Trouble With Culturelle Probiotic

CajunChic

I've always been on a probiotic and my body seems to get used to them after a while. I switch brands regularly. After being on philip's colon health for a while, I switched to culturelle. I've been having diarrhea with it, though it is marketed as helping with it. I don't usually get diarrhea unless I've eaten (unintentionally) a good bit of gluten, which I don't believe I have because I'm not getting all of my usual symptoms. Anyone had trouble with culturelle? Which brands are better? Acidophilus made me feel horrible and the pearls never worked for me. As always, I'm grateful for anyone's time and advice! You people are awesome : )

I never had trouble with culturelle, but maybe you just have an issue with that brand for some reason.

I only used that when I had D in the beginning because yes, lactobacillus GG is targeted for D.

Ever try Florajen 3?

I've never heard of it. I'll try anything that works!

I tried culturelle once, and it didn't seem to do anything whatsoever. That's not to say you won't have any reaction to it though. My sensitivities seem to only become heightened and expanded over time. It does get frustrating sometimes.

i use culturelle because it is soy free.  you have to use it for about 2 weeks before everything 'settles down' - when i first started taking it, my guts sounded like a war zone, lolz :D  at first, i thought i was reacting to it, then i read the box <wah waaaaaaaaah...   ^_^

Try  different  brands  of probiotics  & it is great  you know  to switch  them...  Lots  to choose  from  ... Dr Ohirra's ,  align,  floragen3, &  many many more.. Some  work  for    many  &  do  nothing  for  others....You  have  to  find  one  that  works for your  body....

Also  consider  digestive  enzymes  as  well....they  are  before meals  & help break  down  sugars, carbs  proteins.....

I started Culturelle 9 days ago to rotate the probiotics I'm taking and I'm not sure it's related but I've been having nausea and headaches and I'm not sure why. Maybe they don't agree with me. I'm going to stop them to see if it helps and go back on the multi strain I was taking, I didn't have any problem with those. If Culturelle is targeted for D, that could be a problem for me, I have C, and it's been worse lately.

This site is such a jewel, thanks again to those who keep it up and running. I don't know what I would have done without it during this period of trial and error. Having a place to learn and exchange experiences is priceless. We are all very lucky to have it :)

I, too, have C. The symptoms did lessen for me, though not gone completely. I'd say give it more time. I agree about this site, I'd be a total wreck going through this celiac journey alone!

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
