  1. It should be fine.
  2. What a great way to test for intolerances. Line up a whole variety of candies and eat a different kind each day to check for reactions. Sounds like a lot more fun than those stupid elimination things.
  3. Everyone is different. You might need an official diagnosis just for reinforcement. Start pursuing it, you have nothing to lose.
  4. Just a light note to this. When I went gluten-free, I cc'd myself a couple times with pans, but never anything else. I was thinking I was just lucky but reading the note on the silverware reminded me.... One night, shortly before I went gluten-free, I was up in the middle of the night and went into the kitchen to get a drink of water. When I turned...
  5. Maybe you're reacting to something else in the formulation. You could try switching brands.
  6. I'm pretty sure that if you were a man you'd have this statement framed and put on your "achievements" wall in the living room.
  7. After I went gluten-free I did start having weird reactions to different things. One of the weirdest is peaches. I've always had a burning reaction on my lips if I eat the skin, but I never worried about them in other foods (like yougurt, pies etc). Shortly after going gluten-free I tried a bite of mango salsa with peaches and had an immediate reaction...
  8. Maybe Canada uses a different scale.
  9. Hemoglobin (Hb). The amount of hemoglobin in a volume of blood. Hemoglobin is the protein molecule within red blood cells that carries oxygen and gives blood its red color. Normal range for hemoglobin is different between the sexes and is approximately 13 - 18 grams per deciliter for men and 12 - 16 for women (international units 8.1 - 11.2 millimoles/liter...
  10. I would try potato or corn. What did you use?
  11. I agree, but in a positive, questioning way. In his book (which is really good btw) he talks a lot about constipation, and what to do about it, but not much about what to do if you go the other way. And I was really looking for that info. I had thought about writing and asking "but what if you have to go 4 times in the morning within 1/2 an hour? Is that...
  12. I get tired of explaining that I need to read the ingredients before eating something so last time someone offered me a piece of candy I told him I needed to read the instructions first....
  13. Cocoa Pebbles make a fabulous crispy treat!
  14. I never did mine when I was the most anemic. But anemia does go along with Celiac. Also, if you develop anemia slowly your body learns to compensate for lower iron which is probably why you can have a crit of 17 and not pass out everytime you stand up.
  15. Couldn't think of a better place to post this Open Original Shared Link It opened slowly on my computer
  16. I used to drink the heavier beers so now I have none. I do know that a lot of the cheaper beers are supplemented with rice to make them lighter. So you may just not be sensitive enough to get a reaction from bud light.
  17. I eat this kind of stuff all the time. Start with a small amount from the bag. If you have no issues, finish the bag (but still maybe in small amounts until you have eaten enough bags to trust the company). If you ever have an issue, throw out the bag and don't buy from that company again.
  18. This is interesting. There are some things I cheat on and some I don't. The ones with the most sever penalties (for me) I never cheat on. As for the other things, sometimes I think the penalties aren't sever enough to add that particular food to my "don't touch list". I'm willing to tolerate a bit of discomfort now and then to pretend I'm normal....
  19. Be careful what you ask for or someone will bean you with a gluten-free bagel... Oh heck, I'm gonna bean you with a gluten-free bagel just for reminding me about chinese food when I'm stuck at work and getting hungry.
  20. Nope, all girl. I just grew up with 5 brothers so I don't communicate like a girl. (I have heard this before)
  21. Lurking Count me too
  22. Kinda OT I just finished breezing through this whole thread including the obnoxious stuff in the beginning and I just wanted to point out that you guys kick butt!
  23. Not exactly a cake, but fabulous. CHOCOLATE WALNUT TORTE Ingredients ------------ • 3/4 c. walnuts • 4 1/2 oz. chopped bittersweet chocolate (fine quality) • 1 tsp. vanilla • 3/4 c. granulated sugar • 4 lg. eggs, separated • Confectioners' sugar for dusting Line buttered round cake pan (about 9x12 inch) with wax paper, also buttered. Dust light...
  24. Think of it as your chance to get out of the rut we all get into. You'll try new foods you never thought to look for (Almond crackers! Yum!) You'll challenge your creativity (Hmm, how can I replicate that fried chicken) You'll have more chances to talk about poop then you ever thought was possible! (check out some of the threads on this site)
