Hi all!  I have just had a call from my doctor confirming a celiac diagnoses!  In some ways I am relieved as it will explain a lot of my (minor) symptoms.. in other ways a little overwhelmed as I am already a vegetarian so feeling a little bit limited!  My doctor did not say anything to me.. just told me to look on websites! So one of my first questions is.... if I stop eating gluten now.. will my gluten symptoms be worse than they are now if I have gluten again? (I am camping next weekend with friends and have a meal out this weekend... and not sure if it is worth changing meal plans for these.. and just do it at home for now?! I hope this makes sense!... my main symptoms are lethargy poss due to anaemia.. some bloating, gas, and reflux but no pain...

Im sure over the coming weeks I'll be asking lots of daft questions! So I'll apologise in advance!

may thanks xxx

Well welcome the club you never wanted in, do read the newbie 101 section about how to clean out, decon the kitchen preventing contamination, and reading labels.

Yes after removing gluten many of us get much more violent reactions when it is reintroduced either due to being "numbed" to constant pain and the "normal" we perceived for so many years. Or from our immune system rebounded with renewed vigor at what it thinks is a invader......Gluten free traveling and camping can be done easily, bit more of a issue with vegan but not much. Get some Vegan Protein shakes/meal replacements (MRM Veggie meal replacement), protein bars (Julian Bakery, Kind), bags of nuts, seeds, dried fruit (nuts.com and mygerbs.com), dried kale chips, bean chips, or vegan protein chips (Rythem foods, protes, etc.) some fresh fruit, perhaps take some potatoes wrap in foil and cook in the fire.  PS the vegan protein powders and chips are great for anemia as pea protein is very high in iron, take with vitamin C supplements to maximize absorption

Got a list of some helpful foods for treating yourself, but we suggest a whole foods only diet starting off. I do some some recipes on my blog here that might interest you like Vegan Taco soup, etc.
