  1. No, Just different beer, pizza and pasta
  2. My guess is they'd be thrilled that you trust them enough to ask this of them. You are making your visit easier for them because they don't have to worry about poisoning you. And if anyone in the house enjoys cooking they might have fun learning some of your recipes. Do ask them about it. Maybe plan some stuff to bring and some stuff to make there...
  3. ditto except only 5 mo gluten-free
  4. I have no digestive problems with gluten. I get headaches and joint pain mostly. I have a friend who's only symptom is (take-you-out-for-two-days) migraines.
  5. I saw an interesting hairstyle the other day on an older guy. A comb-over mohawk
  6. In high school I had several months with green hair and as an adult I spent 1 day with hair that looked like a ladybug (don't ask)
  7. Potato patties. I keep a bag of instant potato flakes and mix them with canned meat of some sort (keep the juice) and a little bit of almond milk if necessary to make a moist mash. I add enough rice flour to make a pattie and fry it in olive oil. You could also add shredded veggies or maybe even canned veggies. I also cook up instant mashed potatoes...
  8. I'd consider it if you came over to the peninsula....
  9. Did they tell you what the normal values are for their lab?
  10. I made these and had some issues with the amount of oil in them so I made a second batch with ~1/2 C PB, ~1/2 C B Sugar, 1 egg, 1 tsp soda, no choc chips. I added ~2 T flax seed meal, ~4 T soy flour, enough rice flour to make them firm. This worked for me and I can eat more than 1/2 a cookie! (Not that I need to)
  11. Yeah! WT*! They're on two completely different ends of the chromosome! APTX also has very little info. But says mainly early onset, recessive. There was one case that showed a person with symptoms and one defective APTX gene and multiple other deficiencies, but I'd think that would be fairly uncommon.
  12. OT, but someone asked the question. 3.2. Senataxin ALS4 ...Although a number of terms have been used to describe this condition, Juvenile ALS is probably the most accurate. The condition is characterised by early onset of a slowly progressive muscle weakness associated with both UMN signs (hyperreflexia and extensor planter responses) and LMN signs...
  13. I love injera bread. If you get this to work will you post the process?
  14. Sourdough fermentation is a traditional process that retains its importance in wheat baking because it improves bread quality by prolonging shelf life, increasing loaf volume, delaying staling, as well as by improving bread flavour and nutritional properties (Thiele et al., 2004). Fermentation of wheat and rye flours with selected sourdough lactic acid bacteria...
  15. Since the treatment is changing your diet, and you don't need anyone's permission to do that, you can just stop eating gluten. A friend of mine stopped eating gluten just based on my results, and has never even considered asking a dr's opinion.
  16. I find it drowns out the flavor of the 1/4 gallon or so of maple syrup....
  17. Someone posted somewhere that chilling them helps. I put a little extra flour (TB or so) to keep them fluffy (ok, fluffy is an overstatement).
  18. I haven't yet tried bread, but I usually add a tsp or two of powdered egg whites to baked goods, just for some extra protein structure. I mix it in with the flours.
  19. I make buckwheat pancakes almost every weekend. I don't like straight buckwheat, it tastes too "healthy" for me so I do about 1/3 buckwheat, 1/3 rice flour, 1/3 random mix of flax meal, soy and potato starch.
  20. Hi Chelsea, I miss you! I don't know anything about the drug, but I did think about how you could minimize contact. Have you thought about getting some scrubs, like they wear in hospitals? I'd get a set for each day ( I think you can get them at Target) and every day come home, peel off your clothes and hop into the shower. You can put your scrubs...
  21. I often eat stuff processed in a wheat facility or that may have been fried in a communal fryer. I just never eat very much and never twice in the same day. I do skip food that I know was fried in a communal fryer.

  23. Being stubborn, I actually tested the "gluten sticking in teflon" theory. Get rid of your pans. Even after multiple washings and cooking other things in them I was still getting glutened from my instant potatoes. (After that I just assumed everyone on this board was smarter than I am and pretty much did everything they suggested).
