Cider On Tap?

I'm going to a bar this weekend where there is cider on tap. Do you think this is safe? I know that cider is naturally gluten free. The only other thing that this bar serves is beer. Could there be CC for cider on tap? I know nothing about bars and normally order wine but there will sadly not be any there....

I have no idea about whether it's safe or not. But no wine?? A bar with no wine? Huh?!!

I have ordered it before. Beer doesn't come out of the same spout as the cider. Each keg has its own spout.

Do bars ever change which spouts are for whatever drinks? Again, I know nothing about bars.

Also are all ciders gluten free? I heard a rumor that some have barley malt?? :-/

I've been wondering this too. All I can think of is cleaning the lines (if they're shared?) and if they use the same cloth to wipe down all the taps? Must vary by bar I suppose.

It is true that some ciders may have malt added.  There is a local micro-brewery near me that also makes cider.  They told me they add malt to give it body.  I suspect most ciders are gluten-free, but if it were me, I would ask.  BTW I know that Strongbow is gluten-free.

Jeez, thanks for the heads up on malt in cider. Whyyyyy?!
I asked my brother, who works in a bar, and he said obviously it would vary by bar but changing the lines between beer/cider taps would be complicated and he doesn't see why it would happen.
No answer on the communal wipe down cloth but having seen the state of his bathroom I'm not hopeful (eww). I suppose with cider, unlike ale, the tap doesn't need to be kept below the surface of the drink? So it could just pour straight into the glass?

An update from my trip to the bar - my boyfriend said that sometimes they do not have cider, so we're assuming that they change the taps. I could have probably gotten a bottle of their cider if I knew it was safe, but the bar was packed when we got there. Not the best time to ask someone about ingredients. So I decided to just not drink that night. No big deal. I wasn't really in the mood anyway. I reasoned that I'll save the calories and have a cupcake this week :)

I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.

      I used to be able to get the Rivera yougut i havent been able to get it lately. I like getting it did say it did say gluten free. I just looking for a good yogurt that gluten free that i can add some fruit and nuts to any suggestion would be helpful  thanks
