First of all, thank you for this site.  I forsee it being a great help in the future.  Let me first tell my story as consisely as possible.  I am a 52 year old male and have always had good health; overweight by as much as 50 lbs. at times, but I have rarely been sick and have alway had good numbers at my check ups (pb, cholesterol, ect).  About three years ago I had some experiences that caused me a great deal of stress and anxiety.  This was the gut wrenching, all consuming kind of anxiety that persisted for several months.  During this time, I began to experience some tingling and light twitching in my legs.  Stressful situation passed but the muscle fasciculations not only continued, but increased in intensity and has spread throughout my entire body.  I have also realized that I have lost my sense of smell.  I have been to a host of doctors over the last few years and have had enough blood drawn to fill a swimming pool.  I have had some slightly low and borderline test results that include B12, vit. D, calcium, and zinc to name a few.  I have supplemented as directed.

Hi tba

Well , there are some familiar symptoms there.

Are you thinking of getting celiac testing, or wondering about gluten issues?

Welcome to the board, ask lots of questions :)

argh, had several lines typed and PUFF.  any way....if your B12 is under 500, you probably need supplementation. good luck

welcome!

I think it would be a good idea to get tested based on what you've written here.  check out this link for common vit/min deficiencies linked with celiac:

Below is the list for a celiac blood panel.  Your PCP/GP should be able to order these tests for you.

Comprehensive Celiac Panel:

DGP iga/igg

ttg iga/igg

EMA

Total iga serum-this is a control test to make sure you make enough iga to validate the other testing

check out page 12 in this report for testing information:

hope this helps!

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
