Has anyone tried making fresh pasta with a pasta machine? Is it worth it?

A new pasta machine, right? :). I can't imagine getting the one we had for gluten pasta really clean.

Of course! It gives me shudders just to think of using a used one.  :P

yep and it came out awesome :)  the last time i made it i made pasta sheets and used them for wonton wrappers.

I'm thinking about making some homemade ravioli today. It's really hard to get any kind of store bought ravioli since I'm dairy free as well as gluten-free, so it'll be nice to make some again.

Those of you who have had success, will you share recipes?  I'd certainly buy a pasta attachment if I knew I could make good pasta.  I guess should practice a bit first, huh?  I've never made pasta before!

flour, egg & water (you can find many, many recipes on the interwebs) i've gotten pretty good at it, so i just do it by eye.  beat the daylights out of it, though, i put the egg into the flour and beat it up.  probably for like, 10 minutes - then you put the water in a little at a time until it forms into a ball.  i have a kitchenaid mixer and i just use the regular paddle attachment, not the dough hook.

do it :)  especially for baking gluten-free it is the bee's knees :)

I have a kitchen maid that I had before my diagnosis.  I am trying to sell it now though since I am afraid of all the nooks and crannies that gluten can hide in. Or am I just being paranoid and I should be able to get it all clean?

Not to mention, they're ridiculously expensive. I bought some gluten-free ravioli... so happy to find it... and found it pretty tasteless. I'd love to try making it myself.

I need to start saving up for a KitchenAid. I'll bet that it would help with gluten free baking a lot! My hubby has been pretty good about getting me tons of kitchen stuff, he considers kitchen tools to be important.

Those babies are built to last!  They are by far the most durable and long lasting mixer ever made, IMHO.  I remember when I was little my Grandma had one that was so old. I never thought that thing would ever die, and it didn't.  She sold it as an antique and got some pretty good money for it.

My Grammy was using some ancient mixer she had her entire married life when I was little. When I was around 10 or 11 she got a Kitchen Aid for Christmas. (Her kids always get together and buy something awesome for their parents every year.) That was 25 years ago and she's never had a problem with it and I imagine that a young unmarried or newly married great-granddaughter will get it when Grammy passes and that it'll last them for as long as they treat it well.

 

I can't imagine life without mine! I sure would lose a lot of weight though if I didn't have it. I could not possibly do the baking I do without it. I still dream of the day I will get the pasta and sausage attachments. For now though, I'm happy with my shredder. Just another perk of it, all the attachments.

      No, Life Extension contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine Hydrochloride. Objective Nutrients Thiamax contains TTFD.     I take both of these and a B Complex.

      I take both Benfotiamine and TTFD.   You might want to start with the Benfotiamine for a few days and then add in the TTFD.   You can look for NeuroMag (Magnesium Threonate).  A magnesium glycinate is fine, too.  Doctor's Best is a good brand.  Don't take more than 300mg total per day of magnesium or it may have a laxative effect.   Be sure to take the B Complex.  The Benfotiamine and TTFD will need the other B vitamins.

      Life Extension Benfotiamine with Thiamine has 100MG of Ben and 25 of Thia..... Do you think this is the one I should take or Objective Nutrients Thiamax (TTFD) which has 100MG Thiamine. How much magnesium should I look for? I take the womens 50+ multivitamin since consumerlabs stated and tested that it has the right amount of vitamins and not too much for men and doesn't have BHT which has shown to cause liver cancer in animals. I was never big with multivitamins as well as doctors I just read when I was first going gluten free to take a multi but I think I will stop them and work on trying the super B Thia and Ben, Mag.

      Hi all I’ve been celiac for 4 years now, I’ve done pretty well to avoid it thus far. Last night I took the wrong pizza out of the freezer and ate the whole lot!! The non gluten and gluten pizza boxes are both very similar.   2 hours later I was throwing up violently on my hands and knees over the loo.  .horrendous stomach pains,  My hair was wet from sweat every part of my body was wet. What an awful experience, just had a bad headache today  fortunately.    Is their any products/pills anyone takes if they have realised they have just been glutened to make the symptoms a little less worse.  thanks
