  1. Thanks so much, guys! Really appreciate the quick replies. Boy, I don't know how particular to be here. I am pretty sensitive to corn and I'm not sure about garlic. Maybe I will have to divide out my chili and play it safe. I sure am tired of having to do that and usually try to have as many meals that we ALL can eat as I can. I never imagined that...
  2. Hubby just got back from the store with McCormick chili powder that I was planning to use for supper. I was surprised to find other ingredients in it. "Chili Pepper, Spices, Salt Silicon Dioxide (added to make free flowing) and garlic." Before I ruin my chili, does anyone know if this would be OK for gluten, dairy, corn and soy free diets??? My main...
  3. Sure wish there was more hope being given for neurological/brain-damaged celiacs. At least this article is positive. Most articles indicate that healing is slow and damage sometimes irreversable. No real improvement for me in nearly a year.
  4. Had red cheeks and nose for years. It's called rosacea. It's common to fair skinned Northern Europeans. Interesting how it fits in with celiac.
  5. Anybody know anything about Dr. Braly and why he would align himself with an organization with questionable integrity? Just curious.
  6. I did business with them in 2006 and thankfully got my results reasonably on time. But I agree that it took lots of unanswered phone calls and patience. They also boldly promised a year of phone nutritional counseling service which was quite worthless, in my opinion. It's possible that they actually DO produce reliable results, but just have horrible customer...
  7. Thanks for the recipe and book suggestion!
  8. I don't have time to experiment right now and most cookbook bread recipes always have at least one or two things I can't have. Does anyone have a simple, all-purpose bread recipe I can make every couple of days and depend on for now? I don't mind it having the texture of banana bread, as long as it is light, toasts well and isn't rubbery. I can't have...
  9. If you are a client, the nurse will answer questions if you email them. There is a word limit, so use appreviations and you can fit quite alot in. Obviously they will not diagnose since it would not be legal. She has always answered me very quickly as well. They've been great for communication. Other labs will barely speak to me, even when I am a recent...
  10. I bought a small one-quart crock pot and a self contained plug-in teapot which produces boiling water for traveling. Both were cheap and are fairly safe to use in a motel room. I also bring a large softsided cooler, gallon ziplocs and the motel ice is free. You have to plan ahead, but it works. Oh..I also sometimes bring my lightweight toaster and I...
  11. If a person does the complete enterolab test. If they show 1 celiac gene and 1 gluten intolerance gene, definite IgA antigliadin activity, a positive antitissue transglutaminase score and definite malabsorption, what OTHER DISEASES beside celiac disease could produce those same test results? Since skeptics don't think these tests can diagnose celiac, I...
  12. Didn't see it. Please tell us what inaccuracies they included.
  13. Whose intestine? The website explanation seemed to leave that out.
  14. I LOVE cheese. And I have to honestly say, that most of the cashew cheese recipes I've tried are DELICIOUS. It tastes enough like gooey melted cheese to satisfy me. I'll miss the convenience of buying it packaged, but I'm willing to make it myself to have that much-missed flavor.
  15. Newly diagnosed "old" person here. I've had your uncomfortable anxiety symptoms 24/7 for years. And it's not been fun. No doctor ever got it right, even some pretty smart ones. They just stared at me blankly and kept prescribing antidepressants, which I chose not to take. Hang in there. It's gonna be OK.
  16. Forgive me if this is a stupid question. I went on the Genestra site and read all about the HMF Forte Human Microflora, etc. It sounds impressive. But if it is made from human tissue, from where is that tissue obtained? Need to know. Thanks!
  17. I don't want to get off the track here, but I'm interested in the eye blinking and throat clearing. At least 2 of my family members did that all through childhood. It dwindled down to occasional in adulthood and seems controllable. Is that tourette's? Never knew what it was. Does it have anything to do with celiac especially?
  18. Would you mind posting the ingredients? Thanks!
  19. Why not contact enterolab and ask them about the casein in Culturelle. They have been really nice when I have asked them questions. A casein allergy is similar to gluten, but maybe it doesn't cause reactions at such small amounts. I honestly don't know. But I would choose not to use it at this point for myself. Sorry about the garbanzo beans! ...
  20. Nope. I used Natren. They make a couple of powdered ones which fit my multiple allergy needs. They come to you on dry ice when ordered online. Some bigger health food stores may carry them. Casein is a genetic allergy similar to gluten. I think it's too serious to take a chance on when you don't have to.
  21. It's a funny thing about the eat right for your bloodtype diet. While most notable dietary gurus and scientists do not think it has any merit for the same reasons many of you have stated, some people do seem to achieve better health while on it. I wonder if it isn't the complete elimination of grain and natural increase in protein consumption in those O...
  22. I'm trying to keep this in perspective as well. I don't want to end up with a gluten phobia. But honestly, it's really hard when there are gluten crumbs everywhere. I just did the same thing and cleaned up my kitchen after a big birthday party. I had frosting and cake crumbs and cheese and dip all over my hands before it was over. My hands were raw from...
  23. The third from the last sentence concerns me. Some of us seem to still react to whatever is left of the gluten protein even when it supposedly has been processed out. On another thread there was a discussion about the great company Namaste. Apparently they have not been stating on their label that their xanthan gum actually originally came from wheat or...
  24. I've had a lot of allergy tests and figured I knew everything else I was allergic to besides gluten. And I've faithfully avoided all of it. But you are right, I'm missing something. It just has to be. Thanks.
  25. It's been about 10 months for me. It's likely that I've had some accidental cross contamination along the way too. But I do try hard. I'm hoping I just need to be patient and wait.
