  1. CDFAMILY had a good point. Get your vitamine DAKE levels, iron levels, calcium levels etc. checked. If these are low, it's strongly suggestive of malabsorption issues which could be related to Celiac. My question to you about the biopsy is: If it's negative are you going to keep eating gluten? If the answer is no, then don't do the biopsy, you're just...
  2. You could make your own: Ingredients: 1 can (14 oz size) sweetened condensed milk 1 cup of rye, scotch or dark rum 1 pint whipping cream (or half & half) 3 eggs 1 teaspoon coconut extract 1 tablespoon Nestle Quick (liquid or dry) Directions: Blend all ingredients. Refrigerate. (As I recall, this doesn't keep for very long) This recipe...
  3. I just read through these and I was thinking I would try making a cornbread for stuffing with the poultry seasonings mixed in. Maybe use chicken stock for the liquid. You could try this with white bread as well, then you'd be less concerned about adding a lot of liquid for flavoring. You could add a bit in the morning and let the bread soak it up for a...
  4. EEeewwww!!
  5. Hi Matilda, I tend to eat a lot of whole foods, so I rarely have to deal with this, but there is some additive in some sauces that turns everything in my body to water. If you were feeling okay until you started adding processed foods, maybe it's a chemical sensitivity. Go back to eating what you ate when you felt good.
  6. Hopefully, since he's gluten-free now
  7. Hi Spunky, I lurked for a while too. I finally felt kind of guilty and started posting....
  8. I know the Costco chickens are gluten free, but I've gotten a little bit CC'd a couple times, I think because at my Costco the bakery is right next to the deli and sometimes some flour makes it through the door way. I still eat the chickens, but I limit the amount of skin I eat, which is probably better for me anyway.
  9. I used to work at a company where the "important" people got an official 4 letter signature of the first 2 letters of their first, and last name. I wasn't important, but mine would have been "JeSt" which I think suits me. Gar is the first half of my NSO's first name. Even though I divorced him, I liked the name combination so I'm keeping it! 10. Hi Lynne, I'm just guessing at this, but I think they are super careful about who they give INH to because it is so hard on the liver. There are other drug regimens that are not hepatotoxic. If Ashley and her doctors decide that she really wants to be treated and they don't want to wait for her liver function tests to come down, there are other options...
  11. Hi Lynne, Latent TB in kids is usually treated because the longer you live with latent TB, the greater your chances are of it becoming active. Other than that, watch her liver
  12. Sharing experiences is different from stating that all illness is man made, that genetics is not a true science, that all illness stems from an infection, that Lyme disease is probably the infection that makes everyone think they have Celiac disease.
  13. I'm sorry Ursula. I'm sure the only answer is to throw them all out so you can live your life in peace, but I realize that's not very realistic. I don't think you'll ever change their minds, so my solution would be to just keep buying new things as you need them. Since they aren't concerned about your comfort, stop being concerned about theirs and...
  14. There are concerns that the consumption of unfluoridated bottled and tank water may put children at increased risk of developing caries. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between nonpublic water consumption (either from bottles or rainwater tanks) and socioeconomic status (SES) and both deciduous and permanent caries experience...
  15. Can we please not argue religion. There's enough of that in the world.
  16. Well, I'm a very intolerant, non-compassionate person and I find a lot of people on this board annoying. But most of them provide facts or research to back up their opinions. So even if I don't like them, I feel compelled to respect them for what they are trying to do. I've also noticed that people who continually push their opinion without anything...
  17. Can you cite references for these?
  18. The immunosuppresive effescts of steroids are well known. I don't think any reputable physician would prescribe them with out avery good reason and also a pre-defined endpoint. If you get an AIDS test from a doctor you are more likely to get a PCR test which looks at the presence or absence of viral nucleic acids. These are either positive, or negative...
  19. Don't know if your SO will buy into this, but when I was in the Peace Corps, one of the volunteers developed kidney stones. The local method of treatment? Lots of sex and beer!
  20. A small thought on lab test ranges. We do research using blood from normal volunteers whe have no symptoms of illness. For each person a CBC is sent to the lab to determine cell counts. Almost every person's WBC count is at or under the low end of "normal". For a while the research nurse was calling everyone to report this "anomoly" until it occured...
  21. I think just the way you just said it. "when you mention celiac, little Honey's face looks so unhappy. I don't think she's ready to be "different" just yet.
  22. Call the hospital or clinic where your grandmother was a client and ask them. They may need a death certificate and signed permission from the next of kin, but they should be able to tell you exactly what to bring.
  23. Just as most people here with Celiac disease see the symptoms in almost everyone they care about, you read people stories and see the symptoms you have the most knowledge of. "To a guy with a hammer, everything looks like a nail." It's easiest to assume that a person's problem is something you know a lot about, but physicians don't have that luxury...
  24. I just wanted to point out that they published the structure of DNA, based on data that was in part stolen from Rosalind Franklin.... I have a friend in her forties. Every female member of her mothers family has had bi-lateral breast cancer. Her mother is currently undergoing a second round of chemotherapy for ovarian cancer after surviving bi-lateral...
  25. Foreign gluten (french) is OK?
