  1. Rachel, I have only heard very good things about Igenex and in fact just got off the phone with a clinic in Calgary that does their testing through them. All that I am suggesting is that there are some of us, hopefully not you that may have to live without diagnosis. I realize I was an idiot now for suggesting that Igenex might not provide accurate testing...
  2. I know. LOL
  3. Nicki, I'm glad your husband saw improvement with the steroids but if his symptoms or other symptoms which seem unrelated appear you may want to pursue the Lyme test with Igenex. I've read that steroids can drive Lyme deeper but it will reappear. Growing up in a family with so many children, there are seven of us, I ate fast, we all ate fast because if...
  4. Rachel, the book that was recommended to me was "Healing Lyme" by Steven Buhner. I don't know how much time you have but I hope that a child is part of your life if that is what you really want, the wonderful thing is that it is possible to have children in our lives without actually having them. The relationship is different but there is a lot to be...
  5. Evie, I'm sorry to hear that you have been having such a difficult time. I am so glad your husband was there and able to catch you. Rachel, how wonderful that you appreciate people of all ages cause I'm sure you must like children too, yes? I've noticed that if you take time with older people sometimes people will look at you like why are you bothering...
  6. I had a very bad reaction to Metamucil, which I won't bore you with. Have you evey tried ground flax seed in a tall glass of water. I took it for a long time and it helped, also people just sprinkle it on their cereal. I had to stop taking it when I was really sick, it was just too much fiber but it might work for you.
  7. That is exactly what I mean. Thank you for your kind words. I'm feeling much better, getting up and getting out did me good.
  8. That's wonderful, pity there wasn't some kind of weeding out process that would result in all doctors being smart but I guess not. Rachel, I've heard the tests can come back as quickly as 10 days from Igenex. And thank you all for your support, I phoned a new friend and we met for tea, actually she had hot chocolate with whip cream and I had...
  9. Thanks Donna and Andrea, I am happy for all the hugs I receive, now I'm in tears though to know that you do care.. LOL One sister was diagnosed with Celiac and one brother tested also but his blood work came back negative. We all have digestive issues and naturally my father and mother do and it goes back and back. A niece who is currently on the...
  10. Rachel, I am so glad that you seem to have found a competent Doctor who really wants to understand your problems. I am amazed at the suggestion of Lyme although living as I do in Lyme world these days I am more amazed that I wasn't thinking of Lyme with you. It is scary to think mercury poisoning is preferable. Lyme is also called the Great Pretender...
  11. I agree with Rachel . Bad, bad, bad MSG.
  12. I second that Nancy, and check out the symptom list for Lyme, you'll have a sense of whether it fits for you. And I'm glad to know your doctor is testing you. My doctor literally threw her hands up in the air when I saw her yesterday, she said and I quote, "I'll refer you to an infectious disease specialist and then I'm done, none of your tests show...
  13. Rachel, I read something today about the importance of having a colon capable of flushing the mercury. I'm sorry I don't remember more, I was distracted by my latest go around with doctors.
  14. I think this is smart Rachel. I hope this doctor can help you.
  15. Hi and welcome. I found that cutting out gluten was not enough to resolve my issues and that it also took cutting out dairy. It took a little while but I am now having regular bowel movements and my digestion has improved. I think I may have had similar experiences to yours, I thought of it as a spastic colon because it just seemed to seize up. I also...
  16. Rachel, congratulations on figuring this out. I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I read something about chlorella being used for mercury detox, is that something you could use?
  17. Lyme Disease can affect the digestive system. Thanks for posting the article. It is long and wordy but for anyone who is feeling lost and overwhelmed with the number of symptoms they have it is well worth the read. It is funny how we come to learn things, perhaps five years ago my sister was diagnosed with IBS and Celiac and I remember noting...
  18. This topic is timely, I am scheduled for an endoscopy and colonoscopy in a few weeks. Thanks for the information.
  19. Open Original Shared Link I had no idea that it could take two months to get them out of your system. Thanks, I learned something.
  20. That is good news.
  21. Miamia, I have found making a broth with meat strengthening, I add in lots of onions and garlic and simmer it for a long time (and you could add carrots and celery...) and then I strain it and drink the broth. I give my dog the meat which by that point has little flavour anyways and it makes her very happy. Rachel, excellent scientificness. I didn...
  22. Nightshades can cause some people pain. It is a wonderful time of year for garden fresh vegies, have you been eating tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, spicy food made with peppers?
  23. CarlaB has been looking at adrenal fatigue, she has a thread going about it I think, anyways sleeping problems can be related to that. I haven't slept more than 5 hours in years and subsequently I haven't felt really rested until recently. I increased my salt intake, with "Real Salt" for another reason and a surprising benefit is that I actually slept...
  24. In order to have this test my understanding is that you go through a doctor. I'm in Canada and will probably have to pay for them myself but depending on your doctor and insurance they may be covered but I don't know. You could check out Lyme Net, perhaps someone there could answer that.
  25. Is the pain on just one side of the body or is it right knee, left shoulder?
