Bare Escentuals

Hello all,

So after throwing out all my cosmetics (and mostly just not wearing makeup for a while), I went out and got some more Bare Escentuals stuff.

I've been trying to find out about their MD Formulations skincare line, and gotten several different responses from people that didn't have a clue what I was talking about. I just got a message from their customer service manager that 1.) didn't answer my question, and 2.) said that all the minerals are safe, but I should probably stay away from things like lipstick, the Mineral Veil, etc. Ummm... that's not what I've heard from everywhere else I've checked. So my question is: for those of you that use Bare Escentuals makeup--have any of you verifed DIRECTLY with the company that ALL cosmetics are gluten-free? I hope someone has, I love having lip gloss to wear again. And does anyone know about the skincare line? I'll let y'all know what the CSM says, also.

Their whole line of cosmetics is gluten free :D I love the brand.

Their skincare line is different and I know some of the things in their skincare line are not gluten free.

I have directly called and verified with them pretty recently before I put in an order for some products.

I know for sure the lip gloss is gluten-free cuz I use it...the salesperson told me all the bare escentuals make-up was gluten-free.

"All of our minerals are gluten-free as well as the lipsticks and lip glosses."

That's a quote from an email I have from them from a while back. Which doesn't answer the question about mascaras, or anything else. Will be returning the manager's call again on Monday (sure she loooves me by now) and will report back with as much info as possible.

The mascara by them that I use they told me was gluten free..I use alot of their products and they verified by phone and by email that they were all gluten free(not skincare line though)

That is unless they came out with something new that isn't or changed ingredients or policy in the last month or so...let us know if you find out anything different though. :)

I love Bare Escentuals and I've used it for years. I've never tried the skincare line though.

I while back I check delphiforums confirmed list and this is what they had listed.

Right now I'm using Proactiv, but I was thinking about switching to BE skincare. Thanks for the info. :)

One of my friends uses a different brand of mineral makeup. She purchased color pigments and is making tinted lip glosses. I think that sounds like so much fun!

Katie, I'm so glad to know about the mascara. I plan on ordering some with my next order. All the other mascaras I've used make my eyes hurt.

I'm using Bare Escentuals now too however, I not only e-mailed them but called as well and they were VERY EVASIVE as to if the line is gluten-free, as a matter of fact they told me they "thought" it was not and that I need to call about each individual product. So when I asked about a few I had handy they read me the ingredients and said, "there is no wheat in that, right?" I have to tell you I was not impressed.

I am using the stuff since everyone here keeps saying its gluten-free but honestly I don't believe it until the company gets there act together a bit more. My experience was similar to Estee Lauder products, non-commital.

I really wish these make up and health and beauty aids companies would just put together simple lists, like Neutrogena has, so they can make it easy for us. How hard can that be, they make the products, you'd think a list of what is gluten-free and what has nut oils in them would be very simple.

Frustrated, Susan

I just called the makers of a skincare product that I LOVE and thought I was going to have to throw out. The woman on the phone checked (with the lab) and said all of their products were gluten-free. You may want to verify that personally, but their products are great. And they have a safe glycolic acid product, which I think is basically the best thing ever for your skin.

Here's a link to their website:

what confusing info! from my research with bare escentuals company, i believe their makeup line to be gluten-free. the md skincare line i do not use, b/c i they had told me they could not say gluten-free or not on those products.

I got an e-mail response from the Co. that said that the minerals, lip glosses and mascara that I asked about were gluten free. I got a bottle if BE lotion as a gift, though, and it had wheat listed on the bottle.

Yes, the skincare line is NOT gluten free...only the cosmetic line

I’m having this type of MRI this afternoon,  What specifically do you want to know?  From what I’ve read, not all facilities use the same drink prep.

Hi I've been told I need a MRI on my bowels , I was booked for a colonoscopy, but because of my sever back issues and trapped nerve it can't be done , the nurse told me I will have to have a manitol drink a hour before the scan , I'm just a bit worried has I have issues with sweeteners like even a little,  I get a weird throat and ears and I've read it is a similar substance , not sure if anyone has had one of these scans or could give me some advise on the drink prep thanks in advance 😄

Hi all ! Can a celiac attack be so intense that it causes your entire body to work in reverse? Meaning really bad pain,  neuropathy and muscle,  jaw pain,  the stomach issues , Horrible anxiety and confusion??  I had a Tums and you would think I ate poison. My jaw and stomach did not like it . Not the norm for me. Things that are simple are just out of control. Anyone ever have this happen??  I'm trying to figure out what I ate or did to bring on a celiac like attack. I had an idea before but yesterday I didn't have any gluten unless it was in a medication ?! Any positive suggestions ??  Thank you

The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
