  1. Are guinea pigs one of the few animals that can't synthesize vitamin C and therefor have to have specific guinea pig food?
  2. I would! Could you post it?
  3. Hi Kristen, I don't have any better info to offer, I just wanted to offer another shoulder to lean on as you get used to a new lifestyle.
  4. If you kiss your kids' cheeks a lot you might want to check whatever sort of lotion/cream/glittery lipstick they are using.

  6. My friend went gluten-free in May. A couple weeks ago her son asked if she had changed toothpaste because her teeth look so much whiter. Mine had been yellowish but I bleached them before changing diet so I can't tell. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this.
  7. Hi Stacie, You could together make a commitment to getting well. First find out if some of the issues are food related - do an elimination diet and carefully and together make notes of everything that happens. Where you go from there will depend on what you find, but I always feel better when I have a plan and I feel like I'm in control of a situation...
  8. Wow! I'm sorry it was so harsh. I hope it all goes away soon.
  9. If you feel better, don't eat it. You are your own best test.
  10. I don't know about gluten, but my brother who is very allergic to milk, avoids caramel like the plague.
  11. I think that when you go gluten-free, your immune system begins to work normally. For some people this may mean responding to foods that give them problems, but have hithertofor (always wanted to use that word) been ignored because gluten was a much bigger problem. For other people I think that your immune system needs time to adjust, and over-stressing...
  12. Hi Kate, I find that taking some ibuprofen (or aspirin) at night when I go to bed makes all my joints feel fluid the next day. Try taking one ibuprofen with lots of water (or even 1/2 of one) or 2 baby aspirin with lots of water. If you eat early, try taking them an hour after you eat so there is some food in your stomach to protect you.

  14. It's up to you. Do you need the biopsy to prove to yourself that you have Celiac? If not, I would say don't do it. All you will be doing is proving the blood tests right and making the doctor feel like she's done everything she's supposed to.
  15. Are you getting appropriate nutrition? Eating other grains? Taking vitamins? Have you considered other food sensitivities? Milk? Soy? Corn?
  16. You may be IgA deficient, which would make all of your IgA antibodies low

  19. I just came back from lunch at the Green Leaf. Great food. No soy sauce at all. Vegetarian options. But I think everything had peanuts sprinkled on it...
  20. You can stop Celiac damage by not eating gluten. If we knew what caused or limited the other diseases we could stop those too. Does MS spontaneously go into remission, or do we unknowingly change something that no longer activates it? If you moved to a small island that had only fish and local fruits to eat wouldn't your Celiac be in remission even though...
  21. OK, I've just spent 2 hours AT WORK looking at heinous knitting pictures and carrying on email discussion about starting a christmas knitting circle on the ferry making willy warmers for various situations. Black silk with beads for those special evenings... Something out of cotton for the beach... Maybe an S&M version with octagonal beads on the inside...
  22. LOReallyLoud, at work. I'm pretty sure every man needs a willy warmer, but out of mohair??? More like a willy itcher
  23. Thanks, I just sent the link out to all my knitting friends
  24. I frequently eat at the vietnamese restaurants in the ID without trouble. Try The Green Leaf or the Seven Stars Pepper. I also went to the Flying Fish with no trouble.
