  1. That's very cute. I used to have a cat that would do that when she wanted tuna.
  2. I just went to a talk that was about high altitude sicknesses. He talked in detail about the medically relevant ones but also mentioned HAFE High Altitude Flatus Explosions. (Explosive farts at high altitude), so you could put AAFE (Any Altitude...)
  3. You need to get the ranges that are specific for that lab to really know what these numbers mean.
  4. I don't buy any specialty premade items. I buy a variety of flours and make biscuits if I want something bready (10-15 minutes) and cookies or cake if I want something sweet (15-25 min). Otherwise I just shop in the standard food aisles.
  5. I actually do react to annatto and have avoided it since having a bad reaction
  6. I don't think there is any reason why gluten should come anywhaere near a flu vaccine.
  7. maybe we should run the list of "forbidden" words and see what gets changed
  8. People have different personal requirements for testing, some need something from a doctors office, some just need a friend to say "Hey, try this and see if you feel better". I'm in the latter group, so my advice is "Hey, stop eating gluten and see if you feel better!" Decide what you need and go from there.
  9. I think it is ok to not speak to them for a little while. Just tell everyone that this is a little overwhelming and you appreciate their support (Yeah, but say it anyway) but you need to learn to deal with this as a family before you can deal with it as an extended family. And you call that butcher shop if you want to. Or at least go there in person...
  10. I think it's a hard thing. I mean come on, you're allergic to FOOD!!! Give them some time to come to terms with it and hopefully it will get easier. In the mean time, come here for support. It's one small part of the world where you can be and say whatever you want or need to.
  11. Lame Advertisement gluten-free cf This is kind of fun
  12. Her head is way too small to mount on a wall. And those furry feathers really stick in your teeth.
  13. And their home is called a wormery? Why not a wormitory?
  14. Those were great! I can't believe I never thought of that for making my own pool. Now if I only had a pickup....
  15. I never looked for turkey bacon, but I found gluten-free turkey pepperoni. I don't remember the brand, but it was mainstrem. Might work in some recipes, but it could be too much for breakfast.
  16. I was at a wedding where a very creative person had made a wall quilt by taking photos of the two people throughout childhood, transferring them to cloth squares and sewing the squares into a quilt. OK, you might not be able to pull this off in three weeks, but you could save photos from the wedding and do something similar for their first anniversary...
  17. I don't know the specifics of gluten antibodies, but antibodies in general can cross react. So some similar protein might cause a small rise in your antigliadin antibodies, or your particular antibody spectrum might have something that causes the ELISA to give a slight false positive. So when I do an ELISA, I count everything that is less than my lowest...
  18. Other things can cause the anti-gliadin to be high, that's why they no longer recommend it as one of the tests. If they do the whole panel, I think that the numbers should be negative, or very very low - but keep in mind that some completely normal people can have antibodies that are a little bit high.
  19. I colored her up a bit, but yes
  20. I'll switch back soon. I was waiting to get yelled at for posing as Karen and Armetta's love child.

  23. Hi Pam, I don't know about premade stuff, but Central Market in Poulsbo has a good selection of gluten-free mixes and bulk flours. They are also really good about labeling salads in the deli. It's just off 305, on the left as you are coming from Silverdale
  24. Blatantly stolen I'm afraid..
  25. I usually go to the same places. After a while they get to know you and it's not an issue.
