  1. If you're not a fan of chunk/diced celery...have you tried celery seed...sold in the spice section. It gives a little of the flavor without the "celery" texture. Chicken Salad: chicken boiled egg Relish (sweet and dill) possibly diced scallion/green onion Mayo dot of mustard dash of celery seed salt/pepper Eat with Ener-G gluten-free...
  2. What's that up in the sky? It's a bird...it's a plane...no, it's Superwoman! (Oh, no...looks like she's in for a crash landing). SPLAT!!!!! Superwoman, I am not...I am the SPLAT on the ground. I am feeling incredibly sorry for myself right now (anybody willing to lend a foot to kick my butt with?). Actually, I'm mad, sad, and ticked...
  3. Thanks you all for the info. I've got some semi-stale corn flakes I can now use for something! (I hate to be wasteful).
  4. I made the five ingredient PB cookies today. Oh my gosh, Yummy! My hubby ate three, my neighbor (who doesn't even like PB) ate two, and...well...I ate the rest. Luckily, I'm out of PB now...can't make more tomorrow. I've got to stop this or my hips will be wearing PB cookies! -Julie
  5. Well???? (waiting in suspense) How is it? Sure sounds good!
  6. Yummy! Congrats to you and thanks for the recipe! I made a pizza last night with a crust modified from Betty Crocker's cookbook. Actually, it was very tasty. Even my hubby said so! Again, Congrats to you! Success... yummm -Julie
  7. Thanks for reminding me Jen. I keep wanting to try this recipe b/c I have a box of Quinoa flakes downstairs. I think I'll give it a try tonight!
  8. Mike, I'm ordering the flour on-line. Unfortunately, our only store with a health foods section didn't sell it. I tried your recipe this weekend though (despite the missing ingredient) and the flavor is FANTASTIC! It reminded me of the breadsticks at Pizza Hut...yummmy! The consistency was wrong though (which I expected because I didn't have...
  9. I've dealt with that too. I carefully explained to my neighbor about my diagnosis. She called over and invited us to dinner one night and stated, "I was so careful Julie, I kept the bread away from the rest of the food." I was so impressed...until I looked at dinner...she made lasagna. Oh well, at least she made the effort. I couldn't help but...
  10. Yay! Cookie success! Congrats to you. (crushed oreos...sounds good) Deb, I'm sure your daughter loved the treat! also...thanks Jen Who would have thought I would be so excited over PB cookies
  11. I have the same problem with my oven; I have finally started lowering the temp. by 25 degrees and shortening the cooking time by at least five minutes.
  12. I DID IT, I DID IT, I DID IT! (...bowing to the applaudes from the audience) I FINALLY made something that didn't burn, fall apart, explode, or generally taste like poop. Thanks so much for the recipe! (I was able to make it so quickly...my infant didn't even have time to cry for me to pick him up) I added chocolate chips and...
  13. Count me in! -Julie
  14. Wow! I have the ingredients and I'm making PB cookies today! My hubby will be so surprised when he comes home from work! Thanks everyone! -Julie
  15. Thanks Mike, I'm going to get the flour this weekend from the local health store. I want to try my new pizza recipe on Sunday; I'll post as soon as I make it!
  16. Thanks everyone! I had the box of risotto on my "gluten-free" shelf in my pantry. I only put things on that shelf that I know (or have found discussed on this forum) to be gluten-free. What had me concerned was that I saw "natural flavors" today... I've had the box for awhile. I've never even heard of risotto before (obviously forgot I bought it)...so...
  17. Got a quick question... I tried a rice dish (riscotto?)...anyway, it was made by Lund..something or other. It was the creamy garlic I think and I topped with parmassean cheese...with these vague details does anyone happen to know if it is gluten-free? My hubby took out the trash before I could get up here with the box for details. I don't even...
  18. Thanks Robbin! We don't have an Asian market, but I will double check my grocery store. They just put in an expanded health foods section, and I'm still learning where things are one the shelves. If I don't find it, I'll order from EnerG. -Julie
  19. Mike, I have everything that the recipe calls for EXCEPT glutinous rice flour, where would I find that? Is there a possible substitute...I have the regular white rice flour. I scrolled down to the picture in the cast iron pan. Boy, does that look yummy! I really wish I had a Whole Foods near me. Makes baking gluten-free difficult. Thanks again! ...
  20. I'm sorry...wish I could say that I relate. My auras involve distorted vision, sounds, and touch, but not taste or smell (must be a different part of the brain) take care. -Julie
  21. Nancy, I agree. I've tried several products by Kinnik and Ener-G that I LOVE, but then some of their products are really gross (IMO). So, we've got to keep an open mind...especially due to the limited number of companies that truly accommodate gluten-free individuals! Sparkles, Yummm...chewy brownies. I've got to keep searching...
  22. Thanks! Your answer was detailed and to-the-point (which I need) and I'll check out the Kosher section at Kroger.
  23. I thought Quinoa is like a rice...is it more like oatmeal? I have a box downstairs, but I haven't opened it. I had no clue that I could make cookies with it! If that's the case, I'll be opening that box ASAP. -Julie
  24. I also worry that there is something wrong with your x-gum. I've had mine awhile, and it is still basically odorless. It may be worth the $$ to invest in a new bag just to be cautious. Also, welcome to the forums Mrspxy!
  25. Another question from the clueless cook... Can I just use 3 tsp. x-gum instead of the guar gum? Also... What exactly is potato starch? I've never seen it at my grocery store, but I just may have overlooked it. Thanks for posting this recipe (I miss my bagels and cream cheese). I tried Kinninnick's bagels and thought that they were gross...
