This Is So Infuriating!

I got some cookies at the Health Food store...Mi-Del brand, ginger snaps, with HUGE letters on the front blaring out GLUTEN FREE!! WHEAT FREE! Then way at the bottom in the allergy warning area it said "Made in a plant that also processes wheat products."

So what does that mean? Do any of you eat these when they have that warning? It didn't have the "shared equpment" statement, just about being made in the same plant.

It has a chance for cross-contamination...

It depends on your sensitivity..

Some people can handle them, some cannot. I appreciate that they do that...

Alot of specialty brands have gluten free foods processed in the same facilities as wheat but have machines cleaned in between. Not many brands you will find are dedicated to 100% gluten free facilities.

I am sensitive and I eat products that are gluten free but processed in facilities that also process wheat and have not had a problem with many, if any, of them.

I cant seem to eat any of the brands that are processed in a facility w/ wheat. It pretty much sucks...I've tried quite a few brands. I like Enjoy Life products and they havent bothered me. I just dont buy stuff that has that warning anymore. Maybe when I'm 100% I'll be less sensitive. I dunnno but thats what I'm hoping.

I tend to get sick whenever I try a product with the "made in the same facility" warning. This has happened with a variety of items, not just one company. I stay away from them.

I also don't seem to tolerate many products that are produced near wheat/gluten or on the same lines as gluten. For example, I react to gluten free Humpty Dumpty chips that are produced on the same line as gluten chips. There have been two products that blatantly listed gluten free on the label that I have reacted to.

I am also sensitive to cross-contamination. It does suck. Has anyone here ever had a problem with Glutino (sp?) products. I've been meaning to look them up online, but haven't had a chance. I am not sure if they are processed in a gluten-free facility or not, but they seem to make a lot of gluten-free products.

Has anyone here ever had a problem with Glutino (sp?) products.
I've never had a problem with them :)

I have never had a problem with either Glutino or Glutano products. I eat the Glutino breakfast bars quite often.

I do not usually have a problem with "manufactured in the same plant" items, but I'm choosy about which ones I'll do. Dried fruit, no. Salsa, yes. (It has to do with how likely I think it is that 1) cleaning can be thoroughly done (easier for wet than dry), and 2) how much is likely to be picked up by the foods (more for stickier things).) But it is a risk.

      This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers.       Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

      I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
