Problems Eating Things On Celiac Diet

I have been gluten free for almost a year.  But 4 months ago I started having problems eating raw veggies, night shades and dairy.

Now after going on an elimination diet and starting to add things back in I cannot eat most nuts, soy, eggs or gluten free flours.  I am finding it hard to find things to eat.

I have trouble with most fruits.  We did another biopsy to see how the intestines were healing.  They seem to be doing much better.  But I am finding it hard to eat.  the pain is intense when I eat.  I get migraines when I eat potatoes.  The nutritionist is not sure how to proceed.  The diet she put me on caused muscle loss and fast weight loss.  I was not able to function my body was to tired and could not even walk up stairs.

my doc cannot find anything wrong with me.

I switched most things in my diet because of similar problems with foods I had been eating.  If you look at the store you can likely find new to you vegetables and meats.  Shocking things began to happen with my body after doing that!  Fennel (for example) is a vegetable that one can find in the produce section.  It rather looks like an onion but has a feathery plume on top.  Tradition says that it is good for digestion.  All I know is that it is a great pick me up for energy.  You might try that.  How about Jicama (I hash brown fry it).

Try increasing your fats (avocado, olive oil, coconut oil, meat and fish fats, etc.) for added calories.

I do use a lot of olive oil an I try to eat an avocado at least once a week.  lol I am not much of an avocado eater.  but right now I am eating things I don't like to get the calorie intake.

thank you.

I add a blob of refined (no taste) coconut oil to my coffee for extra calories.

I might get some and try it.

I second the coconut oil. After cutting out dairy, soy, legumes in addition to gluten I had a hard time getting in enough calories. I'm still struggling with this to a degree. I find it hard to get enough with just meat, fruit and veg. Adding in some good fats has helped as they are very calorie dense. I've added the coconut oil to coffee and soup...I saute veggies in it and put a blob on my sweet potato.

has anyone ever figured out why this is happening?  Not all celiac's have this issue.

I wish I knew. I was diagnosed in January...things went pretty well the first 3 months and then not so much. I would love to have more variety. I miss dairy way more than gluten.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
