  1. I also prefer the paper version of books, but I became extremely covetous when I was in Spain and saw a family wandering the cathedral with all their guide books in that one skinny piece of plastic. It's also quite nice for throwing in the backpack for the commute. Pages don't get squooshed, if you finish one book you have another right there, and more...
  2. First ride to the ferry went fine. Only glitch was parking. The bike barn has 12 ride-up spots, and the people before me had taken all the lower hooks. I tried and tried, but cold not lift that 50 pound bike one handed over my head while guiding the front wheel into the hook. Found some racks down stairs which only required hauling the 50 pound bike up...
  3. I once tried to figure out if I could create, through genetic manipulation, tomatoes that would produce THC....
  4. T'heck with drunken typing, we're gonna get "magic muffin" typing.
  5. Happy Thanksgiving Canadian Folk! I might be getting an electric bike. One of the guys on the 6:20 boat is a bicycle commuter so I asked if he had an opinion on electric bikes. He said 'My wife might make you a deal on hers", so they brought it over today for me to try for a while to see if I like it. I want to use it to commute to the...
  6. At this point all those things are just snake oil. The only 'cure' is to follow a strict gluten-free diet.
  7. I don't think that's an issue for most people.
  8. And far easier to stay motivated to achieve!
  9. Cold and drizzly here. I want to see how much I can trim my budget to save for school, and prepare to live without an income. I usually get all excited about things, and then drop them so striking while the iron's hot.
  10. Nice, I found a fun book for free. Have spent the day cooking (not studying ) and just stuffed my self with shrimp quinoa salad. In just a bit here I'll take the bean soup out of the crockpot and put in chili. Have roasted root veggies, stuffed taters, barbecued pork (crocked overnight and baked for bit wif BBQ sauce), a bowl of pork still in...
  11. I bought a Kindle! One of the new $80 ones. Now I just have to figure out what to do with it.
  12. I'm curious why you'd be willing to put something in your mouth with so many additives. Just go buy a chicken breast and bake it. You'll save money and you wouldn't be eating scary stuff.
  13. All that you're weighing is the change in the volume of food left in your digestive tract. If, after a week, you're still up two pounds, then it's truly part of your body.
  14. Did she bake bread before coming over and have flour dust on her sleeves?
  15. potatoes and sweet potatoes microwave pretty quickly, or you can put a bunch in the oven for about an hour (350, overcooking is ok) and leave them in frig. Just nuke for a minute or two when you want to eat them. While your taters are baking, cook up a pot of quinoa (about 20-30 min, ok to turn off heat after 20 minutes and leave on the stove to finish...
  16. Here ya go: Open Original Shared Link Make your opinion heard.
  17. It can happen to anyone. It's related to body chemistry, not celiac disease.
  18. Good luck finding that. Someone here in the lab mentioned an article that shows an association with HPV and throat and neck cancers, so it may become an insurable vaccine eventually.
  19. well, don't eat gluten then. No one here has a problem with that. Sky was just trying to tell you that if you should want the tests for celiac disease, you should do them before you go gluten-free.
  20. hmmm. My mom had multiple bypasses at the same time, so open chest filled with ice. I don't know about going through a vessel. Open Original Shared Link seems OK. Check out the percutaneous section at the bottom. You'll hear about bio vs mechanical. Get the info on the risk/benefits of each. Also try to find out why they would replace at 83....
  21. For us. Me mum has had one.
  22. I just wanted to use this little guy.
  23. Thanks for writing it all down. Somehow seeing it sticks with me more than just sort of doing what makes sense at the time without really thinking about what could be or should have been. Yeah, just tell them. Every time. Assume nothing. Got it now.
  24. me too.
  25. Good heavens no! I'd be flat on my back if that were the case!
