Has anyone tried the new Cuisinart Bread machine? On Amazon the description says it includes gluten free recipes .Does anyone think bread machine breads are better than those made by Hand?

Thanks, Carol

Hi Carol,

I ordered the Cuisinart Breadmaking machine within the past month; it was delivered a week ago and I told UPS to return it to sender (amazon .com). Why? . . . . #1) There are a lot of posts on this message board with homemade gluten-free bread "failing", and #2) I've always kneaded my own bread and enjoy that process. Figured if several others have already tried gluten-free, homemade bread and are having problems, that tells me perhaps I don't want to invest $100. in something that's going to be a challenge and end up not using the machine. On the positive side though, would like to hear from others who have mastered the "fine art" of gluten-free, homemade, breadmaking.

Not sure I'd consider it mastered, but I have made bread in my machine with success. It does not have a gluten-free cycle, but they seem to do okay anyway. I tried the Gluten Free Pantry mix first. The taste was fine but it was a little airy at the top. I switched to the Bob's Red Mill mix and got a more consistent loaf, which I have used a number of times. I am going to try some the recipes that have been posted here but haven't had the time yet.

I did buy a new pan and paddle for my machine since I have a split household. It is clearly marked gluten-free and my family fears the wrath of a glutened woman, so they stay clear of it!!

I'm actually hoping for mine to break so that I can get the new one with the gluten-free cycle. I'm sure, of course, mine will continue to provide faith service for many years just to annoy me!! <_<<_<

I actually have the machine and got it about a month ago and have made at least 4 loaves of bread already it is great I use the bob's red mill wonderful sandwhich mix and its great! I love the setting and I have also used a homemade recipe and both are out of this world I felt as though I was cheating!

Did you have a machine before to compare the new cycle?

Yeah, I have the cuisinart. The only gluten-free loaf I've made BURNED and I took it out 8 mins early. I guess I had my loaf weight off and should have set it to light. The cuisinart makes really thick crusts. Bread turned out ok otherwise, it's not my breadmaker's fault that gluten-free bread is gross :P

So I purchased the Life Extension Benfotiamine with Thiamine along with the Thiamax. I will take along with my Super B Complexes. I stopped taking the multi vitamins. Should I take all 3 vitamins/supplements together with my morning oatmeal breakfast? Do you think I will experience any bad symptoms when taking them.

Of all the countries I have visited in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, I have found eating out in Ireland to be the safest for celiacs. Most restaurants have all allergens (up to 14 different ones) identified on their menus, including wheat and gluten. I have found staff at restaurants to be very knowledgeable regarding gluten and cross-contamination compared to most other countries. Restaurant staff (including management) in Ireland even tried dissuading me from eating some items labeled 'gluten-free' on the menu, fearing that there could be risk of minuscule cross-contamination. Many of the hotels have fresh baked gluten-free breads, pastries, and cakes at their breakfast buffet, something unheard of in most U.S hotels. These are clearly labeled and well separated from gluten-containing items. There are also quite a few gluten-free desserts to satisfy one's sweet tooth.  With everything said and done, the meats and dairy products are simply delicious and worth trying. Overall, I would give dining out in Ireland five stars for celiac safety and quality.

No, I meant two years ago when you had your most recent upper GI scope.

And you were experiencing this burning sensation back then?
