Dunno if there are any non-medical ways to overcome it. This appears to have been written for three-year-olds, but it has some basic info: Open Original Shared Link
  9. Maybe his testosterone suddenly dropped, either from age or diet. You could have him tested, but I don't know if they would replace it at his age, if that were the problem.
  10. Pumpkin fudge. wait....that was dinner too... maybe that's why I have this sugar hangover headache.
  11. Maybe he's not eating enough now that he's eating differently? Maybe he was kinda puffy while eating gluten and it just kind of masked the skinniness.
  12. I've never worried about bathroom soap. Protein (like gluten) would go bad fairly quickly, and I don't think public bathrooms are interested in buying anything that could possibly go bad. If you really prefer your own soap, you could get a little travel bottle that closes tightly and put your favorite soap in it. When I travel I carry all my bottles in...
  13. Gonna be like getting whapped upside the head with a board for him.
  14. Big ol' plate of scrambled egg fry up. Potatoes, onion, chili peppers, zucchini, tomato, eggs, cheese, topped with avocado and yogurt.

  16. Peter, maybe while we're waiting for the OP to return, you could give a briefing on what the different diagnoses mean for someone who is also gluten-free. It seems like it might be handy to have a description of different eating options, and if there is are any big red food flags for type 1 vs type 2.
  17. *snort* Try peeling the nightshades before you give them up entirely. Most of the toxins are in the skin.
  18. You may never get a positive result, some people don't. Do you really want to keep eating gluten until you've done so much damage to your body that a doc will diagnose you without a positive test? I would suggest you cut out gluten for the whole family - it will make it easier for your daughter anyway - and see how you (all of you) feel in a few months...
  19. I'm surprised that mor NZ dishes don't have the word 'rabbit' in the title.
  20. hm. I use Ibuprofen all the time. I believe it can cause stomach issues, not intestinal, but I'm not sure about that.
  21. Very sweet!
  22. ok, but I haven't figured out how to put in pictures yet, so don't dis me on the lack of visuals....
  23. OK. I'm doing a blog. I figure it'll keep my writing skills up (or cause them to deteriorate if I try to keep everything to the eighth grade level), and give me something to do other than popping another Harry Potter movie in, and plopping on the couch with a plate of nachos. I'll try a couple posts out, then put it on facebook. If anyone's willing...
  24. There are so many different responses to gluten, it's hard to say 'yes' or 'no'. The biggest clue is that you had a reaction after eating gluten...
  25. They call me Mellow Yellow - Donovan
