Hi all,

I am having stomach pain since 3 months which is undiagnosed until now,

first the stomach pain was in the lower left quadrant, now its in the upper stoamach left side and middle, the portion of stomach where it pains, is also sore to touch, i have gas and burping also.

Did anyone with gluten intolerance had the same symptoms?

I am planning to start a gluten free diet to see the results, how long should I eat glutenfree to know if i have gluten intolerance?

my endoscopy only showed gastritis.

none of the medicines have helped me till now.

appreciate your replies.

I am mother to a 6 month old and this stomach pain is really killing me.

Please help!

Hi,

When you had your endoscopy did they take biopsies? So they can check for h-pylori and celiac etc?

I am sorry that you are sick!

Please do not go gluten free until you have been tested for celiac disease!  These are the tests:

-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA and (tTG) IgG
-Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and (DGP) IgG
-EMA IgA
-total serum IgA and IgG (control test)
-AGA IGA and AGA IgG - older and less reliable tests largely replace by the DGP tests

-endoscopic biopsy - make sure at least 6 samples are taken

VERY IMPORTANT:  Keep eating gluten daily until ALL testing is complete or the tests can be inaccurate.

You had an endoscopy, but did they take biopsies of the small intestine?  Get copies of all lab reports always!

rule out celiac disease first.  You may have other issues like Crohn's, SIBO, etc.

Ugh!  The forum is acting up!  Please forgive my typing!

Why not go gluten free now?  It can take a celiac months to years to recover.  It would be difficult to stick to a gluten free diet to test that theory.  Not impossible.  Just really hard!  celiac disease is genetic.  Kids, parents and siblings need to be tested every two years even if they have no symptoms.  Yes, some folks with celiac disease have intestinal damage, but have no symptoms.

It it could be something else, but taking a simple blood test can rule out celiac disease.  Then your doctor can pursue other illnesses.

Please do more research on celiac disease!  Find a celiac savvy doctor if possible.  From what you posted, it sounds like your GI was not celiac savvy!

Thank you for the replies!

yes my GI took samples from my stomach to test for hpylori and entritis and said they were negative.

he did a normal blood test to rule out allergies and infections.

i dont think he tested specifically for celiac.

Here in India, things are bit laid back so its difficult to get a good diagnoses.

so i have been looking at internet forums for some information and hope of getting diagnosed correctly and get treatment to recover from this pain.

Thanks!

@Debdas, I just read that part of the treatment for gastritis is eliminating wheat and lactose.  Did your doctor give you a treatment plan? Prescribe any medication?

Hello, just popped in my head to ask this question about medications and celiac? I have always had refurse reaction to meds since I can remember  of what little meds my body is able to tolerate. I was taking gabapentin 300mg for a week,  in past I believe 150? Any ways it amps me up not able to sleep, though very tired. However I did notice it helped with my bloating sibo belly.I hate that my body is that sensitive and medical doesn't seem to take seriously. Im STILL healing with my skin, eye, and now ms or meningioma ( will know in April  which)and dealing with this limbo nightmare. I did write my name, address ect on the reclamation but im not tech savvy and not sure if went through properly. I called my city representative in Stanislaus County and asked if theres a physical paper i can sign for proclamation for celiac and she had no clue about what I was saying, so I just said I'll go back on website.

I'm not saying that some celiacs won't need it, but it should be done under a doctor's supervision because it can cause lots of problems in some people.

I also noticed I get debilitating migraines when I smell gluten, wheat and its not taken seriously when it affects one in every way.Im still begging to properly be heard.I also noticed tolerance level is down the drain with age and life changes. I have been told by incompetent medical that im not celiac or that sensitive. Diagnosed in 1994 by gi biopsy gluten-free ever since along with other lovely food allergies. Prayers

trents:  Why some can tolerate european bread but not american bread.     I take 600 mcg a day.  Right in the middle of the safe range.   Groups at Risk of Iodine Inadequacy Though though the NIH does not specifically list Celiac Disease in this group, they state: "Iodide is quickly and almost completely absorbed in the stomach and duodenum. Iodate is reduced in the gastrointestinal tract and absorbed as iodide [2,5]."  That would certainly include malabsorption of Iodine due to Celiac Disease with resultant Iodine Deficiency. Vegans and people who eat few or no dairy products, seafood, and eggs People who do not use iodized salt Pregnant women People with marginal iodine status who eat foods containing goitrogens Deficiencies of iron and/or vitamin A may also be goitrogenic [51] https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Iodine-HealthProfessiona   1
