I have a question, (also have various allergies), is there also a correlation with Celiac D., and or, Colitis, that somehow 'may' be causing chronic UTI's too???  Sooo discouraged right now :-(

Going to see a Gastro Dr. in February :-(

Thank YOU

Jeanne

Sure.  UTIs  are caused by bacteria.  Diarrhea causes a lot of bacteria to get smeared around and it can get into your urinary track.  (I am assuming you are female)

Why wait until February?  Your PCP (or any medical doctor) can order the celiac antibodies blood panel before you even see the GI.

I have a family member who struggled with UTIs for years (and she runs the nursing department at a teaching hospital).   She has not suffered from one since she went Gluten Free.  Celiac disease is systemic and affects everyone a bit differently.  It is one reason why it takes so long for most to get a diagnosis, but get that diagnosis or rule out celiac disease before you try the gluten free diet.  I just met a person who has been gluten free for years.  She actually works for a GI who has been bugging her to do a challenge, but she knows that 8 to 12 weeks of eating gluten is now going to make her very sick.  It is a shame that even those who work in the medical profession are so mis-informed (I do not know, but I bet she went gluten free prior to working for a GI).

It might not be gluten, but since you are since you have Colitis....get it checked out.

I’m having this type of MRI this afternoon,  What specifically do you want to know?  From what I’ve read, not all facilities use the same drink prep.

Hi I've been told I need a MRI on my bowels , I was booked for a colonoscopy, but because of my sever back issues and trapped nerve it can't be done , the nurse told me I will have to have a manitol drink a hour before the scan , I'm just a bit worried has I have issues with sweeteners like even a little,  I get a weird throat and ears and I've read it is a similar substance , not sure if anyone has had one of these scans or could give me some advise on the drink prep thanks in advance 😄

Hi all ! Can a celiac attack be so intense that it causes your entire body to work in reverse? Meaning really bad pain,  neuropathy and muscle,  jaw pain,  the stomach issues , Horrible anxiety and confusion??  I had a Tums and you would think I ate poison. My jaw and stomach did not like it . Not the norm for me. Things that are simple are just out of control. Anyone ever have this happen??  I'm trying to figure out what I ate or did to bring on a celiac like attack. I had an idea before but yesterday I didn't have any gluten unless it was in a medication ?! Any positive suggestions ??  Thank you

The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
